Mrs. Giraffe, Chicago
Age and Occupation: 23, Graphic Designer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Music Student Teacher
Engagement Date: October 23, 2008
Wedding Date: May 2011
Venue: Trinity Lutheran Church & Idlewild Country Club
About Me: Coming from the suburbs of the Windy City, you'll often find me with my foot in my mouth while laughing for no reason or telling bad knock knock jokes. I've been crafty for as long as I can remember, and will DIY something twice over before I have someone do it for me. I'm a semi-awkward, typeface obsessed, design junkie and have been know to break out my dance moves for no reason as well as try my best to be ridiculous at all times. My love of pop culture, wordplay, and graph paper almost rivals my love of Mr. Giraffe (who is just the bee's knees). After a 2.5 year engagement, we're planning a modern-in-disguise traditional wedding, and cannot wait!
Mr. Giraffe! If you’re reading this, go away! This post isn’t for you; I’m the one that’s supposed to ruin surprises, not you!

Ms. Sloth, Philadelphia
Age and Occupation: 35, Account Manager and Fashion Blogger
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Design Admin
Engagement Date: December 25, 2009
Wedding Date: May 2011
Venue: Bartram's Garden
About Me: I'm an internet junkie and music snob with a good eye for a bargain. I couldn't live without thrift store shopping, cheeseburgers, sushi, Coke Zero, websites devoted to silly photos of baby animals, Photoshop, and Mr. Sloth. Speaking of which, he and I are a pair of goofball homebody nerds who love our beagle (the most ridiculously adorable dog EVER) to an embarrassing degree. We're planning a low-key and intimate yet festive and quirky outdoor wedding with DIY details and deeply personal touches, and it's all taking place in the city where we fell in love and call home: Philadelphia.
Remember my promise? The promise that I made to Mr. S that I wouldn’t take on any DIY projects that were too stressful?
Well, I hope I don’t break that promise. Because I’ve decided that I’m going to make a brooch bouquet.
I mean, look at these:

Mrs. Sand Dollar, Houston
Age and Occupation: 24, Graphic Designer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 22, Electrical Technician
Engagement Date: January 8, 2010
Wedding Date: September 2010
Venue: MacLean Park
About Me: I'm a domestic diva down to the core. I heart cooking, sewing, baking, decorating and making sure we have a hand-crafted home. The best part about the wedding is I get to incorporate it all! I make sure I put my art degree to good use by screen printing, craft knife cutting, and a whole lotta graphic design. We're having a big-time party on a small-time budget, and I promise to show you a boot-scootin', barbecue-eatin', finger-lickin' good time! Mr. Sand Dollar and I spend most of our time on DIY projects or traipsing around the outdoors with our two pooches Rory and Juno. I'm looking forward to sharing our journey with all of you!
We’d finished up with all the pre-ceremony pics, and now it was time for the big show.

Getting everyone together was like herding cats. If you’re choosing to run your own show, I’d definitely recommend walking everyone through it a couple of times beforehand. I had planned to, then we ran out of time. This was one more minute of craziness, which isn’t exactly ideal right before you’re exchanging vows. But, oh well, it’s all water under the bridge. While we were organizing, guests were making use of our program fans.

Rivini’s collection for Fall 2011 featured dresses inspired by Monet’s Gardens in Giverny, France. Flowers and petals were featured on many of the dresses in incredibly unexpected ways! I definitely had several faves from this show so we’ll open with one and close with another. I couldn’t pick one favorite if I tried!
How about a short dress for my first favorite? That skirt is so fun!

Amsale’s fall 2011 collection is as modern as ever. I left this show wistful to get married all over again so I could wear one of these stunning gowns. Soft and structured at the same time—Amsale makes it happen.
To kick off this post, a “very Amsale” dress. To me, to wear Amsale is to really rock her natural waisted ball gown signature style! I’d have to say this was my favorite dress as well, with the gorgeous crinkle silk chiffon skirt:

Hola hive! I just got in from dinner with Mrs. Ant, Mrs. Trail Mix, Mrs. Hamster, Mrs. Caramel, and Mrs. D’orsay! It’s around 1AM and I’ve got a load of blogging to do tonight to cover Bridal Market for the hive while I’m out at shows tomorrow, but first, I wanted to bring you along with me to Saturday at market!
10 AM - After a breakfast burrito with Mrs. D’orsay, I’m dressed and ready to go. I went with a J.Crew dress/flower belt with a cream Anthro sweater and some knee high boots. NYC is cold so I’ve got all the extremities covered!

We kicked off the day today at Christos! The small details really took Christos’ Fall 2011 collection from simple to stunning.
Why not just start off with my fave? This dotted organza number reminded me a little bit of Mrs. Scissors and would be my pick for a lighthearted warm-weather wedding.

Mrs. D’orsay and I dropped by to check out Claire Pettibone’s newest collection. The line was inspired by one of Claire’s favorite childhood books called The Fairy Circus. A woodsy setting, tons of sparkle, and a barefoot bride embodies her latest creations. Backs were not an afterthought in this collection; the dresses looked just as amazing going as they did coming. To set the mood, the show kicked off with fairies serving drinks:

I’m so excited to share this collection with the hive! Kevan Hall is known for his amazing red carpet gowns and they’ve inspired his new bridal collection for spring 2011. This was my first time previewing Kevan Hall’s gowns and I was in awe over the sophistication.
Random fun fact: Kevan Hall is Mrs. Sewing’s uncle!

Mrs. Jaguar, Sydney
Age and Occupation: 27, Primary School Teacher
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, IT Consultant
Engagement Date: August 8, 2009
Wedding Date: June 2011
Venue: Curzon Hall
About Me: I'm an Australian girl who is a self-proclaimed nerd, loves all things stationery and would be lost without books, music and the internet. Mr. Jaguar and I have been together for the past eight years and he finally popped the question last August. Hurrah! We currently live in Sydney, Australia with our adorable cat who thinks he's a person. We're a couple who likes to multi-task: we've been planning a wedding abroad, a permanent move from London to Sydney, and preparing to build our own home all at the same time. Travelling makes me giddy...as does Mr. Jaguar, of course!
I can’t even tell you how I decided on my wedding colours. They just…happened. When I got engaged, the first thing people asked was WHEN ARE YOU GETTING MARRIED? WHERE WILL IT BE? HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE COMING? These questions were closely followed by HAVE YOU GOT YOUR DRESS YET? WHAT COLOUR DRESSES ARE YOUR GIRLS WEARING? and WHAT COLOUR UNDERWEAR ARE YOU WEARING?
OK, maybe not that last one. But definitely everything else. People seem to lose their filter from brain to mouth when they hear about weddings! My married friends tell me it just gets worse after the wedding…then come the child-related questions. Joy of joys!
Anyway, one day I just woke up and I knew what I wanted. And that was back in August of last year. The fact that I’m still in love with my colour scheme over a year later is a pretty good sign that it was meant to be…so I’m sticking with it. Our colours are going to be shades of grey*, green, and ivory. Here they are on a nifty little palette for you to admire:

Mrs. Elephant, Dallas, TX

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, IT Student/Store Manager
Engagement Date: March 29, 2009
Wedding Date: April 2011
Venue: The Tribute Golf Club
About Me: I'm a Philly native creating roots deep in the heart of Texas. I might be a little obsessed capturing those Kodak moments of anything and everything (mainly on vacations). I've become more of a gamer thanks to Mr. Elephant, who I met online and can't wait to spend the rest of my life with. We are planning a wedding based on our favorite colors, blue and green, with a travel theme for 150 of our closest friends and family. Hopefully our long (2-year) engagement won't kill me!
What does the word wedding mean to you?
We have a couple of friends secretly get married at the courthouse without telling any of their friends for more than a couple of months. I was so excited for them when they finally broke the news, which they kept to themselves because they were planning to still have a small local wedding. When they looked at the price of throwing a wedding and the planning involved they decided to forgo the wedding and just announce that they had been Mr. and Mrs. for a little while.

Carrie and Mr. Big after their courthouse wedding
Now, I know that for the majority of the readers of wedding blogs planning the wedding is the fun part, but when I heard our friends’ news I stopped a minute and thought about what it would have been like to just get married without the party.

Here’s a good idea (especially if people love looking at your face): how about a custom stamp of you and your fiance to stamp on just about everything?!
