Ms. Cheetah, Los Angeles/Palm Springs
Age and Occupation: 31, Artist, Educator
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, TV Finance
Engagement Date: April 2010
Wedding Date: March 2011
Venue: The Viceroy
About Me: I’m a silly, sassy lady with a compulsion to create. I love to sing and dance, despite the fact that I lack any talent doing either. I somehow manage to be messy and organized at the same time. I like to spend my days road tripping, watching '80s movies, reading true crime books, buying things on sale, sending postcards, playing board games, dining at food trucks, snuggling, and drinking ginger ale. I have a weak spot for all things sweet, especially Mr. Cheetah! I’m a Chicago girl and he’s a Nor Cal boy but we love living in the City of Angels. After 10 years as a couple we are planning a fun-filled semi-destination wedding in Palm Springs. Hope you enjoy the ride!
In just a couple short weeks we will be just four months away from the Cheetah Wedding. I haven’t had a time freak-out yet. (I’m expecting one of those when it actually hits 2011. “Happy New Ye—holy pickle shoes! Our wedding is in two months! Stop the party—where are my wedding binder and my best pinking shears?”)
I’m actually feeling pretty good about what we have planned so far. We have a venue, photographer, my dress, a florist, a DJ…most of the big stuff. What I am worried about is all the little things, all the fabulous details we obsess over for months and months that can help personalize a wedding (and that may or may not be noticed by the wedding guests). I know I want lots of details: cute little straws, awesome escort cards, out-of-town bags, programs…the list goes on and on…
Some awesome details:

Mrs. Knitting, Toronto
Age and Occupation: 24, Student Recruitment Assistant
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Neuroscience PhD Candidate
Engagement Date: October 2009
Wedding Date: December 2010
Venue: University of Toronto Faculty Club
About Me: I'm a pearl wearing, etiquette book reading Toronto girl who loves cooking and baking, museums, charm bracelets, and collecting books on Jackie Kennedy (a lot). I've been known to spend Sunday mornings at the antique market, Wednesday evenings at sister sushi dinners, and any bit of spare time reading. After six and a half years of many late night walks, watching DVDs together in bed, travelling to places like New York, and Tobermory, doing Sudokus together on the couch, lots of Indian food, the occasional yoga class, moving in together and so much more, Mr. Knitting and I are planning a cozy Christmasy (it's a word!), vintage wedding in Toronto complete with many DIY projects (eek!) and lots of help from our amazing group of family and friends.

Okay, it will probably rain, but still…
I’m really happy with the place that we ended up booking for our outdoor photography. We’ve booked Spadina Museum, which is this gorgeous old Toronto home that now functions as a museum depicting life in Toronto in the 1920s and ’30s. While the home itself is fantastic, it’s the grounds I’m most interested in at the moment.

Age and Occupation: 26, Electrical Engineer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Finance
Engagement Date: July 12, 2008
Wedding Date: October 2009
Venue: Church Ceremony/Reception at The Waterford House
About Me: I am a true, but rare, Austinite---I was born, raised, and continue to live in this great city! Although
I am an engineer by day, I feed my inner creative side through crafting, sewing, and obsessing over Martha Stewart. I love coffee, my mister, NPR, and exploring all the nooks and crannies of Austin.
I can't wait to share my adventures in DIY and wedding planning with all of you!

After our Pastor finished his message, Mr. Beagle’s cousin serenaded everyone with a song, “The Prayer”.

Mrs. Zebra, Providence, RI
Age and Occupation: 24 Marketing/Costume Designer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26 Management/Firefighter
Engagement Date: December 12, 2008
Wedding Date: March 2011
Venue: The Providence Biltmore
About Me: I'm a small town New England girl with an affinity for procrastination, crossing the proverbial line, and putting her foot in her mouth. I'm a lover of history, all seasons, sewing and Incubus. I design costumes on the side for my old high school's theatre department, which is where I met my sexy man. Our motto for our Big Fat Lebanese/Portuguese/Irish near-300 person wedding is "the more the merrier"! We are marrying in a Catholic ceremony and are hammering out the details of our Victorian-inspired reception.

Call Me!
I always give people the benefit of the doubt. If I take the time to send out a thoughtfully written email and I receive no response I get a slight eye twitch. When I call them to follow up, I usually say something along the lines of, “I’m not sure if you received my email, I sent it about a week ago, but I was wondering…” If they say no, I usually say something along the lines of, “Oh, my email has been acting a little funny.” Now, I’ve got you. Depending on how someone responds to this, illustrates the kind of person they are.

Mrs. Meerkat, Kalamazoo, MI/Riviera Maya
Age and Occupation: 30, Application Engineer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 23, IT Consultant
Engagement Date: July 26, 2008
Wedding Date: December 2010
Venue: Al Cielo / La Laguna
About Me: I’m a tech-savvy tomboy with an affinity for hot tea and good sushi. Us Meerkats are just a couple fun lovin’ geeks from Michigan. We love anything having to do with movies, books, video games or technology and we hold a special place in our hearts for our two very spoiled shih-tzus, Wicket and Bravo. We also LOVE to travel. We love it so much it only took us 12 hours after we got engaged to decide to have a destination wedding. We are working our little Meerkat tails off planning a rustic-chic, travel themed destination wedding in the Riviera Maya with a semi-formal, vintage-turned-modern, outdoor at home reception back here in Michigan.
Remember my super cool idea for a first dance to the song conquest? Well that is probably not going to happen now (at least not for Mexico, but maybe for the at home reception?).
Last week I told Mr. Meerkat it was time to book our dance lessons and he gave me his best “I am going to man up and do this for you” smile. Mr. Meerkat is one of those guys that wears his heart on his sleeve so he is terrible at hiding his feelings. Seriously, he looked pathetic! He finally confessed and said he was scared to try this ’cause he is not a good dancer but was going to do his best because I was so excited. This, right here, is why I love him. He would bend over backwards to try and make me happy.
Since this is OUR first dance I thought it was only fair that we both have something we enjoy but I am still not totally on board with a traditional style dance. I think my biggest fear with a slow first dance is that after 10 seconds I will be bored and wishing the song would end. I don’t want to feel like that about our first dance.

Mrs. Elephant, Dallas, TX
Age and Occupation: 27, Financial Operations Analyst
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, IT Student/Store Manager
Engagement Date: March 29, 2009
Wedding Date: April 2011
Venue: The Tribute Golf Club
About Me: I'm a Philly native creating roots deep in the heart of Texas. I might be a little obsessed capturing those Kodak moments of anything and everything (mainly on vacations). I've become more of a gamer thanks to Mr. Elephant, who I met online and can't wait to spend the rest of my life with. We are planning a wedding based on our favorite colors, blue and green, with a travel theme for 150 of our closest friends and family. Hopefully our long (2-year) engagement won't kill me!
Hey Hive! I need some help for Mr. E. Back in the day, I mentioned the ties we selected for the dads, groomsmen and ushers, but we had yet to pick one for the groom.
We did end up finding another slate tie for the best man, but still kept the navy one. We thought this could be a possibility for Mr. E.

The only reason why I’m not gung ho on this look was because I didn’t feel like Mr. E would stand out enough.

Mrs. Giraffe, Chicago
Age and Occupation: 23, Graphic Designer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Music Student Teacher
Engagement Date: October 23, 2008
Wedding Date: May 2011
Venue: Trinity Lutheran Church & Idlewild Country Club
About Me: Coming from the suburbs of the Windy City, you'll often find me with my foot in my mouth while laughing for no reason or telling bad knock knock jokes. I've been crafty for as long as I can remember, and will DIY something twice over before I have someone do it for me. I'm a semi-awkward, typeface obsessed, design junkie and have been know to break out my dance moves for no reason as well as try my best to be ridiculous at all times. My love of pop culture, wordplay, and graph paper almost rivals my love of Mr. Giraffe (who is just the bee's knees). After a 2.5 year engagement, we're planning a modern-in-disguise traditional wedding, and cannot wait!
I know, I know. I need to make up my mind. We’re running out of time to get these STDs done (or, umm, started).
Unfortunately, I’m horrible about making up my mind! I change it daily about all this saving-the-date buisness. I’m kind of worried I’ll end up just turning out crap because I’ve waited so long to get this done and I’ll just have to make something rather than have nothing. Eep.
OK, all those negative, worrisome thoughts aside (where they belong), here’s what crazy harebrained scheme I’ve cooked up now: save-the-date magnets!
I know, I know. It’s not a new idea; people have been doing it forever, but for some reason, I never considered it until now. If I was being totally honest, I’d let you know that I’d never considered it until a few weeks ago when I actually had a dream about save the dates…yes, I’m that obsessed.
Regardless of how the idea occurred to me, now I’m kind of smitten with it! I mean, what does a person do when they get an important STD in the mail? Put it on their fridge!

Engagement Date: May 9, 2008
Wedding Date: May 2009
Blogging Since: September 14, 2008

About Me: I’m a girl who is crazy about Mr. Taffy, sewing, dancing, almost all types of sweets, and our cute pet canaries. I dislike touching fuzzy fabric of any kind, eating somewhat squishy food, and Michigan winters. Mr. Taffy and I are having a blast planning our Ann Arbor wedding, and cannot wait to share our day with friends and family.
You watched as we made it down the aisle. Now, our ceremony continues!

Ms. Sloth, Philadelphia
Age and Occupation: 35, Account Manager and Fashion Blogger
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Design Admin
Engagement Date: December 25, 2009
Wedding Date: May 2011
Venue: Bartram's Garden
About Me: I'm an internet junkie and music snob with a good eye for a bargain. I couldn't live without thrift store shopping, cheeseburgers, sushi, Coke Zero, websites devoted to silly photos of baby animals, Photoshop, and Mr. Sloth. Speaking of which, he and I are a pair of goofball homebody nerds who love our beagle (the most ridiculously adorable dog EVER) to an embarrassing degree. We're planning a low-key and intimate yet festive and quirky outdoor wedding with DIY details and deeply personal touches, and it's all taking place in the city where we fell in love and call home: Philadelphia.
It’s been an emotional few days in wedding-planning land, folks.
It began with the startling realization that we’re not going to be able to afford our wedding.
Neither one of us is stupid, but we were shocked to realize that there is no way in hell we’re going to be able to afford this wedding we’ve planned. It’s not like we’ve planned an expensive wedding. We picked the cheapest caterer out of our options and the cheapest menu that the caterer offered. We chose the cheapest photographer. A friend of ours is DJ-ing for a steal. Another friend of ours is making cupcakes for the cost of supplies. We’re not hiring limos or having an ice sculpture or even having fresh-flower bouquets. We’re not having a videographer. My future sister-in-law is doing our hair for free.
I thought we were being so frugal, so smart. But there’s nothing else to cut, and we still won’t have enough money to pay for everything. In order to afford the wedding, we’ll need to save $1,000 a month every month from now until our wedding day, and there’s no way that will happen. We’ll be able to make a big dent in what we currently owe, but there’s no way that we can save every penny that we need. Our families are helping out a bit, but even with their generosity, we’re not going to make it.
Mr. S and I had a ten-hour car ride yesterday, so there was plenty of time to discuss our options.

Way back in May of this year, I was invited to take part in a runway inspired fashion spread for the fall issue of Martha Stewart Weddings. I was one of the real wedding industry peeps in the audience, and you can see me in three of the fashion shots! Of course I have tons of fun behind the scenes pics to share with you!

Age and Occupation: 24, Web Writer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Music Recording Engineer
Engagement Date: March 13, 2010
Wedding Date: July 2011
Venue: The Inn at Longshore
About Me: I'm a total goofball who goes through life at a breakneck pace, trying not to knock anything over. I tend to fall in love with everything I encounter, but more than anything, I love my two little kitties, Bela and Josie, and my big kitty, Mr. Panther! As a wannabe crafter, I'm still waiting for my artistic talents to emerge. (Any day now, really.) In the meantime, I spend my days eating anything put in front of me, buying every pair of shoes I see and absorbing wedding inspiration from every inch of my surroundings. Mr. Panther and I are hardcore New Englanders planning Connecticut nuptials from our new home in the Dirty South, and can't wait to mix our newfound love of classic Southern charm with some modern city touches.
If you guessed that I picked the Sottero & Midgley “Gracie” dress…you’re almost right!

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Physical Therapy Assistant Student/Future Dr. of PT
Engagement Date: December 31, 2008
Wedding Date: November 2009
Venue: Whitfield Square/Savannah Station
About Me: I'm working on my second degree from UGA (Go Dawgs!). I'm a self-proclaimed attention-w****. If it involves a camera, I'm in front of it! You'll never meet a girlier tomboy than me. I can go toe to toe with any guy on the subject of college football, and lift more than any girl in my gym, all without chipping a nail. I hope to someday be the only person you want delivering your sports news. My FI and I are the loving parents of three Labrador Retrievers (one of each color) and are planning a "Southern Romantic Charm" wedding in the beautiful, historic city of Savannah. I'm not extreme in anything except moderation... and wedding planning.
Mr. Lab and I finished our private meal and gave the DOC the go-ahead to move guests into the ballroom. We snuck back out the side door and waited until the parlour cleared before sneaking back in for introductions.
Now, let me tell you about our wedding party (aka our best friends). But I’m going to do that using songs.
If you can remember way back to this post, I used a newsletter to ask our groomsmen and bridesmaids to pick out songs that summed up their personalities. Our baseball-style line up came together and one-by-one we were introduced.
Our best man Don got things started with a dramatic, double-fisting entrance:
Carl Orff Carmina Burana Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi O Fortuna

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Lawyer & Techie Wiz
Engagement Date: August 22, 2008
Wedding Date: October 2010
Venue: The Pearl S. Buck House
About Me: I’m an easily inspired over-thinker delighted with the process of designing, building, directing and {dare I say} co-starring in the early-autumn affair I’ve been dreaming up. I’m a sucker for trendied-up comfort foods and old family anecdotes; I have an affinity for adjectives, alliteration, eyelet and earl grey; and I live for quality time with family and friends. I never guessed I’d marry my “high school sweetheart", but when it turned out to be my funny, techie, loyal Mr. Thimble I was committed for life. We’re both mid-career transition and ready to move back to small-townish TBD, PA in a pre-wedding flurry of all-good life changes.
We did it, Hive! We united in matrimony during the most beautiful ceremony I could have ever imagined. We smiled all day long…

Age and Occupation: 25, Physical Therapist
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Attorney
Engagement Date: August 29, 2009
Wedding Date: April 2011
Venue: Anthony’s Fine Dining
About Me: I’m a Southern girl with New England roots. I say "wicked" and "y’all" in the same sentence and I like to drink sweet tea with my lobster. Mr. Lion and I are both former Floridians now living in Atlanta, which fortunately is still SEC country...Go Gators! We both love baseball, coffee, traveling, cooking, and playing Words with Friends with each other on our iPhones all day long. I’m very passionate about the things and the people I love, and I tend to plan things with all of my heart...our wedding, of course, is no different! Oh, and also Mr. Lion is a first generation American of Cuban descent. I may look more like Lucy than Ricky, but I’m doing my best to incorporate some Latin elements into our vintage-garden-Southern wedding!
I love when a bride’s wedding day accessories reflect her personality. It’s even more adorable when she sneaks in a little something to reflect her significant other’s personality. And what better place for that than the garter? It’s discreet, intimate, but not any less fun! I thought that my garter would be a good place to do just that.
