In my last post, I mentioned that my *favorite* part of our reception was dancing. Little known fact about me: in general, I’m a pretty shy gal. I don’t really like being the center of attention, and have a propensity for blushing when put in the limelight. But. BUT! I love to dance. Somewhat of a contradiction, I know, but it’s true. I have kept my booty on the dance floor all night at all of the weddings I have been to in recent memory, and at the last wedding Mr. FF and I attended, he practically had to drag me off of the dance floor.
Therefore, in the weeks preceding the wedding I told everyone with a pair of ears that if they wanted to find me after dinner at our reception, they should look for me on the dance floor.
We had picked really good music for our “must-play” list, and darnit…I wanted to celebrate! People asked, “But what if people want to talk to you?” My reply was “then they can talk to me while we dance together.”
Mr. FF and I started things off with our first dance as a married couple. We thought long and hard and spent several nights discussing what our first dance song should be. We almost did a fun, fast dance to Hall & Oates “You Make My Dreams Come True,” but the volume and weight of my dress wasn’t conducive to it. We finally settled on the song “To Make You Feel My Love,” which has been covered by several artists. We chose the Kris Allen version, not because we’re die-hard American Idol fans, but because the Adele version of the song made me kind of sad…and the Kris Allen version is quite sweet.
So, in the arms of my new husband…we danced.

And we talked and canoodled and did the middle-school sway around the dance floor. It was perfect.

We ended with a kiss and a dip, and called our first dance a success!

Next, I danced with my dad and Mr. FF danced with his mom to “Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong. Ever since I was little I have loved this song, so it was a natural “parent dance” choice. We opted to dance with our parents at the same time, and I think it worked out really well.

Finally, we opened the dance floor to everyone. We started off with some slow songs and some “wedding classics”…

But soon, the dance floor was jam packed. Merriment, hysterical laughter, and awesomely bad dance moves ensued. It. Was. Awesome.

As promised, I kept my gigantically gowned self on the floor all night. My dress got stepped on, ripped, dirtied, and had drinks spilled on it, and I didn’t care. By the end of the night it felt like it weighed 80 pounds and I was tripping over the unraveling hem….but I wouldn’t change it for anything. To say that I had an amazing time would be a complete understatement. I think my perma-grin in all of these pictures says it all.

Up next, while some danced…others got silly in our photobooth!
Miss a Chapter?
First, we drove all of our stuff to our venue.
Then, I freaked about the weather forecast.
Next, we rehearsed.
We had a yummy rehearsal dinner!
The girls got glam.
We both got dressed and ready to rock and roll.
Mr. FF watched me walk down the aisle.
We got married!!!
We beat the storm for our bridal party pictures.
We grabbed umbrellas and got lovey-dovey.
I kept it real.
We got a peek at our reception, and made our entrance Miyagi-style.
We ate cake!
We toasted, and hugging was involved.
We caught dinner and a show.
