About Mrs. Labrador

After a short trolley trip, we arrived at Savannah Station for our reception. Our wedding party joined the guests in the parlour who were already getting their drink on at the full bar.

Mr. Lab and I snuck in through the side door for a chance to take in the ballroom before the guests switched rooms. My DOC bustled my dress so I could walk around the room with more ease.

Not thrilled with my last minute DIY projects. The doggie table numbers didn’t live up to their full potential, but were still cute and made me feel like our fur babies were with us in spirit.

Once we’d taken everything in, we sat down to a private dinner, just the two of us. I cannot tell you enough how important it is to have little moments alone on your wedding day. I know a lot of people don’t want to miss their cocktail hour, but it didn’t bother me at all. We just did our socializing during the actual dinner.

I made these seat markers out of clay, twine, and gold paint. It’s one of the DIY projects I didn’t get around to sharing with the hive.

While we were eating, the parlour was full of guests mingling at the bar, snacking on hors d’oeuvres and checking out the guestbook/candy buffet table.

Our signature drinks in our wedding colors were a big hit! The Southern Gent was Southern Comfort and Coke (brown), the Southern Belle was a heavier version of a cosmopolitan (pink), and our signature drink was a White Russian (obviously!). We also served beer and wine.

I love seeing my pastor with a drink in his hand. Lutherans have no problem with a little liquor every now and then. ;)

Our mamas are now joined by marriage!

I am seriously bummed that the following photos were the only shots of the candy buffet, mason jars favors, and guest book table. There were no photos taken of the hors d’oeuvres which included yummy crab cakes, applewood smoked bacon-wrapped scallops, and a veggie platter.

Guest photo. Also the only photo showing the entire parlour. :( This room was the #1 reason I booked the historic train station.

Are you having a cocktail hour? Will you be attending it or using that time for a private dinner or photos?

Everything looks great!!! Dont worry, there are NO pictures from our cocktail hour at all…its really disappointing! And there are some little details that there are not any pictures of that I worked hard on! I also dont have any GREAT pictures of our centerpieces/table set ups…definitely a let down so I feel you!

Hi Mrs Labrador! Your wedding looks a-mazing!!!
I absolutely love your Mr. and Mrs. signs that you made. Would you be willing to part with these and sell them to a fellow weddingbeer lol. If not, can you post a tutorial on how to make them?
Thanks

what a smart idea to have dinner during cocktail hour so you can have a little private time AND socialize during dinner! at least you can say you met with the guests and got to eat the yummy food

Wow everything looks fabulous! I love the little “Mrs” and “Mr” signs you made!

I think we’ll be taking pics during our cocktail hour, but I love the idea of having a private dinner and we’ll definitely sneak some private time!

Maybe have anniversary pictures done in that parlor to show off the room you didn’t get pictures of. I recently had portraits done by a friend (we’re both in college) and they are so awesome and free! Put an ad up for a SCAD student to do the session :)

Everything looks amazing! And I totally hear you on the shots of the whole room and of the details… I have hardly any as well, and I was really surprised… i thought our photographer would definitely have got those… I guess it seemed standard to me? Oh well… :-(

Love all the colours you chose and the way it all tied together!

I am thinking about using the Trolley’s for my wedding. If you don’t mind me asking, about how long did it take to get everyone from Whitfield square to Savannah Station?

If your wedding day hasn’t come yet, I suggest checking in periodically with your photographer to be sure they got photos of anything super important to you. I am crushed that my wedding has several gaps in photos. :(

@HoneyBear: I’m actually not sure where they are! I put them in a storage box when we moved and need to find them. But I do plan to share a tutorial. I basically shaped the hearts by hand and the Mr./Mrs. with a pen, then stuck them in the oven for the specified amount of time. Then I painted them in with gold paint! Be sure to make the hole BEFORE you bake them!

@fromcharleston: That’s a brilliant idea! Can you recommend where to post for a SCAD student. I guess just Craigslist?

@Savannah: It only takes about 10 minutes for each round trip (but depends on the traffic and how long your guests take to load and unload). I’m so glad we booked the trolley. One of the best decisions of my entire wedding!

I love the detail shots you got, but totally feel you on being disappointed in some of the missing shots. Luckily you have one nice guest photo of the parlour–I can see why you’d want more of that lovely space. I like @fromcharleston suggestion to do a future shoot there!

I’m sorry you didn’t get some of the shots you wanted, everything looks fantastic though! I love your drink signs.

I love the overall feeling of your wedding! Your reception venue has such a cool vibe! And the signature drinks sound amazing! (I’m so sorry that you don’t have more professional photos of the cocktail hour/reception details though. That seriously sucks. :( )

Oh my goodness! Beautiful! I was going through some of your other posts and it looks like we have a similar style. I LOVE that chandelier, your bouquet, your dress, everything! Those Mr & Mrs. hearts are so prescious. You can use them as Christmas tree ornaments now! What were your favors in the mason jars?

@Danielle: The entire candy buffet were our favors (people put the candy in the mason jars to take home)! :)
