For most brides the morning of the wedding would include getting showered, dressed, and beautified. For me, it included a quick shower, frantically finishing my last two bridesmaids’ bouquets and running through to-do-lists in my slightly overwhelmed brain, all while remaining amazingly calm.

Before I even began to grasp the thought that my wedding day was actually there, it was 11 o’clock and time to meet the hairdressers at the venue. They were running a little bit late which gave my girls and me time to order a couple of bottles of wine and lunch from the cafe.

There we sat, wine glasses filled and chatting it up while I worked on my last-minute projects. Soon enough the hairdressers arrived and began working on the girls. Before long, it was my turn in the seat and I was forced to retire my projects at hand. It was then 1:30PM and I should have had time to quickly finish what I had been working on once the stylist was done (after all, the trial only took about an hour). Well, you can imagine my utter surprise when I looked up (what seemed) a short while later to see my photographer! Ummmm…WTH! I quickly panicked…and shouted, “Oh no, it’s 3 already!?! I need to finish Mr. L’s boutonniere!”

Fortunately, Anna was early and it was just nearing 2:30, which was still cutting it close (we were supposed to meet for photos at 3:30). With the time constraint, the hairdresser caved and let me have my box of crafting equipment as she worked and Anna began documenting the scene.

Flower girl Anna arrived and gifted me the cutest framed drawing of Mr. L and I dressed in our wedding garb. My dress was orange and his tux a bright blue=ADORABLE.

Here it looks as if I am contemplating stabbing someone with those scissors, but not so much. I only look scary because 1) I was so focused on finishing up Mr. L’s boutonniere, 2) I wasn’t wearing any makeup yet and 3) I was getting antsy.

The hairdresser began the final touches on my hair and I finished Mr. L’s boutonniere. Check out the sweet smile of relief (now if I could finish those vows)!

With my hair done, I finally had a chance to cover up a week’s worth of no sleep. Oh my, how I love the wonders that makeup can perform!

Even with my makeup on and my hair done-up I couldn’t grasp the reality that in a few short hours I would be Mrs. Locket. I was calm and collected with blank emotions…maybe it was the fact that I hadn’t slept in days or perhaps it was because I was focusing on all the to-dos. It just hadn’t hit me yet. Well, no worries bees, I am not a robot, I only needed one last key element to bring it all out. THE DRESS!
