Biological Warfare

…or sending out STDs.

Originally I wasn’t going to bother with Save the Dates. Our long engagement has provided us with plenty of opportunities to notify our families about the wedding. I reserved 20 rooms in the block and I was going to notify our guests in tiers about the availability of rooms.

  1. Immediate Family
  2. Bridal Party
  3. Long Distance Guests
  4. All other guests

Imagine how shocked I was to discover that the room block was nearly full in the middle of the second tier! In order to accommodate all of our guests who wanted to participate in the block, we’ve got to fill the block and then add as rooms are needed. If the hotel books completely before all of our guests book their blocks, they are SOL. This basically means that our guests need to start reserving their rooms as quickly as possible in order to secure the discounted rate. Lucky for us the hotel provided us with an amazing price for rooms in our block. I think after seeing the prices, people were more likely to reserve a room. This makes me a super duper happy girl because I am nervous about people drinking and driving home after our wedding.

I got incredibly lucky having Britt in town as she is a photographer and I never would have figured out all of the photo “bleed” requirements at Vistaprint. They probably aren’t that difficult but this was a project I wasn’t too into so focus was hard to come by. The wine probably didn’t help either. She also did all the designing for the magnets. I know, I know, I’m a total cop out!

Remember to stamp before you stuff!

The stamp may look a little wonky but it was my user error and a nearly dry ink pad. Promise!

The Budget Breakdown

  • $76.60 Vistaprint Magnets (200)
  • $38.97 Envelopes from Paperandmore.com (150)
  • $22.70 Return Address Stamp from Etsy seller RunEllieRun
  • $61.60 Stamps (King & Queens y’all!)
  • $3.00 Metallic Sharpies (approximate guess) from Walmart

For a (drum roll please) grand total of $202.87! I didn’t count the website information card in the grand total because they were mess ups from our original invitation suite. The paper and ink will be included in our invitation total budget. They aren’t super fly fancy but they’ll do the job. I’m pleased with them fo’ sho’.

I’m satisfied with the Vistaprint magnets. They are the size of a business card which are really small in retrospect but I knew that going into it. Not sad about it. I love paperandmore.com. I chose them this time because in the past the standard shipping arrived really really, 2 days later, fast. This time however the standard shipping took the standard shipping time of 8 - 10 business days. Again, not sad about it. I would have liked the STDs to have gone out earlier, but they’ll do.

RunEllieRun was fabulous. My stamp was slightly more money because I wanted it mounted.

All in all—a project well finished!

Don’t you just love Vistaprint? :)

The postcards that I “bought” from them were free… all 100 of them! I just paid for shipping, which I believe was less than $7.

I have to say, though… I giggled when I read the title and the first line. All I could think of was, “She’s sick… coughing all over the STDs… and sending them out?”

We had the same thing with our room blocks, in that we had to sell out before adding more. It was kind of annoying, but everything worked out. The photo you picked is wicked cute.

Great job! They look lovely…and wouldn’t you know people will actually stick them to their fridge! At least many of our friends did (or they made sure to stick them one when we came over).

Thanks Ladies! It was actually my second choice picture for the magnet. I like it better than the first choice though!

@JoyfulBee: I love everything except the flooding of my email box. Sheesh they send a ton of crap!

@MissCatherine: MM Sharpies make me happy. :)

@CupCakeMeg: Oh, you’re good! Save some of that money girl!

@Miss Hippo: I love them expect that you can’t write on them with any old thing lying around.

I was thinking about ordering magnets from vistaprint, but wasn’t sure. Since yours look good, now I’m totally not worried anymore! Thanks so much!
