After I came close to losing all hope, I decided to make one final dress appointment. I figured that if this one didn’t work out, I’d give up on stores altogether and go the custom-dress route.
I went to a store in South Jersey, about half an hour from my home (for a major city, Philly has a horrible selection of bridal shops) in search of a Watters dress. Well, the Watters dresses did nothing for me, but I tried on a dress by a designer I’d never heard of: Enzoani.
Introducing the Enzoani Caymen [sic].

I tried to sneak a photo with my phone, but the saleswoman was on me like a hawk. Sigh.
Anyway, I’ll be 100% honest: it’s not everything I’ve dreamed of. But what I’ve dreamed of doesn’t work on my bod. Still, the Caymen is simple, pretty, and modern without being trendy, and the sample fit like a dream. I mean, I looked skinny, you guys, and I haven’t looked skinny in years! I felt good about myself, and I think that’s one of the most important things to consider at this point.
Even better, because the sample was in my size, they offered me 15% off if I buy off the rack. And since it fits like a dream, the only alteration it will need is on the train. (It’s long as hell, so I want it removed.) I decided to bring my mother back a few days later (she’s offered to buy my dress for me) so we can put the deposit down.
I’m pretty excited about the dress, but mostly I’m excited to put the whole dress-shopping thing behind me. I found a pretty dress that fits me well and, while it isn’t my dream dress, it’s the right dress for me.
So, a few days later, despite the fact that I was home sick with a sinus infection, my mother and I went to put down the deposit on the dress!
You’ll forgive me for the faceless photo—I asked my mother to take the pic from the neck down because no makeup + sinus infection = not a pretty sight. Trust me. Anyway, at least you get to see what the dress looks like—sort of—and how flattering it is. Look! I have a waist!
Personal Photo
We didn’t attach the flower piece at the waist, but I think I’ll leave it off for the ceremony and then reattach it for the reception.
So there you have it. Is it the funky, unique, edgy dress of my dreams? No. But it fits, it’s flattering, it’s modern and simple, and it’s perfect for me. I can’t wait to see what it looks like after it’s been pressed and the ginormous train is cut off!
Were you thrilled to cross dress shopping off of your list of to-do assignments?
