Mrs. Labrador's Picture
Mrs. Labrador Retriever, Athens/Savannah Age and Occupation: 24, Student/Sports Reporter Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Physical Therapy Assistant Student/Future Dr. of PT Engagement Date: December 31, 2008 Wedding Date: November 2009 Venue: Whitfield Square/Savannah Station About Me: I'm working on my second degree from UGA (Go Dawgs!). I'm a self-proclaimed attention-w****. If it involves a camera, I'm in front of it! You'll never meet a girlier tomboy than me. I can go toe to toe with any guy on the subject of college football, and lift more than any girl in my gym, all without chipping a nail. I hope to someday be the only person you want delivering your sports news. My FI and I are the loving parents of three Labrador Retrievers (one of each color) and are planning a "Southern Romantic Charm" wedding in the beautiful, historic city of Savannah. I'm not extreme in anything except moderation... and wedding planning.
About Mrs. Labrador

They may not be celebrities, but to us they’re stars. So, we made sure to set aside some time to dance with the two ladies that mean the world to us: our moms!

I lost my dad when I was a kid but still wanted to have that special dance at my wedding. So, my mom filled in and we took the dance floor first.

We originally planned to dance to “Brown Eyed Girl” but made the decision less than a month out to switch to “Somebody’s Hero”.

Needless to say, I had to pull some major “try not to cry” faces to avoid the “ugly cry” face.

I failed.

Mom and I both realized we were in a losing battle on the cry front, so we struck up a conversation instead.

“OMG. No she DIDN’T!”

Still not convinced that we avoided the messy makeup cry, we invited some of my nieces onto the dance floor to finish up the song.

We made it through the song mascara-run-free. Then it was Mr. Lab’s and his mom’s turn.

Mr. Lab’s sister watches on in the background.

Their dance was a little more drama-free. But it was so sweet to see them on the dance floor together. I know MIL Lab was just thinking about her baby boy being all grown up the whole time.

What special dances (other than the first dance) will you have at your wedding?

You look GORGEOUS (still can’t get over that dress), and that’s so not an ugly cry face. Very sweet dance–you and your mom.

This makes me wish I had done a mother daughter dance with my mom! I didn’t want to draw attention to the fact the my dad wasn’t there though so we decided not to and now looking at your pictures really makes me wish we had.

Aww I love the “try not to cry” faces. I know if I tried this with my mom I would bawl like a baby so we are going to dance to fast songs. :D

This post definitely solidifies my decision to have a mother-daughter dance. My parents separated when I was 16 and I was always a Momma’s Girl. I lost my dad and my grandfather (who I was insanely close with) 2 years ago and was on the fence about not having any kind of dance. I love all your pictures, you both look so beautiful!

Did your DJ have the Aaron Lines song, or did you bring it? We’ve been told to bring our songs on an iPod as back-up and can’t find it anywhere!

Ladies, even if you don’t have a dedicated spotlight dance with your mom, still pick a song that will be “yours” to dance to during the reception. You won’t regret it! ;)

@mareundarum: My DJ actually pulled it up the day of the wedding. We had wi-fi access so he could literally download any song on the fly if requested (I gave him my list before the wedding but I’d have a back-up if I were you). Is it not on iTunes?

Hello! I know this is kind of off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this site? I’m getting tired of Wordpress because I’ve had issues with hackers and I’m looking at alternatives for another platform. I would be fantastic if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
