Mrs. Panther, Atlanta GA/Westport CT Age and Occupation: 24, Web Writer Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Music Recording Engineer Engagement Date: March 13, 2010 Wedding Date: July 2011 Venue: The Inn at Longshore About Me: I'm a total goofball who goes through life at a breakneck pace, trying not to knock anything over. I tend to fall in love with everything I encounter, but more than anything, I love my two little kitties, Bela and Josie, and my big kitty, Mr. Panther! As a wannabe crafter, I'm still waiting for my artistic talents to emerge. (Any day now, really.) In the meantime, I spend my days eating anything put in front of me, buying every pair of shoes I see and absorbing wedding inspiration from every inch of my surroundings. Mr. Panther and I are hardcore New Englanders planning Connecticut nuptials from our new home in the Dirty South, and can't wait to mix our newfound love of classic Southern charm with some modern city touches.
About Mrs. Panther

Muchas Gracias

November 3rd, 2010 @ 9:08 am by Mrs. Panther

Our custom “thank you” stamp from JLMould on Etsy finally came today, so I made some thank you cards for engagement gifts. Woohoo! Actual wedding stationery, sort of!

This thank you card was a long time coming. I’m not going to lie to you guys—I basically totally copied Mrs. Ladybug’s cards. Thanks for the inspiration, Mrs. Ladybug! Please don’t kill me!

Anywho, I got the same peony stamps that she used from Stampworx2000 and ordered a stamp that says “thank you” in Feel Script, my current font obsession. I also used Envelopperinc.com A2 notecards, lavender card stock from cards & pockets, antique gold envelopes from envelopemall.com, and my favorite Cuttlebug embossing folder, in case anyone cares.

I’m really excited about how well the custom stamp came out!

How cool is that?! It’s clear, so you can see where you’re stamping. Only $16.95 plus shipping, dude!

I also bought a pretty vector pattern on iStockphoto and designed my own wraparound labels.

I realize this is not the correct address for Mickey and Minnie. It’s FPO.

I’m thinking about printing them onto metallic text-weight paper and running ‘em through a Xyron 250 Create-a-Sticker machine. What’s that you say? It’d be a waste of money to get extra equipment and materials just so my address labels can be metallic? Because nobody cares? Well, you may be right. BUT IT’S TOO MUCH FUN TO STOP.

What have you guys done to personalize your thank you cards? Did you use the same thank you cards for your engagement gifts, shower gifts, and wedding gifts?

Do you have to put the Thank stamp on a wooden block to use it?

Thanks, guys!!
@kayakgirl73: Nope, you use a clear acrylic block for these. JLMould includes one with each stamp (though you can get a price break if you don’t need one), but you can buy them at any craft store. They can be re-used for different clear polymer stamps, too!

What a cute stamp! And I love that you purchase backgrounds on istock. It’s such a great resource

If we had more in our budget I would definitely nab your idea for these ‘thank you’ cards. They are so sweet and personalized. I LOVE them!

@Mrs. Sand Dollar: I’m always proud of myself when I actually pay for things off the internet. ;-)
@Whimsical.Sprite: It can actually be really cheap to make your own thank you cards! You don’t have to use metallic envelopes or a second layer of paper — check out the Ladybug ones that I linked to. She used white envelopes and white notecards, and they look just as awesome! The most expensive part, for me, was those damn peony stamps, but I couldn’t resist.

@Whimsical.Sprite: Oh, and there are tons of “thank you” stamps at craft stores for much cheaper, too. :)

What brand of ink did you use? Was it quick drying? also how did you ink up that big peony stamp? Did you use a foam brush?

I stamp a heck of a lot, but when I use big stamps they the ink doesnt stamp evenly. I spent $25 on a custom stamp for my invitation suite and ended up not using it because it look junky…

Can you shed the light on how you get your big peonies to look so gorgeous?

@Miss Giraffe: Awwww, DITTO!!! :)
@misschristinec@hotmail.com: I used the Color Box pigment ink for the blue, and I think a StazOn permanent inkpad for the purple. The Color Box ink does NOT dry fast — it’s much, um, wetter. But the StazOn is pretty fast-drying. What I did to get the ink on was lay the stamp face-up on the table and kind of blot the ink pad all over it. I thought it was a little easier than the other way around. I just blotted over and over until it was really covered. Here’s the thing, though — the StampWorx stamps are really good quality. Like I said in another post, they’re pretty pricey (the big one was $35 and the medium one was $25), but I think they’re much better quality and that’s why they worked so well. I’ve had a LOT more trouble with clear polymer stamps and even lower-quality rubber ones.
