Mrs. Pretzel's Picture
Mrs. Pretzel, Seattle Age and Occupation: 32 Learning, Training, and Development Specialist Fiance's Age and Occupation: 28 Manufacturing Engineer Engagement Date: September 2, 2009 Wedding Date: July 2010 Venue: Catholic Church & The Engine Room at Georgetown Studios About Me: I’m just a thirty-something girl who never dreamed of weddings, poofy dresses, or ritzy receptions. I am a rabid knitter, except recently, wedding projects have replaced my yarn and needles. I’ve been fiercely independent since the age of 2 and 30 years later I think my family and friends had given up on me settling down and getting married. Ironically, I had to go all the way to Seattle to find a boy from Purdue. We fell in love over Seattle Beers and cooking together. I love NASCAR, he loves Legos. I can talk like a Muppet and he can fit a whole McDonald’s cheeseburger in his mouth. We are a two reception couple, currently planning a brewery inspired bash.

Here We Go Again: Making the Invites

November 15th, 2010 @ 8:39 am by Mrs. Pretzel

We turned to Moo Cards to give us a jump-start on the invites for our hometown reception. I ordered four different styles of postcards and 200 mini-moos and left the back blank.

Armed with these cards I dusted off the Gocco. In just four evenings of work we completed our hometown invitation suite. For our hometown party we chose to use a fall tree and leaf theme.

Night one: I printed our invites with the tree.

Night two: Mr P set me up a station in front of the TV, I Goccoed the info over the tree while he played a little Super Mario Galaxy.

We set up our clothesline system to let the prints dry.

HOORAY!

Night three: While the envelope liners for our invites were cute, I just couldn’t bring myself to put all that effort into this second set of invitations. I got started on the envelope mail merge and suddenly had a moment of inspiration.

Gocco the tree on the envelope!

I love the “smile” that the clothesline creates!

I dressed up the envelopes while Mr P made a dent in the Thank You notes.

Night four: Time to pull it all together. Mr P used a teeny-tiny hole punch on the mini- moo cards while I cut lengths of orange and white bakers twine. And Cassanova Kitty? Well, he helped too.

He supervised the tying of the RSVP cards around the invites. Under Pretzel Kitty Cassanova’s strict supervision we got all 102 invites assembled and mailed out on time! Whew, I swear this is so much easier the second time around. Cutting corners by ordering the Moo cards was a lifesaver.

How have you shaved time off your wedding projects?

I love the 3rd and 4th moo cards (though they are all cute). Good job getting these done–I’m impressed you had any steam left after your first reception!

These look great! We sometimes have that same scenario in our house - I work on DIY projects, Mr. E playing some Super Mario in the background :)

I love the orange and white bakers twine. Did it come from Divine Twine?

Those are lovely! I really like the tree silhouette.

Also, what is up the fascination cats have with paper…

hardcore! very impressive second invite set, love it!
I like the third moo card the best, i think. probably because of your pretty blue ribbon crinoline peeking out from your dress!

@LemonPuppy: Yep that is Devine Twine!

@Minutiae: When I was teaching college classes I was embarrassed to have to tell some students that my cat “ate” their assignment. He would leave some teeth marks on corners. :)

@PitBulLover: no etsy shop no time! as soon as all the planning is over I’m going back to my knitting needles for some R&R ;)

I love your moo cards (the last one is so cute) but not nearly as much as I love your cat! He looks so pleased with himself in the last picture!

Amazing, Pretzel! Any tips on how you get such a good quality Gocco print? I’ve done some test projects in preparation for printing our invites and I can’t get an even, high-quality print to save my life! Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated. :-)
