Hiding In Plain Sight

November 5th, 2010 @ 11:38 am by Mrs. Elephant

I get so excited when I head to the mailbox and see a package! I shouldn’t be that surprised because I have been ordering things left and right for this wedding, but it’s so exciting to see something other than bills and junk mail.

The latest package came all the way from Hong Kong!

What could be inside, you ask?

Yay, black light pens! I picked up on this little RSVP trick from Mrs. Green Tea’s post, who I believe learned about it from bees before her. Gotta love the tips from the ‘Bee!

There is a very high probability with our guest list that someone will return an RSVP that we cannot read, or even worse, with no name at all. To nip this problem in the bud before it happens I ordered a couple of black light pens to discreetly number our RSVP postcards. The numbers will match up with our guest list Excel spreadsheet so if there are any un-readable RSVPs we’ll be able to figure out who it is.

Who could it be?

Oh! It’s guest #24

Are there any other super spy brides out there using a black light pen for their RSVPs?

Love it! I cheated and simply wrote peoples names on the reply envelope and then immediately when one arrived put it into our online guest tracking spread sheet.

This is a FANTASTIC idea - I’m totally stealing this! I’ve received invites with numbers on the RSVPs before, and while I didn’t think it was a big deal that they were handwritten on, I love the idea of the same function without ruining the pretty design of our response cards!

I’m so glad you posted this! I am definitely going to, but I had forgotten about them! I might go ahead and order the pens so I don’t forget again!

I love the black light idea! We just wrote the corresponding number in the back with a pencil. Pretty low tech, but it works!

We bought our black light pens at office max for about 10$ - they have them with the pens that indicated for counterfeit money

i did something similar to this, except i used a normal pen and wrote very small on the back of the card their corresponding number :) black light pens are pretty cool though

Wow - that is so clever! We were so fortunate that everyone wrote their name on the RSVP cards. But it did cross my mine after we sent them out that we didn’t number them!

I love this. Did you get them from eBay? Because I’m wondering why they come from Hong Kong? I thought one could get them from Michaels’? It’s a very good idea. I’d pencilled it down before based on all the stuff I’d been reading by all the other bees :)

I loved this idea too, but was too cheap and lazy to order a special pen..I just wrote it in pen on the inside of the rsvp envelope…it did come in handy too! We had to do a search for a few blank ones.

I wanted to use these too, but I was to cheap/lazy to order them. I just wrote the number in pencil on the RSVP stamp.

I did this for my RSVP’s and of course, not one person forgot to fill out all the info, but I am glad I did it just in case!

Love this! I was totally planning on doing this too, but just wound up with a regular old pencil on the back corner. Oh well. GREAT idea!

@bRooklynRocks: I actually used the link that Mrs. Green Tea used… only $1.30 (and that included the shipping)
