It's Really Happening : wedding emotional providence Images

I find myself saying this phrase with increasing vigor nowadays. Every day monumental (to me, at least) milestones continue to occur. I find myself giddy as a school girl as each one arrives and passes. It is almost like receiving a little gift each day.

Stalking the registry and seeing gifts actually purchased…

“It’s really happening”

Sending out our first payment to a vendor…

“It’s really happening”

Receiving our first gift (fiesta plates!) in the mail…

“It’s really happening”

Meeting our priest and at the end he said, “that’s it, see you at the rehearsal.”

“BWAH! We’re really getting married? It’s really happening!”

…and today, our wedding bands are ready to be picked up…

“Holy crap holy crap holy crap, it’s really, really happening.”

It was easy to overlook that the wedding would actually materialize when I planned most of it so far in advance. Long gone are the days of “that can wait” or “maybe a little later” or “it’s too early for that yet.” We’re 5 months out. Everything is being set in motion with parents, bridesmaids, and groomsmen. I’m starting to plan my months by month to-dos. December is invitation month. Thank goodness October and November were/are Christmas shopping months. I’m not going to tell you what January is because frankly I’m a little embarrassed that I haven’t done it yet. I’m such a slacker. After the holidays, time is going to speed up. I will blink and the wedding will be here. It’s all really happening.

When did you start to realize that your wedding is really happening?

I haven’t had a “it’s really happening” moment yet! I can’t wait until I do.

When we finally hit one year until the wedding (after being engaged for 1.5), it was like “holy crap”! I mean, it’s totally happening!

I’m so with you on this one, Miss Z!

I had my “aha!” (combined with slight panic) moment about three months out from the date. Today marks ONE MONTH to the day, and I just know the next four weeks are going to fly by!!

I loved all those little moments leading up to the wedding! Nothing is crazier though than when you walk down the aisle. That’s when it really hit me.

this is happening to me more and more! i think fi might be getting tired of hearing me say “wow, this is *really* happening!” i think some of the ones that hit home for me was after pre-cana and dropping our envelopes off at his aunt’s house for calligraphy.
