Our bachelor & bachelorette party kicked my butt last weekend, but this week I got off my butt and was a busy, busy bee. Our wedding is FAST approaching and I need to get all our projects done so I can play with Team England - they are arriving this weekend!
I’ve got a lot on my plate but luckily my mom has taken over a lot. Even before we were in America, I got this gem of an e-mail from my tiny Japanese mom:
You are so fascinating for cup cakes for dessert, so, I maid two towers for cup cake. I just copy the idea from wedding bee. It looks cute tower. I show you latter.
Do this. Stripes, my mom says big ups.
Let’s face it - I don’t have an original idea in my head. The following projects have all been around the block on the ’bee.
Our programs were created in Photoshop, printed out at Kinko’s, bound with lovely red baker’s twine, and I used a Martha Stewart punch to create the lace look at the bottom. Side note: that thing broke after about 20 pages. Grrrrrrrr. I like the design and I love our vows printed on the last page. We will have our guests read off each line and we will repeat after them - our vows are very, very traditional but avoid legal jargon as we are already married.
But, unfortunately, these programs are a big fat fail.
Pages are upside down when you flip them and there’s a big white space on one side of each page because we were originally going to have them open up like a book but it was just too difficult to format.
Aaaaand the worst part - we printed double the amount we needed! The cost of printing these was a whopping $90 and we didn’t realize why it was so expensive until we were putting them together. To the right, finished programs. To the left, programs pages we don’t need - a $45 loss! What should we do with all those leftover pages?!
Another project straight from the hive is this banner:
I made it by typing spaced out letters on a page and tracing small circles (I used the mouth of a cup) around each letter, cutting them out, then purchasing colored card stock and tracing bigger circles (I used a CD) and cutting those out, then pasting the smaller lettered circles onto the bigger colored card stock circles. Last, I punched two holes at the top of the circles and strung black satin ribbon through them.
I covered up the ink-blots from my messy embossing project with cherry blossom stickers.
Mr. G created our table name signs:
And I used leftover baker’s twine to attach name cards to lovely blue mason jars lent generously by Mrs. Stripes:
I’m sure what motivated me to get all this done was the creativity of the hive, so a big fat thank you to all you ladies. We’ve still got MORE to do so I’ll be back!
What motivates you to get your projects done?
