Mrs. Cheeseburger, Baltimore, MD/State College, PAAge and Occupation: 25, Medical StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Medical StudentEngagement Date: June 28, 2008Wedding Date: March 2010Venue: Catholic Church Ceremony & Hotel ReceptionAbout Me: I'm a passionate girl from Pittsburgh, currently living in Baltimore for school, who loves Penn State, seeing movies, football, thunderstorms, black and white photos, Christmas, good beer, my amazing friends and family, and of course, my mister! We met, fell in love, got engaged, and will be married at our alma mater (go lions!) in a traditional Catholic ceremony followed by a hotel reception with lots of DIY details. It means so much to have our families and friends meet at our favorite place on earth to celebrate our love for one another - I truly couldn't ask for anything more!
Mrs. Giraffe, ChicagoAge and Occupation: 23, Graphic DesignerFiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Music Student TeacherEngagement Date: October 23, 2008Wedding Date: May 2011Venue: Trinity Lutheran Church & Idlewild Country ClubAbout Me: Coming from the suburbs of the Windy City, you'll often find me with my foot in my mouth while laughing for no reason or telling bad knock knock jokes. I've been crafty for as long as I can remember, and will DIY something twice over before I have someone do it for me. I'm a semi-awkward, typeface obsessed, design junkie and have been know to break out my dance moves for no reason as well as try my best to be ridiculous at all times. My love of pop culture, wordplay, and graph paper almost rivals my love of Mr. Giraffe (who is just the bee's knees). After a 2.5 year engagement, we're planning a modern-in-disguise traditional wedding, and cannot wait!
So I have decided I need to buy baker’s twine for future wedding crafts. What are those future crafts, you ask? Welllll, I honestly have no idea, but I’ve convinced myself that that little tidbit of information is completely irrelevant. Word.
What does that mean? Well, that I have to buy it now, of course, even though I have no idea what I’ll do with it. I might have some sort of idea. I’m dying to use it wrap around our invites all M. Stewart like, but I feel like I can’t make a decision to do that in the future when, currently, I have no idea what the invitations will look like. (Yeah, that’s on the future to-do list).
I found little groups of yards of twine on Etsy for a dollar. I even found 100 yards for $6.95. That seems like a good, deal…right? Well, not exactly. I mean 100 yards sounds like a lot, but what if I need like two feet for each invite? Yeah, not going to happen.
So I did some looking, being the smart (cough—cheap—cough) girl I am.
Ms. Cheetah, Los Angeles/Palm Springs
Age and Occupation: 31, Artist, EducatorFiance's Age and Occupation: 32, TV FinanceEngagement Date: April 2010Wedding Date: March 2011Venue: The ViceroyAbout Me: I’m a silly, sassy lady with a compulsion to create. I love to sing and dance, despite the fact that I lack any talent doing either. I somehow manage to be messy and organized at the same time. I like to spend my days road tripping, watching '80s movies, reading true crime books, buying things on sale, sending postcards, playing board games, dining at food trucks, snuggling, and drinking ginger ale. I have a weak spot for all things sweet, especially Mr. Cheetah! I’m a Chicago girl and he’s a Nor Cal boy but we love living in the City of Angels. After 10 years as a couple we are planning a fun-filled semi-destination wedding in Palm Springs. Hope you enjoy the ride!

I’m just going to go ahead and say it—yay for side ponytails.
There was something for everyone at Ines Di Santo’s runway show this year. Modern, dramatic, sheaths, ball gowns, and everything in between! I’ve been paring down the images to post, but it was hard to delete any images from this collection—I loved so many!
Why not just kill the suspense and kick it off with my favorite dress from the collection:
Mrs. Meerkat, Kalamazoo, MI/Riviera MayaAge and Occupation: 30, Application EngineerFiance's Age and Occupation: 23, IT ConsultantEngagement Date: July 26, 2008Wedding Date: December 2010Venue: Al Cielo / La LagunaAbout Me: I’m a tech-savvy tomboy with an affinity for hot tea and good sushi. Us Meerkats are just a couple fun lovin’ geeks from Michigan. We love anything having to do with movies, books, video games or technology and we hold a special place in our hearts for our two very spoiled shih-tzus, Wicket and Bravo. We also LOVE to travel. We love it so much it only took us 12 hours after we got engaged to decide to have a destination wedding. We are working our little Meerkat tails off planning a rustic-chic, travel themed destination wedding in the Riviera Maya with a semi-formal, vintage-turned-modern, outdoor at home reception back here in Michigan.
I love vintage Hollywood glamour, which is why my dress and my girls’ dresses all have that hint of Hollywood-glamour-meets-rock-star going on. So when I went to find jewelry, I wanted something that this lady right here would have loved to wear:
I love Ingrid Burgman’s style. Classy yet bold. I spent a long time looking for jewelry that fit that criterion, but with all the detail going on in my dress it also had to be simple. When I saw this photo on Overstock, I knew this was what I was looking for: Read more…
Mrs. Pin Cushion, Oakland, CAAge and Occupation: 25, Nurse Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, PhD StudentEngagement Date: November 23, 2008Wedding Date: July 2010Venue: Radonich Ranch, Los GatosAbout Me: I'm the 3 Cs: crafty, creative and quirky (oh, that's not a C? Close enough!). I'm also a recycling fanatic, fluent in bad accents and I have the loudest laughter this side of the Mississippi. I have not just one sweet tooth, but a whole mouth full of sweet teeth. I cry at 97.4% of all movies I see, but my fiance's always there to hand me a tissue. My geek-chic fiance and I are planning a wedding full of color, cookies and handmade goodness and I can't wait to spill the beans on all of our crazy ideas!
After writing our ceremony, we Pin Cushions still needed to tackle our wedding vows. But instead of a tackle, it ended up being more of a bob and weave; we avoided writing those vows for days… which became weeks and ::shudder:: finally months. Our vows did not get written until the night before the wedding!
Everything is more beautiful after the pressure of the vows is off…
It was easy enough to let the procrastination bug get the better of us. There was so much pressure tied up with the vows! Vows are supposed to be the ultimate statement of love to one another, a promise of your life together. Each time we mentioned to each other that perhaps we should think about writing them, I would feel my chest tighten up and a cold sweat break out.
After putting it off for as long as we possibly could, we finally agreed upon a general format: Read more…

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 38, CopywriterEngagement Date: October 4, 2009Wedding Date: April 2011Venue: Sweet ceremony by the sea and sunset celebration on the North Shore of HawaiiAbout Me: Born in the city of angels and residing in the city by the bay, I’m a fearless fashion buyer by day, a passionate blog author by night and a dreamy bride-to-be in between. I thank my lucky stars to live in such a stunning city that gives me gifts like organic honey lavender ice cream, movie nights in the park, tucked away beaches, legendary record stores, '80s dance parties, awesome sports teams, stellar flea markets, and vintage bookshops. Oh, and I love to dance! We always find every excuse to escape to the beach, and decided a little seaside wedding in Hawaii is our idea of bliss. Full of our favorite people, music, food and sparkly lights, this is one sunset celebration we will always remember.

Mrs. Jaguar, SydneyAge and Occupation: 27, Primary School TeacherFiance's Age and Occupation: 29, IT ConsultantEngagement Date: August 8, 2009Wedding Date: June 2011Venue: Curzon HallAbout Me: I'm an Australian girl who is a self-proclaimed nerd, loves all things stationery and would be lost without books, music and the internet. Mr. Jaguar and I have been together for the past eight years and he finally popped the question last August. Hurrah! We currently live in Sydney, Australia with our adorable cat who thinks he's a person. We're a couple who likes to multi-task: we've been planning a wedding abroad, a permanent move from London to Sydney, and preparing to build our own home all at the same time. Travelling makes me giddy...as does Mr. Jaguar, of course!
When you dip your toes into the world of wedding planning, there are so many things to do, options to choose from, ways to spend your hard-earned dollars, opinions that need placating. The list goes on, and it can be seriously overwhelming—especially if you’re not good with making decisions, like yours truly.
Since I’m still in the early stages of planning, I’m not feeling buried under the pressure of it all…yet. Having a long engagement is a blessing in that respect. But what I’ve quickly discovered for myself is that sometimes having too much time to gather information can very quickly lead to a severe case of the crazies.
I was never the kind of girl who had her whole wedding planned out for her. No scrapbooks lovingly filled with cut-out wedding photos, no dreams of twirly dresses, no epic floral arrangements. I knew I wanted to get married one day, but that was it. Of course, then I met Mr. Jaguar and things changed slightly, especially after our first few years together. But we were young, I was impatient, and we had more important things happening that kept me busy and a little less fixated on the whole Ring Watch thing.
Because of this, I was a bit of a failure at all things wedding when we finally got engaged. To be fair, there wasn’t a great deal I could do at the beginning; we knew we were having a long engagement, we had no date set, and we were thousands of miles away from friends, family, and vendors back home. Mrs. Starfish, Boston/NewportAge and Occupation: 25, Operations AssistantFiance's Age and Occupation: 25, SalesEngagement Date: October 8, 2008Wedding Date: October 2010Venue: The Atlantic Beach ClubAbout Me: I'm a perfectionist who is a planner at heart. I don't do well with surprises. I love planning, crafting, Newport RI, family and friends, and most importantly, Mr. Starfish---all of which will be big components in our October wedding in our favorite little city by the sea.
I felt like I was Christmas shopping the weeks leading up to the wedding with all the gifts we had to buy. It was so much fun! We of course did the gifts for our parents, wedding party, and each other, but there were a few other gifts that popped up.
Like gifts for readers. We weren’t really sure if you get something for the readers, but we chose people who are really special in our lives and wanted to get something to thank them not only for participating in our wedding ceremony, but for all the love and support they’ve given us over the years. Our readers were Mr. Starfish’s ant (yes, “ant”), my aunt, and Mr. Starfish’s cousin.
For Starfish Aunt and Ant, we got each of them a mix of treats from Newport Chocolates.
Ms. Stripes, Los AngelesAge and Occupation: 29, Costume Designer/StylistFiancee's Age and Occupation: 29, ChefEngagement Date: June 23, 2009Wedding Date: September 2010Venue: Heritage Square MuseumAbout Me: I’m a type A creative with a messy streak, a loud mouth, and an uncanny knack for combining clashing patterns. I can usually be found with my nose in a book, my feet (or at least my toes) on the ground, my head in the clouds, and my arm around the prettiest girl you ever saw- aka
Fiancee Stripes. Together we’re planning a FUN vintage/modern French carnival wedding extravaganza and rockin’ dance party on a dime. (Say that three times fast!) Good coffee, long lists, Uniball pens, and my iPhone keep me sane, and making art, making trouble, and making out keep me happy! I love urban adventures, bike rides that end with afternoon drinks, breakfast for dinner, beautiful light, photography, travel, my furry family, and of course, my beautiful fiancee! I’m super excited to be here and can’t wait to share all our adventures as we craft a joyful, budget-friendly, design-savvy and all-around AWESOME wedding!
Sorry for all the pointless apologies and start/stop blogging around here lately. I guess you could say I’m in transition? I’m figuring out how to go from being a bride, naturally interested in ALL things wedding, to a normal person, interested in art and food and travel and hanging out with my wife on the couch. Big Sigh. Being a normal person is great! Unfortunately though, normal people aren’t so interested in writing howtomakeyourownawesomebowtietutorials and other such nonsense. Normal people have free time to throw baby showers, redo blogs, decorate their homes, and attend other people’s weddings. Just saying we’re not spending ALL our time on the couch!
That said I’m doing my best to motivate and share all the projects/thoughts about our wedding/marriage that I just never got around to. So today let’s talk about our music selection, and then maybe, just maybe, I’ll find it in myself to share a few more projects. Maybe I’ll even write a tutorial or two. Read more…
Ms. Sloth, PhiladelphiaAge and Occupation: 35, Account Manager and Fashion BloggerFiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Design AdminEngagement Date: December 25, 2009Wedding Date: May 2011Venue: Bartram's GardenAbout Me: I'm an internet junkie and music snob with a good eye for a bargain. I couldn't live without thrift store shopping, cheeseburgers, sushi, Coke Zero, websites devoted to silly photos of baby animals, Photoshop, and Mr. Sloth. Speaking of which, he and I are a pair of goofball homebody nerds who love our beagle (the most ridiculously adorable dog EVER) to an embarrassing degree. We're planning a low-key and intimate yet festive and quirky outdoor wedding with DIY details and deeply personal touches, and it's all taking place in the city where we fell in love and call home: Philadelphia.
A few months ago, right after we’d booked our venue, I was talking to one of my coworkers while heating up my Lean Cuisine in the kitchen. He asked the details of the wedding, and I told him that it was going to be at a botanical garden in May. He replied, “Sounds nice, but I hope that neither one of you has allergies.”
Well, crap.
We totally hadn’t thought of that, but it’s a major issue. The boy has terrible allergies in the spring. My allergies are much worse in the fall, but spring is no picnic for me, either. I can think of two outdoor weddings I’ve attended in the past few years—one in April, one in September—where I was a sniffling, miserable mess.
But that cannot happen on our wedding day. I won’t allow it.
Over the past few years, I’ve learned some ways to stop my allergies from getting too insane. So here are some of my tips: Read more…
Mrs. Cardigan, AustinAge and Occupation: 21, Student/Soon-to-be Special Education TeacherFiance's Age and Occupation: 20, Student/Soon-to-be Accounting Systems AnalystEngagement Date: August 16, 2009Wedding Date: January 2011Venue: Vintage VillasAbout Me: I'm a native Austinite who was raised as a die-hard Aggie. Luckily, I'm a pretty persuasive girl because I managed to convince my high school boyfriend (now fiance!), Mr. Cardigan, to ditch his hardcore Longhorn ways and join me up at A&M, where we currently reside with our adorable dogs, Cullen & Ranger. We're currently planning a bright, cheery wedding with a ridiculous amount of DIY projects that I can't wait to tackle! I love crafting in any form, reading, and margaritas (I think I love them the most!). Organization is what keeps me sane and I love helping others, which is probably why I ended up as an education major. It gets a little chaotic sometimes when you're planning a wedding among all of the papers, projects, finals, and certification exams, but we're having the time of our lives and we can't wait to get started on our journey as husband and wife - and we're so excited to share our wedding with the hive!
I wasn’t so sure about this trend at first, but I’ve come to fully embrace it. I think it’s adorable, hilarious, and whimsical and I’ve decided I absolutely have to have them at my wedding. We needed some props for our photo booth anyways, so it works out perfectly!
