Mrs. Sand Dollar, Houston Age and Occupation: 24, Graphic Designer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 22, Electrical Technician Engagement Date: January 8, 2010 Wedding Date: September 2010 Venue: MacLean Park About Me: I'm a domestic diva down to the core. I heart cooking, sewing, baking, decorating and making sure we have a hand-crafted home. The best part about the wedding is I get to incorporate it all! I make sure I put my art degree to good use by screen printing, craft knife cutting, and a whole lotta graphic design. We're having a big-time party on a small-time budget, and I promise to show you a boot-scootin', barbecue-eatin', finger-lickin' good time! Mr. Sand Dollar and I spend most of our time on DIY projects or traipsing around the outdoors with our two pooches Rory and Juno. I'm looking forward to sharing our journey with all of you!
About Mrs. Sand Dollar

I mentioned before that we would be DIYing our wedding video. Bridesmaid Stacie’s sweet husband Kurt was awesome enough to volunteer to be our videographer. We had a tripod, an HD camera my mom gifted me (for her baby Sand Dollars she is convinced will be along ASAP) and a Macbook to get it done. I used iMovieHD to edit everything, and burned a super cute DVD using iDVD. Seriously, it’s awesome! We have chapters and music and menus, and it’s mega cool!

I was a little worried that it would turn out to be super cheesy, but it really is pretty cute! Yes, it looks like a home video. No, it doesn’t make it any less awesome in my eyes.

My mom was right when she said I’d want to see those little moments again. I love that I literally bounced up and down to dance with my friend Christian during the dollar dance. I love hearing our ceremony, watching us cut cake, the whole shebang. I edited a “full-length” video that’s 30 minutes long, and includes the entire aisle walking, ceremony, dances and tosses. For some reason we didn’t get any of us driving away, but that’s OK. Here I’m going to share my 7 minute highlight video, so you can see just how country-chic we cowboys kick it down here. Enjoy!

You did a great job! Video editing is so hard cause you hate to cut out anything. :D

So jealous! I was going to do something similar, but my Dad forgot to turn on the camera for the ceremony. Now it’s all in my head, which I do love, and I can edit out the bad parts from my memory.

awesome! :) I love how frightened all the girls were by the bouqet. I’ve seen that happen at some many weddings with the guys and girls.

Sad it’s grainy! :( It’s the best I could export from iMovie. Promise in real life it’s clear and awesome!

I LOVE THIS! and I love that it’s home-made. It makes it more ‘real’ somehow. Just pure, and full of love!

that was the sweetest video! I love the home movie style - it makes me way more confident that my fiance’s crazy idea of doing our own video will actually turn out.

I love it and I want one just like it. :) I didn’t hire a professional videographer - partly because of the expense, but mostly because I don’t like the idea of a guy with a big camera shadowing me all night - but I totally want someone to capture these moments. And I agree that it’s so much more real and natural this way! Nice job.

love it. I’m hoping to do something like this as well but with a mix of video and stills.

SO beautiful! A friend of ours took video during the ceremony, but missed the part when we all walked up the aisle…I think my brother got it though, but I am still waiting to see the video.

Oh my goodness, I love your wedding! And I’m also totally inspired by this video - can’t afford a videographer and was hoping to do a mash-up with my HD cam and some iPhone footage. You’ve totally assuaged my fears about missing out!

It turned out so cute Mrs. SD!!! I just love it. You two are adorable when you’re exchanging your vows and it looked like so much fun out there on the dance floor.
