So, once we officially decide on our season, it will be time to look at location. There are four of us involved here, and location can be anything from a city shoot, a beach locale, a rustic field, or specific venues such as a brewery, a winery, a paint studio, or even our own home.
Sister Starfish is a city girl through and through. I can see her loving a fun city shoot, maybe including some cool architecture. I love the city and bridge lit up behind this bride. It’s especially cool with the mix of water and city.
I love the urban feel of this. I can see sister Starfish wanting to do some downtown city shots.
Another idea floating around was an amusement park location. Mr. Starfish and I worked at one, so not only would the photos be fun and colorful, it would have some meaning for us, too.
The thing is, some locations have more meaning to Mr. Starfish and me, and some have more meaning to Sister and BIL Starfish. It’s pretty hard to narrow down with two couples.
So while we sit on the location, we also had to think of themes. Some locations come with themes, but with others we’d need to add our own. Do we want to include props, or do we want to let the location speak for itself? If you have an amusement park location, you are pretty much stuck with that theme.
The biggest thing to think about a TTD is: how extreme will you go? I’ve been Googling these quite a bit and there are some that seem to be more of a beauty shoot. The bride or couple takes photos in a unique location, but the dress isn’t actually being trashed.
I love the photos of the bride below in the woods. It’s definitely a more mild trash the dress, if you can call it that, but the photos are beautiful.
Stepping it up a notch, I found this couple doing a pillow fight trash the dress. It’s super cute and unique. The good thing is, if I decided to sell my dress after the shoot, I’d actually be able to do it.
I’ve been debating selling my dress, but if we really want to do a full-on trash the dress, I wonder if we should just jump in…
and get a little dirty?
Or should we go all out to the fullest extreme and really trash the dress? I’m thinking if we take it this far, there will be no chance of selling it.
The last idea is to just actually trash the dress, like this couple:
If you were to do a post-wedding shoot, how extreme would you go? Would you go for a theme, a special location, or focus on the dress and go to the extreme?
