About Mrs. Starfish

Now that we’ve decided to go ahead and do a trash the dress session, we have some planning to do. The biggest decision is season. It’s going to narrow down the other decisions quite a bit. This one is hard, because if I could, I would do some type of photo session in each season. As a New Englander, I love winter, spring, summer and fall.

Although I love them all, fall is definitely my favorite season and I can think of some really fun ideas off the top of my head. I can see doing creative things at an apple orchard, a pumpkin farm, including hay… I especially love the idea of doing something fun with leaves, like the couple below.

Or how about a winter shoot with snow angels? I can just imagine putting on my Uggs and having a field day in the snow! Mr. Starfish even brought up the idea of sledding. I think hot chocolate would definitely need to be involved in a shoot like this! I’d also have to pick up some extra accessories. Maybe a fur shrug?

Spring reminds me of fresh flowers and picnics. I see spring as more of a time for portrait sessions than trash the dress, but I think we could veer away from a trash the dress and just go for some really beautiful photos.

When I think summer, I think of the ocean. I think ocean/beach trash the dress sessions have become an instant classic. When I first hear “TTD,” ocean shoots instantly come to mind. I love photos of couples splashing through the water.

If you were planning a trash the dress session, which season would you choose and why?

Spring/Summer already would look too much like my wedding photos I already have. I like the idea of having a different season represented. Plus, fall and winter in New England, where I live, are really visually striking!

I just love fall. Being that I am a NE as well the colors are just so beautiful and what’s better than jumping into piles of leaves?

I love fall! I would do it right after the wedding, or for our 1 year :)

Since we had a fall wedding, I’d be tempted to mix it up and jump in the ocean in the middle of the summer.

I would do the opposite season of your wedding. I am planning a wedding for next winter. I would be more likely to do it in the spring/summer. And did you ever think of doing it in another area different from your wedding. If you had it in the city…why not go country and take it to a farm.

the more different from your actual wedding I would think the better!

fall would be beautiful, and getting in the water would be amazing, but winter would be the BEST. I’ve never really seen TTD done in winter, and I think it would be original and I love all the ideas you’ve already thrown out there!

I wanted a fall wedding, but it just didn’t work out, so I’d definitely go with that for round 2

We did a TTD/anniversary session for our first anniversary, and it was so much fun! We did it this month, so all the leaves were falling, and were sprinkled all over the ground, and we got some great “throwing leaves” shots. It was awesome.

Fall is one of my favorite seasons as a New Englander, so I’d definitely vote for that. Plus all the colors you can get with the changing leaves would make some really great shots!

I would love a session by the water in the summer, but the fall with the leaves looks very cool.

Love this post! Super cute, seeing all the different seasons. I think a summer shoot would be fun. We live 15 minutes from the beach, I’d love a dramatic sand and water TTD
