What a Birdbrain

November 6th, 2010 @ 1:20 pm by Mrs. Panther

I bit the bullet and ordered an Ann Wood cake topper. Lord help me. I don’t even want to think about how much it cost and how stupid I am for buying it. BUT I LOVE IT.

What a Birdbrain : wedding cake decor westport Panther panther!

(Source)

I asked Ann Wood to make the groom’s boutonniere purple and the bride’s little satin ribbon turquoise. Technically, it’s not even a cake topper yet because I didn’t shell out another $100 for a base. Odette and Royal are just two little birdies that are going to hang out on the cake that I’m not even sure I want. (Don’t even get me started on the wedding-cupcakes debacle.) Don’t worry—cake or no cake (let’s be honest—there will be a cake), our sweethearts will be prominently featured somehow. LOOK AT ODETTE’S TRAIN!

Have you made any wedding impulse buys?

These might be the cutest birds I’ve seen yet! They’re elegant but fun.

They are so awesome! I love Royal’s hat! And Odette’s train? I die.

And can I just say that I’m loving your posts, Miss Panther? Maybe it’s partly because we finally have a summer 2011 bee (!!!), which means my wedding is fast approaching (!!!), or because I can totally relate to these impulse buys and the fact that I can’t commit to cake or cupcakes or both (actually, the fiance seems to be the only thing I can commit too!) . . . in any case, kudos on the birds! Go celebrate with some carbs or something. :)

(OMG AND ARE THEIR LEGS AND BEAKS METALLIC TOO?!?! LOVE!)

ha don’t feel bad for making a splurge impulse buy, you’ll have these forever! i loved her cake toppers too, but went with the fat little clay birds from Red Light Studio on Etsy, the ones you see EVERYWHERE. I fell in love with them instantly and knew they’d be my cake topper. She even made us a little dog too since our dog is like our kid. I made about a million impulse buys when planning our wedding, about half of which actually got used lol!

I’m already married, and I have to admit that I’m trying to come up with a reason to rationalize purchasing them myself. I agree that they’re fun and elegant, so worth it!

I think impulse buys can be excused if it’s something that will endure as a wedding memory… like those birds can be displayed on a bookshelf or something

Oh wow those are too cute!! I’m actually thinking of buying a second cake topper to go with the groom’s cake so don’t feel bad about the splurge :)

@froggy518: I die for Royal’s sparkly tophat, too!! Soooooo my favorite part. And the sparkly legs!!! :) And don’t worry, I celebrated with lots of carbs. I always do!
@Kemi82JP: I love those! How adorable that you have a dog on yours! We’re definitely considering adding some cats, but would it be weird if the cats were the birds’ pets? Since like, cats eat birds? Eh, whatever!
@Miss Earrings, @Ring Finger Studio: BUY THEM, BUY THEM! I’m an enabler. ;-)
@JuneBride_26June2010: Oh. My. God. That is AMAZING!
@Miss Elephant: Yayyy, I can’t wait to see your groom cake topper!

LOVE! Mrs Gummi Bear lent me her Ann Wood birdies for our wedding the base is super cool b/c Ann makes the birdies magnetically stick to the base - genius!
I love the birdies I ordered from Etsy, but they only stuck on with that gummi stuff you use to hang posters in college. The magnets are awesome! You know if you decided to get the base ;-) Either way your birdies are soooo cute and that train is amazing!

@Mrs. French Bulldog: I LOVED your post with all your birdy details! I didn’t know that the Ann Wood base had a MAGNET. That’s so cool! Damnit, that kind of makes me want it … because I can soooo afford to spend more money on cake topper items. ;-)
