Ms Cheetah's Picture
Ms. Cheetah, Los Angeles/Palm Springs Age and Occupation: 31, Artist, Educator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, TV Finance Engagement Date: April 2010 Wedding Date: March 2011 Venue: The Viceroy About Me: I’m a silly, sassy lady with a compulsion to create. I love to sing and dance, despite the fact that I lack any talent doing either. I somehow manage to be messy and organized at the same time. I like to spend my days road tripping, watching '80s movies, reading true crime books, buying things on sale, sending postcards, playing board games, dining at food trucks, snuggling, and drinking ginger ale. I have a weak spot for all things sweet, especially Mr. Cheetah! I’m a Chicago girl and he’s a Nor Cal boy but we love living in the City of Angels. After 10 years as a couple we are planning a fun-filled semi-destination wedding in Palm Springs. Hope you enjoy the ride!
About Ms Cheetah

Bridesmaid GF came to visit this week, and in addition to drinking extra-strong mojitos and watching three straight hours of Say Yes to the Dress, we also visited Bella Bridesmaid to check out the top bridesmaids dress contenders.

Due to the great styles, colors, fabric, and price point, it looks like the Cheetah Girls will be dressed in Priscilla of Boston dresses in crinkle chiffon. The very lovely Bridesmaid GF models some of the options below:

This dress shows the pewter color that we may go with:

The other color option, rose petal:

A couple of the other Cheetah Girls are with child, so GF made a “baby bump” to see if the style below would work for the preggos. Unfortunately, Priscilla of Boston does not have a designated maternity dress (every line should have at least one maternity option!), so making sure this dress would work over baby bellies was vital to being able to choose this line of dresses.

I love Bridesmaid GF’s shocked expression at seeing herself in the mirror with the fake baby bump. ;)

And here is the same dress, in yellow and sans faux baby bump:

This was Bridesmaid GF’s fave style (doesn’t she look awesome in it?):

And here is what it would look like shortened (our helpful consultant is holding it up in back):

I always pictured having short bridesmaids dresses for my ladies, but so many of these options look great long! Most of the long dresses would look great shortened, but that is an extra alteration to worry about. I’m still leaning toward the short dresses, but if each lady prefers a long style, we’ll just leave them long.

So hive, which do you prefer, short or long bridesmaids dresses?

And, just for fun and because I can’t resist, here are some ridiculously awesome bridesmaids dresses:

How much are the Priscilla of Boston dresses? I love the long ones, personally, but I think the short ones are more easily worn again.

Bridesmaid GF looks awesome in ALL of those dresses! I love the picture with the faux bump! Too funny!

I prefer short dresses, but some long dresses are really lovely too - especially those with light, airy draping like the ones you posted.

I had one pregnant ‘maid myself. And just a tip for yours–it seems easier to put a pregnant lady in a long, non-maternity dress that you’re planning on shortening. That way the extra fabric that the bump needs won’t shorten the front of a floor-length dress to an awkwardly slightly shortened length.

My girls went for the short dresses due to the season, and Texas heat.

We are trying on Priscilla of Boston dresses in two weeks, this makes me feel great about my choice to check them out. We are going with short because it’s an August wedding, I’d say for March, in LA… I’d go with the formality of the wedding. Formal= long, less formal= short.

I think if depends on the fabric! For a stiffer satin or taffeta, I prefer short but for that crinkle chiffon, I love it long, so floaty and goddess-esque! LOVE those dresses by the way, totally would have gone with them if it weren’t for the price tag!

I love long chiffon dresses–they’re so pretty! I’m wearing one this weekend and I can’t wait!

I’m doing style 1604 in Pewter for my bridesmaids (the first picture, one shoulder). I think it is so elegant, and will be the perfect dress for a summer wedding. I’m going to have them hem t hem to just above knee length, so they will be fun, flirty and coooool! :)

@Ms. Braille Bunny: All the dresses are Priscilla of Boston. We found them at a Bella Bridesmaid store, but other shops carry the line as well.
@TXlawyerbee: I love that style!
@cjm: Great tip!

I like short BM dresses just coz they dont look so formal, but all the options you show above are lovely. You cant go far wrong with chiffon in my mind!

I have always imagined my girls in tea/knee-length dresses, too… but the floor-length ones are just so gorgeous!

We went with short dresses because they seemed more comfy for a summer wedding, not because my sister/MOH wants to show off her legs.

Are either of those yellow dresses “dandelion”? The Ardmore PoB didn’t have more than a swatch of that yellow… which is what we ended up selecting in crinkle chiffon. (I cannot find a good representation of dandelion anywhere!)

@ktbrady: Our BM dresses were about $160 each with my bride’s discount.

@photographernico: I think the yellow was called “canary” but I’m not sure. All of their colors are great, so I’m sure your dresses will look beautiful!
