This past weekend I was gathering inspiration for my wedding makeup. And for a girl who lives on lip gloss and a little blush, I’m aiming for something a little more special for our big day.

So, the first step? The makeup item I love most, of course…lipstick!

With an endless array of colors, where would I even begin? And when you give a Libra like me too many options, it makes it impossible to make a decision.

Oof!

I finally decided to start my search by revisiting my favorite Spring ’11 Fashion Week shows. I figured that since our wedding is in Spring, these runway looks would show me the fresh and fun makeup colors for next year, versus the warmer autumn hues in store now.

Lo and behold, there they were. Brilliant shades of tangerine - bright & glam at J Mendel and Jill Stuart, muted and romantic at Lela Rosa and oh so pale at Luca Luca. The newest, loveliest lip shade for next year…and it comes in hues for everyone!

So now I’m excited! I’m going to pick up a few different shades from a few different brands, play around with them at home and see which one gets the most compliments from Mr. Ostrich {and Napoleon!}.

The Stila long wear is amazing! I love the stuff. Way better the their normal gloss.

Nars is also awesome, but Giza isn’t as colorful as the long wear. AND it’s a little stickier then the Stila!

Way to go, tangerine! Loving this new color trend for lips!

best one is MUFE’s neon orange. prada hit the runway with it in the spring, iirc. i love mixing that with nars funny face. i always sport either an orange or hot pink lip.

I love the Stila, maybe with the Nars gloss layered over? You want the color to last but not be too sticky for a beach wedding.

Oh! I went with a orange shade as well! My m/u artist actually mixed together a perfect shade for me. Truth be told when shopping around for touchups it was very hard to find ONE that had the perfect shade and gloss. I ended up finding the perfect mixture of a lipstick and lip gloss from Clinique. GL!

@DoxieDoll: @sadie: @feministbride: wow! the raving reviews about the stila longwear have made it a frontrunner! i’m going to try mixing it up a bit sith some other shades and see how it turns out

@jgoulart: @Miss Glasses: i love the idea of a lipstick post! i’ll try and bribe mr. ostrich to take a few snaps of his bride to bee with these lipstick colors

@Mrs. Barrettes: ah! thank you for bringing me back to earth, barrettes! the last thing i want is for mr. o to be sporting some tangerine lips in our photos….omg!
