Mrs. Brooch's Picture
Mrs. Brooch, Arlington, VA Age and Occupation: 25, Writer/Editor Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Front Desk Manager Engagement Date: October 3, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2011 Venue: Oxon Hill Manor About Me: I’m an indecisive girlie-girl with a motor mouth, can-do attitude, and knack for making others laugh. I dream of becoming a best selling novelist like Elizabeth Gilbert or Julie Powell (a girl can dream, right?), and love long road trips, a beautiful countryside, music, blogs, books, and all things vintage/thrift/antique/or homemade. I’m a Virgo, i.e. overly sensitive, emotional, and critical, and there’s no such thing as short and sweet in my world. I want to say and do it all. Mr. Brooch grounds me. I point where to go and he figures out the way. He’s a pragmatic fancy-pants who enjoys video games and movies. We both adore our mutt, Rocky, and spending time with our amazingly supportive family and friends. We’re planning a garden wedding with a formal reception with lots of whimsy and unique, Southern-inspired details.
About Mrs. Brooch

If you thought the Girl who Cried Dress Parts 1, 2, and 3 were going to end in me making a decision, think again! With all of dresses I’ve tried, I’m more confused than ever and to make matters worse, I’m out of time. I have to make a decision now, and I need your help!

The Girl Who Cried Dress Must Decide : wedding arlington wedding dress Untitle1 Untitle

Since you know everything I’ve been through and of since most of you have had to make this very tough decision too, I’m looking to you to help me make the final choice from the more than 10 dresses I love!

So without further ado, here are the top contenders and a snippet about each one:

DRESS 1

I loved this dress because of how tiny it made my waist look! OMG! Seriously, my waist is not that small! I didn’t like the tulle overlay, though and this dress is only available in white, and I had my heart set on ivory because I’m so fair skinned. It’s a nice dress and I love these pictures, but I’m not wild about it, especially because it’s white.

DRESS 2

If I thought I liked the way the first dress made my body look, I didn’t know what was coming with this dress! I didn’t recognize my body when they laced up the corset! I never, ever thought a mermaid style would look good on me, but I must say, I look pretty hot! I didn’t like how tight it was, though. When I sat down, I felt like I had been mummified! Not cool!

DRESS 3

I never thought I liked dresses that had colored sashes, but this sash was just beautiful!

This dress was a little too plain for my tastes, though.

DRESS 4

I loved this dress because it really felt like a wedding dress! The material was absolutely beautiful and I just loved the detail. It was gorgeous! It wasn’t my size, though and I wasn’t crazy about the two-toned look.

DRESS 5

I absolutely loved this dress because of the comfortable feel and sexy, simple fit. This dress was airy and I love taffeta! There wasn’t anything I didn’t love about this gown.

DRESS 6

This dress was just fun! I loved the simple skirt, because I’m not crazy about long trains. I loved the way it felt like a bell and flowed beautifully. I didn’t like the stark white material or the price tag, though! It was the most expensive dress I tried on.

DRESS 7

I loved the simplicity of this gown. It was this wonderful, soft silk material and really comfortable. I didn’t like how casual it was though. It felt more like an evening gown than a wedding dress.

DRESS 8

This dress had the most beautiful keyhole back, but I didn’t want to share the picture of MY back in it, because it was too small and yeah, did not look right! I loved how form fitting this gown was, but I felt like the straps made my shoulders look really broad.

DRESS 9

MY DRESS! Haha! Do you remember my post A Dress to Diet For? Yeah, I’ve lusted after this dress for more than a year and it was glorious when I finally had a chance to try it on! I loved it. I really had talked myself out of getting it because I didn’t think I would look good in the t-back, but when I put it on, everything changed. There wasn’t anything I didn’t absolutely love about this gown.

DRESS 10

Another favorite! This gown was comfortable and sleek. I loved the way it hugged my curves and there was just enough bling. Again, it was made of taffeta and I loved the sweetheart neckline. I kind of felt like it was more of an evening gown, though and didn’t fit our Sunday afternoon wedding.

DRESS 11

Ahh! I love this dress. Freggin’ love it! It had a little bit of all of the others. It really made me feel like a bride, but it wasn’t too over-the-top. I loved - just loved - the corset top and all of the detailing is just gorgeous. Absolutely nothing I didn’t adore about this one!

Can you see why I’m confused?

Which is your favorite?

Will it fit in with our Sunday daytime wedding?

I think dress 5 suits you best! It’s pretty and very flattering on your figure. I can totally empathize with feeling overwhelmed with dress options–I tried on so many that I decided I needed to go the custom route because nothing was working for me any longer!

I love #9 and #11 on you! I think they are a little more glam / evening, so for a Sunday afternoon wedding I think #5 is the absolute perfect touch, plus it looks amazing.

#5 and #9 are the only ones you didn’t have anything bad to say about, so you have to pick one of those imo. Between the two I like 5 better.

I think you should go back and read the comments you posted about each dress, you can quickly see some of them should be eliminated. That being said I think you look fantastic in #11, look at that waist! Holy Smokes

Number 11
Because of this “Ahh! I love this dress. Freggin’ love it! It had a little bit of all of the others. It really made me feel like a bride, but it wasn’t too over-the-top. I loved - just loved - the corset top and all of the detailing is just gorgeous. Absolutely nothing I didn’t adore about this one.”

The dress is beautiful on you and looks amazing and you obviously love it. If you just go back and re-read your own descriptions of the dresses you should be able to eliminate some right away because there are things that you don’t like about them and there were a couple that you had nothing but good things to say about.
