Today’s review comes from Ms. Library of her baker, Nothing Bakes like a Parrott in Maine!

Jessica of Nothing Bakes Like a Parrott was fun, easy to work with, and a fantastic baker. She was the first baker we decided to try during our wedding planning process, and she set the bar very high. For the tasting, we met at her apartment in Portland.

I had requested three types of cake that we really were interested in, but she ended up providing five or six! She also had out six different types of filling for us to try. Each cake was in a cupcake form so that we weren’t stuck with one type of filling/frosting on only one flavor. I have never eaten so many cupcakes in my life!I sent Jessica a sketch of what I would like our cake to look like, along with a magazine inspiration photo. She did a wonderful job taking what we had in mind and making it into real life!

She was also great for our groom’s cake. Mr. Library loves A1 Steak Sauce, so I asked Jessica to make a secret groom’s cake for him that looked like a bottle of A1! It was quite a hit at the wedding.

She also made us birthday cupcakes for our guests who were celebrating birthdays around the time of our wedding. While getting in touch with her was a little difficult in the middle due to a botched email account, she was reliable and responsive when everything started working again. We ordered four different flavors of cake from her (three for our wedding cake and one for the groom’s cake), and they all were amazing! We had red velvet cake with raspberry and buttercream frosting, strawberry cake with lemon buttercream, lemon cake with raspberry filling, and chocolate cake with German chocolate filling. Everyone loved the flavors, and Mr. Library and I even at our saved slices for breakfast the next morning!

We were very impressed with Jessica’s prices and her availability for delivery. Even though our venue was at least an hour away, she was willing to deliver our cake to the reception for a reasonable fee. Our cake was definitely within our budget, even with the delivery fee. We were very happy to have worked with Jessica!

Congratulations for finding such a reliable baker! All your cakes look delicious. I am a big fan of cakes. So I guess your guests all had a great blast with the taste huh?

Our guests loved our cakes! It was great being able to just let everyone decide what flavors they wanted. At first, my MIL told us we “couldn’t” choose so many flavors because people would be upset if they didn’t get what they wanted, but I ignored it. No one was upset and we had plenty of cake to go around!
