Mrs. Sand Dollar, Houston
Age and Occupation: 24, Graphic Designer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 22, Electrical Technician
Engagement Date: January 8, 2010
Wedding Date: September 2010
Venue: MacLean Park
About Me: I'm a domestic diva down to the core. I heart cooking, sewing, baking, decorating and making sure we have a hand-crafted home. The best part about the wedding is I get to incorporate it all! I make sure I put my art degree to good use by screen printing, craft knife cutting, and a whole lotta graphic design. We're having a big-time party on a small-time budget, and I promise to show you a boot-scootin', barbecue-eatin', finger-lickin' good time! Mr. Sand Dollar and I spend most of our time on DIY projects or traipsing around the outdoors with our two pooches Rory and Juno. I'm looking forward to sharing our journey with all of you!
OK, we’re now back on track, whew! Once we had taken all the pretty pretty pictures, I swapped out dresses and donned my cute little ponytail. We were introduced for the first time as Mr. and Mrs!

Confession: This was hands down the most awkward part of the day. People kind of clapped, a little bit, but not really. Pretty much the only thing they were thinking about was the food. We didn’t know what to do, so basically we just wandered out into the middle of the space and waved like beauty queens. Then I yelled, “Let’s eat!” to which nobody responded. Awk-ward…

Mrs. Cardigan, Austin
Age and Occupation: 21, Student/Soon-to-be Special Education Teacher
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 20, Student/Soon-to-be Accounting Systems Analyst
Engagement Date: August 16, 2009
Wedding Date: January 2011
Venue: Vintage Villas
About Me: I'm a native Austinite who was raised as a die-hard Aggie. Luckily, I'm a pretty persuasive girl because I managed to convince my high school boyfriend (now fiance!), Mr. Cardigan, to ditch his hardcore Longhorn ways and join me up at A&M, where we currently reside with our adorable dogs, Cullen & Ranger. We're currently planning a bright, cheery wedding with a ridiculous amount of DIY projects that I can't wait to tackle! I love crafting in any form, reading, and margaritas (I think I love them the most!). Organization is what keeps me sane and I love helping others, which is probably why I ended up as an education major. It gets a little chaotic sometimes when you're planning a wedding among all of the papers, projects, finals, and certification exams, but we're having the time of our lives and we can't wait to get started on our journey as husband and wife - and we're so excited to share our wedding with the hive!
So, you’ve got fifteen pages worth of inspiration for your ceremony and no idea what to do with it? Let me help.
This part of writing the ceremony was very overwhelming, confusing, and difficult for me. I had fifteen pages of random bits and pieces of ceremonies, and no idea how to organize it. This was the second time in this process that I spent a good ten minutes just staring at the computer screen, trying to use my Jedi mind powers to will it to do the work for me.
Unfortunately, my Jedi powers need some work, and the computer just stared back at me.
So, I had to actually do something. I started by taking my ceremony order and typing it out at the top of the document. I bolded all of the different areas and made the text bigger than everything else, so it’d be easy to spot.
Then came the fun part.

Next week, I’m going to be a part of an event that I am really, really excited about! It’s called Bridal Q&A and it is put on by She-N-He Photography and Design (who just so happen to be our wedding photographers!)
Bridal Q&A will be a panel of local brides (including myself!) along with vendors from each major field of the wedding industry who are all there to answer any questions that you may have about anything wedding related. You could talk to one of the experts about how to go about choosing someone to cater your wedding, or you could chat with the brides about the best way to DIY envelope liners! If you have any burning questions about anything wedding related at all, there will be someone there who has an answer for you! Or, if you don’t have any questions, just come to hang out and chat with us!

Mrs. Hippo, New York City/Dallas, TX
Age and Occupation: 34, Event Planner for a Non-Profit
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 35, Finance IT
Engagement Date: August 8, 2009
Wedding Date: March 2011
Venue: Samuel Lynne Galleries and Marc Events
About Me: I’m a thirty-something bride living in New York City and planning a modern-ish wedding in Dallas, Texas. I love trashy reality television (Jersey Shore, anyone?), online shopping, Sunday brunch, Central Park, and random celebrity spottings on the streets of Manhattan. While I love NYC, I miss good Tex-Mex, my college friends, central A/C, and being in close proximity to a Target. I’m thrilled to finally be planning an event that’s not work-related and to be marrying my best friend in what I hope will be a unique and personal ceremony followed by a reception with plenty of good food, good drinks, and dancing (regardless if it’s good or not).
After deciding the layout of our reception venue, it was time to meet with the florist to finalize our flower order. Luckily, I had selected my florist about 12 years ago. No, seriously. The parents of one of my BMs have an awesome flower shop in Dallas, so there was absolutely no doubt in my mind that I would use them for the flower design. Yay for friendors!
Since our wedding colors are navy and yellow, it seemed only natural to go with yellow for the flowers. I absolutely love calla lilies and thought something like what Mrs. Pudding did would be perfect for our bridesmaids.
The guys will have a simple yellow mini calla lily boutonniere.

Mrs. Hot Wings, Chicago/San Diego
Age and Occupation: 28, Professor
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, Instructor
Engagement Date: December 20, 2008
Wedding Date: August 2010
Venue: Ocean View Villas/Jasmine Seafood Restaurant
About Me: I am a psychology grad student living in Chicago and planning my wedding to a fellow psych grad student. I am a Sunny So-Cal bred gal who trudged across the country to follow her love of psychology and ended up finding a partner in the process. I am overly passionate about anything I involve myself with. I am an activist, a foodie, a reality TV watching junkie, an over-analyzer, a photography obsesser, and am utterly cheesy to the core. This is a story of what happens when a boy and a girl meet, fall in love over academic dorkiness, and a shared love for life. We (mostly I) are planning our semi-destination wedding in my hometown of San Diego. We are excited to bring our families and friends together from across our lifespans to celebrate our future in a grand 400+ person culturally blended affair!

After a moment of peace with my beloved one’s final words to me, I was quickly interrupted by Mama Hot Wings. She came flying into the room carrying madness with her. I mentioned this incident once before as my wedding day low.
Let me set the stage for you.

Mrs. Elephant, Dallas, TX
Age and Occupation: 27, Financial Operations Analyst
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, IT Student/Store Manager
Engagement Date: March 29, 2009
Wedding Date: April 2011
Venue: The Tribute Golf Club
About Me: I'm a Philly native creating roots deep in the heart of Texas. I might be a little obsessed capturing those Kodak moments of anything and everything (mainly on vacations). I've become more of a gamer thanks to Mr. Elephant, who I met online and can't wait to spend the rest of my life with. We are planning a wedding based on our favorite colors, blue and green, with a travel theme for 150 of our closest friends and family. Hopefully our long (2-year) engagement won't kill me!
Another good reason to hire a wedding planner or day of coordinator?

Source
Half-way through our engagement (almost a year after booking our venue) we were notified that the event coordinator at our venue had resigned. I have heard of other instances when event coordinators have left a venue after a bride has booked her wedding, but I didn’t think that it was going to happen to us.
The main reason I did not freak out upon hearing this news?

Mrs. Moonbeam, Los Angeles/San Antonio
Age and Occupation: 26, Intern Architect
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Studio Analyst, aspiring Screenwriter
Engagement Date: May 20, 2009
Wedding Date: November 2009
Venue: Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church (LaCoste, TX) and Mary Gray Events Center (Castroville, TX)
About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, but after college I moved to Seattle for a couple of years and loved it. Then I followed my beau out here to LA and we're getting settled in. I've been making things since I can remember. I was raised by crafters. I love to sew, draw, paint, build, cook, bake (anything with a tangible end result is fair game). In that same spirit, I've been hosting since I was old enough to cook and set a fancy table. I kind of take after my grandmother, who believes that your morning OJ always tastes better out of the good crystal.
The food!
I’m not going to lie, I didn’t put much thought into the food. For apps we had standard veggie, fruit and cheese trays that were gone before Mr. MB and I even got there. Whoops. And for dinner I knew our budget, our location, and the limits of catered food and went for the old Texas standby: BBQ.

Mrs. Panther, Atlanta GA/Westport CT
Age and Occupation: 24, Web Writer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Music Recording Engineer
Engagement Date: March 13, 2010
Wedding Date: July 2011
Venue: The Inn at Longshore
About Me: I'm a total goofball who goes through life at a breakneck pace, trying not to knock anything over. I tend to fall in love with everything I encounter, but more than anything, I love my two little kitties, Bela and Josie, and my big kitty, Mr. Panther! As a wannabe crafter, I'm still waiting for my artistic talents to emerge. (Any day now, really.) In the meantime, I spend my days eating anything put in front of me, buying every pair of shoes I see and absorbing wedding inspiration from every inch of my surroundings. Mr. Panther and I are hardcore New Englanders planning Connecticut nuptials from our new home in the Dirty South, and can't wait to mix our newfound love of classic Southern charm with some modern city touches.
My new book, Calligraphy for Dummies, says calligraphy should be practiced sitting at a desk with a tilted writing surface. I’m sitting on a couch with a piano bench in front of me. Ol’ Calligraphy Jim (the author) also suggests learning with a fountain pen—I got calligraphy markers because I thought they’d be easier. Easier, as it turns out, equals cheating and does not ensure a good learning environment. Huh. I also am supposed to be practicing with specifically measured and, obviously, straight lines. I’m not so good at making straight lines.

Mrs. Giraffe, Chicago
Age and Occupation: 23, Graphic Designer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Music Student Teacher
Engagement Date: October 23, 2008
Wedding Date: May 2011
Venue: Trinity Lutheran Church & Idlewild Country Club
About Me: Coming from the suburbs of the Windy City, you'll often find me with my foot in my mouth while laughing for no reason or telling bad knock knock jokes. I've been crafty for as long as I can remember, and will DIY something twice over before I have someone do it for me. I'm a semi-awkward, typeface obsessed, design junkie and have been know to break out my dance moves for no reason as well as try my best to be ridiculous at all times. My love of pop culture, wordplay, and graph paper almost rivals my love of Mr. Giraffe (who is just the bee's knees). After a 2.5 year engagement, we're planning a modern-in-disguise traditional wedding, and cannot wait!
In our case, the answer is yes.
You see, when we were trying to budget for this shindig originally, we had not allocated that much for photography. Well, that’s not really true; I had allocated what I thought was a lot of money, but when my cash got converted into wedding dollars, it really wasn’t that much.
Here’s the thing, folks…we decided that it was worth putting more money into photography. Not only is it our wedding day with details we’ll want to remember, but we also want some nice photos of us.
Photography is a hobby of mine, so I’m usually the one taking pictures (of everything) and never in them.
Another thing about me? Wellllll, this Giraffe is a bit of a ham. Seriously. Most photos we have of me aren’t the uhhh, “nicest,” you could say.
They mostly look a little like this:

Wedding Date: June 2010
Venue: New York Botanical Garden
About Me: I love all things food, books, our furbaby, Rashi, and adventures with my amazing fiance (oh, and saving the world!). This summer I will not only be a bride, but a bridesmaid, officiant, and attendee as well---it's all about weddings in my life right now, full of so many exciting moments and projects. We're planning a fab New York City wedding weekend full of family, love and lots of color!
I had been ordained online, worked on writing the ceremony with my friend and gone to the city clerk to make sure all was legal. Catch up with part one here.
It was time to boogie!
We spent a few extra days in Ithaca before the wedding. Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to have coffee with another bee, just a few weeks before her own wedding - anyone recognize this lovely lady?

On Sunday morning, we headed over to the venue. We were a little bit worried about the weather, hearing whispers of possible rain, but we arrived and it was spectacular.

Mrs. Turtle, Central California
Age and Occupation: 21, Art Student/Teacher
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 22, English Student
Engagement Date: August 16, 2008
Wedding Date: July 2010
Venue: Mr. Turtle's Grandparents' backyard, Arroyo Grande, CA
About Me: I am a California girl who loves the beach and the mountains, but is quite satisfied living right in the middle where I can enjoy the best of both worlds. I am happiest when traveling to faraway places, wandering through museums, watching old movies, or baking up a storm. Mr. Turtle and I are high school sweethearts and fellow book nerds who both drive Mini Coopers and are most likely to be found browsing in antique stores. We're having so much fun planning our European garden wedding with a vintage twist and can't wait to share more of life's adventures together!
Okay, so remember how in my last post, I promised a couple of funny stories? Well, here you are!
After cutting the cake, I started to hurry upstairs to toss my bouquet! (That was the correct order of things… right?) Well, before I made it inside the house, our pastor approached me to remind me that if Mr. Turtle and I truly wanted to be married, we’d left out a very important part. I seriously remember having no idea what he was talking about. I really felt like I’d planned everything so well. Can any of you guys think of what our pastor could have been referring to? Here’s a clue:

Ummm… duh???

Ms. Sloth, Philadelphia
Age and Occupation: 35, Account Manager and Fashion Blogger
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Design Admin
Engagement Date: December 25, 2009
Wedding Date: May 2011
Venue: Bartram's Garden
About Me: I'm an internet junkie and music snob with a good eye for a bargain. I couldn't live without thrift store shopping, cheeseburgers, sushi, Coke Zero, websites devoted to silly photos of baby animals, Photoshop, and Mr. Sloth. Speaking of which, he and I are a pair of goofball homebody nerds who love our beagle (the most ridiculously adorable dog EVER) to an embarrassing degree. We're planning a low-key and intimate yet festive and quirky outdoor wedding with DIY details and deeply personal touches, and it's all taking place in the city where we fell in love and call home: Philadelphia.
Like Charlie Brown’s classmate, Frieda, I was born with naturally curly hair. But unlike Frieda, I wasn’t proud of it. My hair didn’t fall in smooth ringlets or sexy bedhead waves. My curls were frizzy and misshapen.

Age and Occupation: 30, Fashion Buyer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 38, Copywriter
Engagement Date: October 4, 2009
Wedding Date: April 2011
Venue: Sweet ceremony by the sea and sunset celebration on the North Shore of Hawaii
About Me: Born in the city of angels and residing in the city by the bay, I’m a fearless fashion buyer by day, a passionate blog author by night and a dreamy bride-to-be in between. I thank my lucky stars to live in such a stunning city that gives me gifts like organic honey lavender ice cream, movie nights in the park, tucked away beaches, legendary record stores, '80s dance parties, awesome sports teams, stellar flea markets, and vintage bookshops. Oh, and I love to dance! We always find every excuse to escape to the beach, and decided a little seaside wedding in Hawaii is our idea of bliss. Full of our favorite people, music, food and sparkly lights, this is one sunset celebration we will always remember.

If there is one place Mr. Ostrich and I love more than anything, it’s the beach.
So when we finally decided to tie this little knot, we knew in our heart of hearts where this would all take place….
A wedding in paradise! Also known as a private beach on the North Shore of Oahu.
And for this intimate ceremony by the sea, I already had vivid dreams of what it would look like. Simple, sweet and very beach chic.
