About Mrs. Socks

When I started thinking about our wedding, I thought that honeymoons HAD to mean beaches, sun, and resorts. Once I began the planning though, we realized that we may not have had all of the funds we wanted in order to get to an exotic island like I pictured.

No matter…we got married in Autumn, my favorite time of year! We figured we might want to take advantage of the time of year and go where it was most beautiful at that time: the Northeastern United States! Combining my love for fall colors, the crisp, cool air, and wine, we settled quickly on The Finger Lakes region of New York, as well as Niagara in Canada. There were wineries galore, beautiful settings, and perfect weather for my favorite time of year!

Because our honeymoon consisted mostly of eating and drinking (LOTS of eating and drinking), my recaps will be fairly short, but I do want to touch on the main things we did for those of you who may be looking for a honeymoon or minimoon that’s cheaper than Napa, but is still a wonderful time!

With that, I’ll start my recaps off with our Honeymoon Video!

Mike and Mandy’s Honeymoon from Mandy Weger on Vimeo.

Yes, it’s fairly long, but I edited it together with some fun music! We used a Flip HD camera, my Nikon D60, and a little point and shoot camera we had to buy halfway through the trip because we forgot our battery charger for our Nikon.

I’ll break the whole honeymoon down for you next!

So cute! I’ve been trying to paste together the clips I took on our honeymoon with our flip camera but I don’t know where to start. What program did you use to create a “video” rather than just multiple short video files? I’m looking for something free and easy to use, preferably!

The sunrise glow on balloon trip made for some excellent lighting - you guys are glowing. And OMG, you went to Ravines!! (I spy a Lamoreaux bottle.) I agree with the other ladies: your view of Niagara Falls is “holy sh*t” incredible. Get chills watching the water going over the edge.

I really love what you’ve done. What music did you cut it to? I totally love the first song and am trying to figure out what it is….

@Nikki: It’s SUCH a pain, but in order to edit my videos with my flip, I have to import my videos into iphoto, and then import the video clips to imovie. I haven’t used the Flip video editing software, but when I took a brief look at it, it just didn’t seem to have the same features as imovie.
@Maggie Mae: The songs are as follows: Sweet Disposition by Temper Trap, Such Great Heights by the Postal Service, Lisztomania by Pheonix, and Love Like Semtex by Infadels.

Can’t beat the large number of wineries in Niagara !!! My Fiance and I were there the weekend of Oct 16th for some tours. I see you went to Peller Estates, our favorite, I love the Merlot and the fiance loves Baco Noir !!! I hope you picked up some 2007 wines (the best year for Ontario Wines) and tried the ice wine.
