Mrs. Labrador Retriever, Athens/Savannah Age and Occupation: 24, Student/Sports Reporter Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, Physical Therapy Assistant Student/Future Dr. of PT Engagement Date: December 31, 2008 Wedding Date: November 2009 Venue: Whitfield Square/Savannah Station About Me: I'm working on my second degree from UGA (Go Dawgs!). I'm a self-proclaimed attention-w****. If it involves a camera, I'm in front of it! You'll never meet a girlier tomboy than me. I can go toe to toe with any guy on the subject of college football, and lift more than any girl in my gym, all without chipping a nail. I hope to someday be the only person you want delivering your sports news. My FI and I are the loving parents of three Labrador Retrievers (one of each color) and are planning a "Southern Romantic Charm" wedding in the beautiful, historic city of Savannah. I'm not extreme in anything except moderation... and wedding planning.
About Mrs. Labrador

Our wedding was just a week after Halloween (my favorite celebration of the entire year) and in a city known for its ghoulish residents. So in addition to the ghost tour after the rehearsal dinner, I thought it would be fun to do the official “Thriller” dance at the reception!

So, I put the word out to our guests well before the wedding to learn the dance if they wanted to participate. And as we lined up at the reception, I was actually surprised that we got so many takers!

Quickly going over the dance one last time.

I didn’t practice as much as I should have, but I think I did all right. But a couple of my college buddies TORE UP the dance floor and could have put Michael Jackson himself to shame!

Mr. Lab decided he didn’t know the dance well enough and bailed halfway through! LOL

Kevin, Kelly, and Ian doing their thing!

Bucket List:

  • Win the lottery.
  • Touch myself inappropriately at my own wedding.
  • Fly to the moon.

Ian and Kevin were really into the dance. They knew every move and I kept cheating off of them to keep up! I can’t wait to see this part of our wedding video. I’m gonna DIE laughing!

After “Thriller”, the rest of our guests joined us for some “regular” dancing.

We had a little of everything. Classic rock, hip hop, pop, and of course, “Cupid’s Shuffle”, which is fast-becoming a wedding classic.

I never knew until looking through the photos the serious moves some of our guests pulled of the bag. I’m guessing the full bar lead to some liquid courage.

I slipped out of the reception for a few minutes to change into something a little more comfortable. (And I finally fixed my hair flower!)

Our DJ played a couple slower songs for the guests with significant others.

At this point, our photographer stole us away to do a special project outside (which you’ll see soon!). It was fun, but it took us way longer than I expected and we ended up missing a lot of the dancing. If you know me at all, you know I’m a dancer. Like, not only was I in a hip hop-focused dance company, but I also love to dance any time there’s music. I expected our wedding to be a huge dance party, but I missed most of it! :(

Is a dance-reception important to you? Or will you take after someone like Mrs. Turtle and nix the dancing?

ha! I’m so impressed that they know the dance. I would have no clue how to do this dance! MJ was a little before my time, I was never a die-hard fan, but it looked like so much fun!

p.s. and to answer the end question of your post, YES dancing was extremely important to us! we had the best dance party ever, and i even told our videographer “no” when he wanted us to come outside again to take video with the fireworks that were going on for a festival nearby. yes that would have been cool but i was DONE posing, there was no way i was leaving that dance floor lol. but i told him he should still get footage of the fireworks, even if we weren’t in it, so i hope he did.

I love dancing, and I’m sure I’ll be shakin my booty all night long during our wedding. The FI isn’t much of a dancer, but I’ll drag him along for the ride. I’m not GREAT at dancing, but I dance anyway. Yay!

I just went to a wedding this past Halloween weekend and we tried to do Thriller, it was a hilarious fail. I also hope that my wedding will be one giant dance your pants off kind of party, *fingers crossed*

Hysterical! Mr. 5642 and I are also incorporating original Thriller moves into our first dance! We’re doing a mash-up of Thriller and Now That We Found Love from Hitch :)

@peachplum09 & @jgoulart: Our Thriller dance was mostly a fail. The photos make us look WAY better than we were. That’s why I know we’ll be dying when we watch the video!

@Kemi82JP: I wish I had given more directions to our photographer. I had bride brain and just went along with everything no matter how I was feeling on the inside. I figured, they’ve been to tons of weddings and know what they’re doing, right? I should have said, this is taking too long and I want to dance!
