Last week I shared a lot of the little details of our wedding, and if you don’t mind I have a few more big ones to reveal!
You might remember that no Pittsburgh or Italian wedding is complete without a cookie table. It’s just non-negotiable. But with Candy Buffets taking over the world of weddings, I decided on a hybrid Cookie Table/Candy Buffet. The results were truly delicious!

I tried to stick to purple, pink, and green candies, while still making sure that they’d taste good enough that people would want to eat them!
I ordered all of the candy in bulk from Candy Warehouse (where you can sort by color) for less than $300 (candy buffets are NOT cheap!). We had leftovers of some of the candy, but I guess that’s what happens when you buy in bulk! For reference, here is what I bought for 250 guests (8 kids):
In addition to all that candy, we also had cookies and other sweets. Someone recently asked me how many cookies we had, and I had to laugh. I would never use my family as a reference for wedding cookie quantity - my mother thinks you need 4-6 cookies per person (we had 250 guests, are you doing that math?). I am happy to report that we had at least 200 cookies leftover, so do NOT use her numbers (though she will claim that people ate less cookies because there was candy
).
In addition to cookies and candy, Burger’s grandmother adapted her famous Red Velvet Cake (that she makes for all major holidays) to cupcake size for our wedding:
And those tiny guys on top? A last-minute addition that Sister-Cheeseburger MOH and I whipped up in the week before the wedding:
Yes, you’re reading that correctly: Carbomb Cupcakes! I used this recipe, modified from this recipe. They were a huge pain to make but SO WORTH IT - especially fresh. Because they had to be iced a few days after they were made they were slightly dry at the wedding, but right out of the oven - OMG AMAZING. And I made them mini so that they went down like a shot. YUM!
Another detail that I absolutely loved was our Family Table. Placed smack in the middle of the reception, Burger, myself, and our families sat on both sides of a long, gorgeous table. I absolutely loved sitting with my parents to one side of me and my siblings across the table - with Burger’s family in the same configuration. It was wonderful being so close to everyone. You got to see some pictures of us sitting at it during the speeches, but here are some more shots:
Also present at our table were the chair decorations that I made using this tutorial.
Here’s a sweet shot of my seat a little later in the evening. My bouquet was starting to tire out and my cake was waiting for me when I took a break from dancing!
And because I don’t feel I really did our flowers justice, take a look at these gorgeous arrangements that Woodrings put together for us (on a budget, I might add!). Amazing!
Did you have a Cookie Table, Candy Buffet or some combination of the two? We were just at a friends wedding and they served donuts! It was awesome.
Catch up!
