Revisiting the Civil Ceremony

October 27th, 2010 @ 9:59 am by Mrs. Socks

Okay, let’s rewind a bit. I JUST got my DVD of photos from our civil ceremony, which happened September 18th. I already showed you some teasers, but I thought I would do a more complete recap on the day since I have all of my pictures in now! I apologize if it is a bit repetitive, but I figured a refresher wouldn’t be so bad since it was over a month ago.

I look at these photos and the words that come to mind are mostly “sweet and simple.” Our civil ceremony was very low-key as we only had 12 people attending. Yes, my in-laws were there, and I didn’t say it before in the last post, but they were visibly miserable the whole time they were there, but behaved themselves for the most part.

All photos are courtesy of Corinne Banks Photography, who offered her services for free on the Weddingbee Classifieds!

My lovely details—they each made me so happy!

Momma Socks and BM Lea helped me get ready, and then Dad Socks walked in to see his youngest daughter as a bride:

Dad Socks looks so handsome, doesn’t he? We made it to the little gazebo where our family and friends looked on, and our officiant, Ben Hickey, launched into a beautiful marriage address. If you are in New Jersey or the surrounding area, I highly recommend him as an officiant. Our ceremony was secular, but he is available to do religious ceremonies as well, and I thought he was wonderful!

As you can tell, our ceremony was fun, light-hearted, and full of laughter!

We exchanged vows and rings…

And kissed!! It was a short and to-the-point ceremony, but it was absolutely perfect!

Socks! Seeing that you had a lovely civil ceremony makes me happy considering how the big wedding went. I’m still sending positive energy your way and want you to know that with drama comes strength and you two are sure to have an iron clad marriage!

This was such a beautiful civil ceremony. I’m so glad you had a beautiful memory and ceremony to remember. And you look so pretty in your dress. You look like a grecian goddess. I’m so happy for you and I can’t wait to see more photos. :)

Your civil ceremony was beautiful! Ours was in a courthouse during my FH’s lunch break! I wore a white sundress from Target and he wore a polo shirt and jeans, no ring ceremony, no flowers. No family, just one of my besties as a witness. My FH was slightly obsessed with it being “not special” since we are having our “real” ceremony in February.

Seeing your pics makes me wish that I could have made it a little special! And I am so glad that you got to have a happy moment with your family and friends!
