I thank my lucky stars to live in such a stunning city that gives me gifts like organic honey lavender ice cream, movie nights in the park, tucked away beaches, legendary record stores, '80s dance parties, awesome sports teams, stellar flea markets, and vintage bookshops. Oh, and I love to dance! We always find every excuse to escape to the beach, and decided a little seaside wedding in Hawaii is our idea of bliss. Full of our favorite people, music, food and sparkly lights, this is one sunset celebration we will always remember.

With planning in full gear and the wedding less than 6 months away, it’s pretty easy to glance at those checklists and calendars and contracts and craft supplies, get frazzled and have those moments.

So, what’s a bride to do?

Over the past few months, I’ve pieced together a little anti-stress recipe that gets me through these moments of madness. Simple but so helpful, I’ve found myself to be leaning on it a lot more as the wedding rapidly approaches.

So here it is, bees - I hope these bits can be helpful for my fellow brides who just need a little help now and then. :)

Miss Ostrich’s Wedding Anti-Stress Recipe

1. Stop

Put down that wedding list. Shut down your computer. Put your phone on silent, and light that candle of your.  :)

2. Look

…at that day when you and your love were so ridiculously happy. Do you remember that feeling? Good! That’s what your wedding is all about.

…at your favorite inspirational photo. Soak it in. And clear out all that crazy wedding clutter in your head.

3. Let Go

Play that feel good song…

and enjoy the little things that make you happy:

a bubble bath

your favorite chick flick

a stroll along the shore

or a much needed nap.

Whatever it is, do it, savor it and fill yourself back up with the things that matter. :)

{makes 60 minutes of rest and rejuvenation}

Now it’s your turn, bees: how do you diffuse that pesky wedding anxiety? The more tips, the better! :)

your de-stressing is a lot more sophisticated than mine. (mine being: jammie pants, stuffing my face with pizza, and watching big bang theory on DVD) haha :)

After reading your de-stress list I think we must be soul-sisters. Not to mention I am OBSESSED with Henri Bendel Fig! (I hoarded the lotions/shower gels back when Bath and Body works discontinued them).

I just read your post and started to cry! It was exactly what I needed to hear tonight. I’m working full time, in my second class of my masters program and playing a wedding for 350 people solely on my own. I feel like the to do list in my life is never ending. I’m a type A personality so its really hard to sit back and let go. But your post gave me a little permission to do so and it validated my feelings, which no one is doing these days. THANK YOU!

Music always helps me feel better…personally, I’m a Norah Jones kind of girl. Her sultry, soulful voice always soothes whatever’s ailing me.

This is what everyone needs to do on a regular basic. Thank you for reminding us all.
Breathe. ahhhhh.

Your ideas are great, but we planned out wedding in 4.5 months, so I drank beer and crafted and crafted and crafted because the only thing that calmed me was checking stuff off the giant “to do list.” When I came here and realized most brides have a year or more to plan, I kind of freaked out. It all came together though and now I’m almost all the way stress free.

little coldplay in the background, some hot chocolate, and naps when it’s necessary. That’s the G-rated version. Rated R? Wedding stress?, nothing a little romp in the sheets with FI can’t solve :)

When life gets busy, I have a rule that has saved my sanity.

“Don’t rush on Sundays”

I can have a to do list, I can make plans, but if I get going later than anticipated or something takes longer than I thought it would, I cancel plans, don’t end up baking, sleep in an extra half hour… It’s liberating, just feeling life without rushing.

Obviously, any day of the week would work, but Sunday is most pragmatic for my lifestyle.

I love this post. I’m more of a wine girl, but my “reduce stress” routine is very similar :)

i had my first “bridal meltdown” around the 6 month mark, but have been lucky to avoid having another one so far…but at just over 3 months, i feel that stress kicking up again! maybe i’ll try TWO glasses of wine :)
