Were any of you lucky enough to have a best friend you never fought with? Who you could tell your really ridiculous innermost secrets and know she’d laugh at you but never tell a soul? Have you made a pact to be Maid of Honor in each other’s wedding? A friend who you have been away from for years and can pick right back up again with?

That’s my friend Britt (Brittany, Britt britt, Breethead, Shitty Britty). We’ve been friends since second grade. She is some kind of awesome. She does crazy things like move across the country and then back, camp in Yosemite National Park, spend the summer in Nowhere Maine caretaking for an eco resort. I took the traditional route (college, house, marriage) where she took the so-awesome-I’m jealous route. We’ve spent our lives sharing the same milestones with one another and getting married is no different. WOOT WOOT!

My best friend in the whole wide world just got engaged and is planning a June wedding. That’s right, this is the year of the wedding. As mine dies down in March, hers will start to heat up. I couldn’t be more excited to be sharing this with her and as an added bonus, for the first time in four years we’re living in the same town. I get to see her all the time eventhoughsheasksmeridiculousthings like ALTERING HER MOTHER’S WEDDING GOWN FOR HER!

I was so excited when I received the text from her telling me to get my MOH speech ready that I may have dropped an F-bomb in front of my very parrot-y 3 year old nephews. Whoops. Anyways… She asked me more formally via a pumpkin and a little owl (each of her BMs received an owl too).

And for shits and giggles, who doesn’t love a good tour through the awkward years?

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand… she also wrote about her wedding day in fourth grade. She’s going to demote me when she sees that I’ve posted it. What are best friends for?
