Luckily, I'm a pretty persuasive girl because I managed to convince my high school boyfriend (now fiance!), Mr. Cardigan, to ditch his hardcore Longhorn ways and join me up at A&M, where we currently reside with our adorable dogs, Cullen & Ranger. We're currently planning a bright, cheery wedding with a ridiculous amount of DIY projects that I can't wait to tackle! I love crafting in any form, reading, and margaritas (I think I love them the most!). Organization is what keeps me sane and I love helping others, which is probably why I ended up as an education major. It gets a little chaotic sometimes when you're planning a wedding among all of the papers, projects, finals, and certification exams, but we're having the time of our lives and we can't wait to get started on our journey as husband and wife - and we're so excited to share our wedding with the hive!
About Mrs. Cardigan

Our Invitations Are Amazing.

November 11th, 2010 @ 8:43 am by Mrs. Cardigan

Now that you’ve seen the ones that could have been, it’s time to share our actual wedding invitations. I can’t even tell y’all how excited I am to be sharing, and now that we’ve officially received our first RSVP (which I totally freaked out over and hung on our fridge because I’m a dork like that) I feel confident that all of our guests have their invites and I can post them all over the internet. Yay!

So, without any further babbling, I’ll just get to the goods.

But! Before I do I just want to say one more time how amazing Steve, our invitation designer, is. I sent him ONE inspiration photo and a confusing description of the type of invitation we wanted, and he hit the nail on the head. He’s ridiculous, y’all, and if you’re looking for an invitation designer (or save the dates or, you know, ANYTHING) email him. He’s a miracle worker.

Okay, gushing over. Let’s drool over some invitations.

Our Invitations Are Amazing. : wedding austin invitations stationery 14 1

This is what our guests saw when they got their invitation  in the mail, except they saw a real name and address.

Duh. I used one of my favorite fonts from Fonts for Peas (Pea Missy Cursive, if anyone is curious) to print the addresses, and I’m in love with the way it turned out. I’ve already had one guests absolutely convinced that it was handwritten (thanks, Mr. Socks! I wish my handwriting was that awesome)! I briefly considered printing in a light gray and doing some faux-ligraphy, but I’m lazy and it probably wouldn’t have turned out looking nearly as nice as this.

So, when the guests flipped over their envelope and opened it (without tearing the envelope at all, of course) they saw this:

(It’s almost like a strip tease, isn’t it? The anticipation is killing me!)

Or they saw some variation of this. I was too cheap to go buy paper specifically for envelope liners (they were a last minute addition when I realized the envelopes weren’t as thick as I’d hoped) so I used some black and gray paper I had lying around. I used about 4 or 5 different patterns, some with stripes and some with polka dots.

And then, finally, the little package gets pulled out of the envelope. And it looks a little something like this:

Drool. Don’t you love the cute little tags Sister Cardy made for us? She’s basically the best.

And once the twine is undone, it’s finally time to see all the details.

Let’s start with the invitation, shall we?

The wording just makes me smile every time I read it. And, of course, there is a design on the back of the invite too:

Swoon! Next up is the RSVP card:

I love that it’s a folded card instead of just a flat one! And the inside:

And finally what is possibly my favorite part of the whole thing, the map:

Front and back together

Of course, we need a close-up:

I. Die.

Mr. Cardigan and I made sure to have Steve include one tiny detail for us hardcore Aggies. Can you see it? Here, let me show you:

Love, love, love.

And I can’t leave you without a good photo of the whole suite together:

Y’all, I think I’m in love.

I’m so, so incredibly glad that I chose to outsource this project instead of doing it myself as I had originally planned. These invitations turned out better than I could have ever possibly imagined, and they are so PERFECT for Mr. Cardigan and me.

And now that they’re sent out, the fun part begins: getting RSVPs back! I think the next few weeks of checking the mail are going to be way too much fun.

Did you outsource a project you originally planned to take on yourself? Were you happy you did?

I love love love the wording on the invite and rsvp card! I was originally going to do our invites, but recently outsourced to my good friend, who is an immensly talented graphic designer. She just sent us some mock-ups, and I’m in awe of them all!

Ha! So awesome. Also, best. map. EVER!

I love the capital, the cuteness of the bats, and, of course, as an Aggie getting married in the land of t-sips, you’ve included the Saw ‘em Off! I cannot express how impressed I am. Seriously. Your invitations are cute, but I think if I were a guest I would save and treasure that map for ever!

love them!!! the colors are amazing, and i love that you used the paragraph format and “ridiculous amounts of joy” idea that circulated the blogs for a while, i wanted to use that too but it would have meant a total redesign of my invites. these look amazing!!!! LOVE your RSVP card!!
