Ms. Cheetah, Los Angeles/Palm Springs Age and Occupation: 31, Artist, Educator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, TV Finance Engagement Date: April 2010 Wedding Date: March 2011 Venue: The Viceroy About Me: I’m a silly, sassy lady with a compulsion to create. I love to sing and dance, despite the fact that I lack any talent doing either. I somehow manage to be messy and organized at the same time. I like to spend my days road tripping, watching '80s movies, reading true crime books, buying things on sale, sending postcards, playing board games, dining at food trucks, snuggling, and drinking ginger ale. I have a weak spot for all things sweet, especially Mr. Cheetah! I’m a Chicago girl and he’s a Nor Cal boy but we love living in the City of Angels. After 10 years as a couple we are planning a fun-filled semi-destination wedding in Palm Springs. Hope you enjoy the ride!

Everything Counts in Small Amounts

October 29th, 2010 @ 1:32 pm by Ms Cheetah

In just a couple short weeks we will be just four months away from the Cheetah Wedding. I haven’t had a time freak-out yet. (I’m expecting one of those when it actually hits 2011. “Happy New Ye—holy pickle shoes! Our wedding is in two months! Stop the party—where are my wedding binder and my best pinking shears?”)

I’m actually feeling pretty good about what we have planned so far. We have a venue, photographer, my dress, a florist, a DJ…most of the big stuff. What I am worried about is all the little things, all the fabulous details we obsess over for months and months that can help personalize a wedding (and that may or may not be noticed by the wedding guests). I know I want lots of details: cute little straws, awesome escort cards, out-of-town bags, programs…the list goes on and on…

Some awesome details:

Everything Counts in Small Amounts : wedding decor palm springs Straws

adorable straws

Everything Counts in Small Amounts : wedding decor palm springs Tablen

yummy escort cards

Everything Counts in Small Amounts : wedding decor palm springs Out Of

stylish OOT bag

Everything Counts in Small Amounts : wedding decor palm springs Custom

gorgeous programs

But I’m afraid. Afraid of committing. Not to Mr. Cheetah, of course, but to the design of all these little things. I’m so afraid I’m going to spend lots of time and money creating some fabulous little thing, only to decide a month later that it doesn’t go with our overall look. That I will use the bold sans-serif font when should have used the swirly script font. That I’ll print out dozens of items and later decide that one of the colors is off. But time is dwindling down, and I’ve got to get crafting. My plan right now is to start designing the invitations and use that as the design model/springboard for all the other details. Now I just have to commit to an invitation design…

ME TOO. I had this exact thought earlier…about the color of ribbon I am using for my ribbon wreaths, and about the BM dresses (which I have not found yet, bc I am waiting for something awesome to come along)! I have no advice but we can be noncommittal together!

Invitation design is scaring me, too! Designing your own = limitless options… and I’m already indecisive!
Best of luck, dear!

Did you steal the thoughts from my head?… because this is exactly how I feel. My palms sweat because I’m so nervous about committing to paper!

@Future Frett: I can totally relate! All these wonderful ideas whirl around my mind all day at work. Then I worry I’ll spend too much time and money on them and hate them after. I’m EXTREMELY indecisive, it takes me days or months to decide on the smallest detail. In the end will anyone even notice except for those other 2 or 3 ladies who are into weddings??

Story of my life, Cheetah! I think the script vs. san serif debate is taking over my brain so much that I can’t think about anything else!

Cheetah and @Miss Giraffe: YES! I need to send my invitation design to my letterpress printer in the next few weeks, and I JUST CAN’T COMMIT! Damn you, font decisions!!!

My advice is commit!! And get started on these projects. I had to let a few go because I waited until the month before and ran out of time. Good luck though and have fun- this is the fun creative part!

I’m okay on the committment part - but am definitely with you on the ‘holy crap I have 4 months to do lots of little amazing things!’ part. It’ll work!

Oh I am the same way about everything (especially about the wedding). I think it all comes down to committing and then just talking your decisions up to yourself (”Good choice!” “This is going to be awesome!”) Good luck with decisions!

I have been feeling the exact same way about committing to the details. Only now Im realising that I need to start committing fast to get everything finished in time!

If you’re like me at all, you’ll feel much better once you finish even one project that includes details…..and then worry about having a total change of theme about a month prior to the wedding :-)

I think the same things! I am so afraid of actually buying supplies when I go to craft stores because I think that I may want to change my mind after I start the project! It is the worst feeling, and also preventing me from getting a head start on all the details and little things! I guess we are just going to have to start trusting ourselves and our visions so that we can actually get something done!

ohhh fonts, too many to choose from! i hear ya, cheetah - i love script and serif equally…so for us, we’re doing a little of both. we’re going to have our names on our invite scripted but everything else in our favorite font. maybe you can do a little bit of both, too!!!
