About Mrs. Dolphin

Bride/Wedding Videographer

October 20th, 2010 @ 8:11 am by Mrs. Dolphin

Hello hive! Long time no talk?

I’ve been quite the little video editor this week, editing videos for two weddings Mr. Dolphin and I have been to in the past few months. When Mr. Dolphin and I first saw our highlights video it instantly took us back to that day, that special moment in our lives. We knew video was incredibly important to us and we were so happy the lovely Erika Rydell was able to be there to capture our day so beautifully.

Recently, Mr. Dolphin and I went to two weddings, one for my cousin up in Erie, PA (we drove, we are crazy) and one for his cousin in St. Augustine, FL. Both weddings were sans videographer. We wanted our cousins to have  fun little videos from their weddings because a video shows emotion and the mood of a wedding so much better then any photo could ever show (we believe). Luckily, Mr. Dolphin and I are always equipped with a ridiculous amount of video/photo equipment everywhere we go (remember our honeymoon video?).

Here are the two videos I’ve been having so much fun editing. I smiled the whole time I edited these videos. How could you not with such cute couples? Yeah, I may have cried too. I get way to wrapped up in the song/video combo, or I’m just an emotional wreck. Who knows.

My cousin’s Erie, PA wedding. We decided mid-reception to become their unofficial videographer. So happy we did. :)

Song: “Love Love Love” Hope feat. Jason Mraz

When the bride started crying during the ceremony I knew at that moment I HAD to be their unofficial videographer (while Mr. Dolphin did his duties escorting the Mother of the Groom). They are so sweet, and I totally cried a few times while making their video. I’m a sap.

I’ve sort of halted recaps until we receive our FULL wedding video from our videographer because I think recaps are sooo much more fun with video (as we can see by Mrs Scissors‘ recaps). Plus, it’s a little difficult to show you how much practice we put into our first dance without some practice video cut-in with some of the real thing at our reception. You know you want to see Mr. Dolphin and me practicing our first dance… it is utter hilariousness. Poor Mr. Dolphin worked so hard to learn how to dance. What a sweet face.

I’ve been focusing tons of post-wedding attention on our wedding album (which is almost done! Yippee!) and can’t wait to reveal the final product. I plan to put together little packages for family at Christmas, complete with wedding album, wedding video (of course with a fabulously designed case) and prints.

So, here’s my question for y’all: How important was it to you to have video at your wedding? Are you finding difficulties fitting it into your budget? Have you found creative solutions to fitting videography into your budget?

Great job! We originally didn’t want a videographer because pictures are more of an importance to us, but I’m a sap for watching cheesy chick flicks and in everyone when I see them popping in their wedding video it made me think….I think that would be great to do on a rainy day or when you’re feeling blue. So we found a videographer that fit our budget and now I’m glad we did!

Great job with the videos! To answer your question, we are having so much trouble fitting video into our budget. I think we could make it work, but I can’t seem to find a videographer that isn’t ubber expensive or uber cheesy. It would be so amazing to have an 8mm film, I love the nostalgic quality of them. Who knows, maybe some funds will materialize in the next couple of months, haha right. . .

We weren’t going to have a videographer, but I asked my cousin who is really good with that sort of thing if he would mind filming at least the ceremony… well he took it to a whole new level, did the ceremony, the reception… of course, we plan to pay him if we can get in touch with him, we can’t wait to see what he came up with!

I didn’t think we needed a videographer until I talked to my cousin about it. Her kids are 2 and 5 and their favorite “movie” to watch is Mommy and Daddy’s Wedding. Tears. Hired videographer!

We just had a friend videotape things and no one did any editing or anything. Sadly, his camera AND a family friend’s camera both died at the exact same moment, right before the vows portion of the ceremony (sad face.) I’m glad we have the CD with the wedding on it but I sort of wish I’d gone for a true videographer who would edit and such!

Amazing job, Mrs. Dolphin! We weren’t going to have a videographer (I’m not much for watching videos in general, and videos of me? Forget about it, I just end up critiquing myself endlessly), but this may actually make me change my mind…

Love the second song, too!

OMGosh that is so incredibly nice of you and they look great! Want to film our wedding? Haha! No seriously! At first we weren’t sure we wanted videography, but the more wedding videos we watch, the more we think we just have to have it! And yes, we’re having a difficult time nailing someone down in our price range! Love these vids!

We can’t really afford to hire one we like, so I’m thinking about investing in a nice video camer and buying editing software to diy. Then we’ll also have the camera and software to use for other things.

We had a lot of trouble fitting it into our budget but, it was super important to Mr. Dolphin, so we did a little creative budgeting. We ended up doing a trade of services with our up and coming videographer. Granted, not everyone can do that but it helped to solve our problem!

Just having someone video everything is a great idea and if you have a Mac, editing it in iMovie is super easy!

You did such a great job! The video we have from our wedding is such poor quality, the wind was blowing so hard you can’t hear us talking. I’ll have to put some music over it.

I’m so glad we sprung for a videographer. We were going to cover with wedding gifts money and tax return at first since our video guy allowed us to pay in thirds and the last three wasn’t due until after we received the edited video. We actually eneded up not need ing to use he Credit Card while waiting for tax returns and gift money, because we had far less guests than expected 100 out of 181 invited and his parents unexpectedly picked up the wine tab to the tune of $750. Our videographer was $1500 (2009 pricing). IF you need someone in WV, he also travels to Pittsburgh and parts of the DC area, PM me.

Yea I was very anti-video until I started looking at wedding blogs and now we totally want one. Finding one in our budget that is super cheesy has been crazy hard. One would think DC metro would have more, but alas.

I didn’t really care about videography early in the planning, and I think FH still doesn’t care, so we left no room for it in the budget. Now I’m wondering about it, but A) we have no money left and B) I hate hearing my own voice recorded.

I think I’ll be able to live without it.

I really want a good videographer, and I found one who is fantastic, but she is kinda out of the budget. My FH doesn’t seem to think its that important, but I am trying to convince him….even thinking about getting a 2nd job just to cover it!

Photography & Videography is a HUGE priority for me. I really really want them. I’m trying to figure out how to fit them both into our budget. You did a fabulous job on the wedding videos for the family. They’ll cherish these videos looking back at the memories.

If we couldn’t fit it in the budget I would have loved to have had a family member like you to be an unofficial videographer, great work Mrs. Dolphin!
