I love trashy reality television (Jersey Shore, anyone?), online shopping, Sunday brunch, Central Park, and random celebrity spottings on the streets of Manhattan. While I love NYC, I miss good Tex-Mex, my college friends, central A/C, and being in close proximity to a Target. I’m thrilled to finally be planning an event that’s not work-related and to be marrying my best friend in what I hope will be a unique and personal ceremony followed by a reception with plenty of good food, good drinks, and dancing (regardless if it’s good or not).

Ring Bowls To Love

November 11th, 2010 @ 3:33 pm by Mrs. Hippo

I mentioned here that we are planning to have a ring warming during our ceremony. I think that with the size of our guest list, we will need to split the rings up, passing each ring among half of the guests, instead of passing them together. So now I’m on a mission to find the perfect vessel (er…two perfect vessels) to use for the passing of the rings. Here are some of my faves from my online search:

If we were getting married in Hawaii or some other tropical island location, this would be perfect!

Every Etsy lover has seen this ceramic bowl from Paloma’s Nest. I love its simplicity.

I also found these custom ring bowls on Etsy. I like how bright and fun the designs are, but I wish there was a string or ribbon or something to hold the rings to the bowls.

I majorly adore this copper bowl, but it is definitely out of our price range, especially since we will need two of them.

And then….

Then.

I found this.

It’s a solid maple wood cube, decoupaged with scrapbook paper with the couple’s name and wedding date. I love this! I have never seen anything like it, and I have a major crush. Since I’m really into being matchy-matchy with our wedding colors and logo, I’m going to try to make something similar to this myself so that I can design it to go along with the rest of our wedding theme. I’m not exactly sure how I’m going to do this yet, but I just added this project to my DIY list.

Anyone else out there making their own ring bowl/pillow/cube?

I made our ringbearer pillow too! It was way last minute (as in the days before) because I had forgotten to make or buy one.

Yup! We made our own ceramic bowls. My husband made mine and wrote love in Chinese with our wedding date. I made his with Love in German and our wedding date. We made sure there was a loop for the rings and we’re going ot use them as christmas ornaments. We have a tradition of getting a new ornament every year. So this year it will be our ring bowls!

I really love that copper bowl. I’m now off to that shop to see what else they make. :)

The cube is very cute. I’ve never seen another ring holder like it before.

I’m either going to make something (no idea what yet) or cave and buy one of those Paloma’s Nest bowls.

the copper one is AMAZING! we had a ring warming too, and the timing was just right since we had only 40 guests (and 3 readings)
