Mrs. Ostrich, San Francisco/Hawaii Age and Occupation: 30, Fashion Buyer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 38, Copywriter Engagement Date: October 4, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2011 Venue: Sweet ceremony by the sea and sunset celebration on the North Shore of Hawaii About Me: Born in the city of angels and residing in the city by the bay, I’m a fearless fashion buyer by day, a passionate blog author by night and a dreamy bride-to-be in between. I thank my lucky stars to live in such a stunning city that gives me gifts like organic honey lavender ice cream, movie nights in the park, tucked away beaches, legendary record stores, '80s dance parties, awesome sports teams, stellar flea markets, and vintage bookshops. Oh, and I love to dance! We always find every excuse to escape to the beach, and decided a little seaside wedding in Hawaii is our idea of bliss. Full of our favorite people, music, food and sparkly lights, this is one sunset celebration we will always remember.

Desire to Inspire – Our Ceremony

If there is one place Mr. Ostrich and I love more than anything, it’s the beach.

So when we finally decided to tie this little knot, we knew in our heart of hearts where this would all take place….

A wedding in paradise! Also known as a private beach on the North Shore of Oahu.

And for this intimate ceremony by the sea, I already had vivid dreams of what it would look like. Simple, sweet and very beach chic. :)

So with these images in hand, off I went to make this dream a reality. I was hell bent on sourcing white ottoman benches and after combing the island back and forth and back again, I realized that this was going to be out of the question for this little budget bee! Bummed for only a day, I decided on the next best thing, thanks to a fantastic deal from one of my wedding vendors!

Espresso colored Chiavari Chairs with white cushions. Ever since I stumbled upon this photo I thought they would look lovely by the shore….maybe even more than the white ottoman benches! {Can you tell I’m still trying to get over them?}

And as for the rest of our ceremony by the sea components, they all came together pretty easily {thank goodness!}. There are some fantastic rental vendors in Oahu with equally fantastic rates. One of the many rentals we have is for our chuppah, also in espresso brown, to match our lovely chairs, and together, they’ll look like this photo, except in dark brown. It’s so pretty! :)

And in terms of seating arrangements, continuing our quest to redefine wedding traditions, we have been fond of the circle seating layout, like this photo here. It feels like our favorite family and friends are actual participants in our ceremony, versus an audience. What do you think?

And thanks to the many discount party rental stores online, I amassed my parasols and raffia fans at a fraction of the cost we have seen at other places!

And last but not least, just a bit of sparkle and shine as we walk down the aisle! I have been daydreaming of these magnificent paper tassel garlands from confetti system and am going to attempt to recreate them myself, in the similar color combinations below. Stay tuned for the DIY post!

Whew! That was a doozy! But that is what our dreams and realities of our ceremony include and I hope it gave you some ideas for your own. :)

Now it’s your turn, darling bees! What bits are you most excited about for your ceremony? I can’t wait to hear all of your sweet plans!

I love your ceremony inspiration photos, Miss Ostrich! We definitely share the same taste. :o )

The round seating arrangement is so unique. I really like the concept of including your guests that way… kind of like being embraced by their love + support!

I love the beachy feel you have going on, with the raffia and parasols. Very excited to see it all come together

I love you inspiration photos and I think the espresso chairs are much much better than the ottomans! ;)

We’re doing a ceremony overlooking the water so it’s been a struggle to find decorations that won’t overpower the beautiful view. I think you’ve done it perfectly!

Your beach wedding is going to be spectacular! I love the garlands, and adore the circle seating (I think we will be doing that too!). Rather than our backdrop being the ocean, ours will be snow covered trees. Candles & heat will be the focus of our decor! I can’t wait to see yours come to life!

I love your ceremony inspiration! Such a unique, stylish take on a beach wedding! I’m just bummed that we still have to wait like six months to see some beautiful Max Wanger photos of all this gorgeousness!
