What Will I Wear on My Head When I Wed?

November 15th, 2010 @ 3:52 pm by Ms. Sloth

Since I am incredibly indecisive, I had a really hard time deciding what kind of headpiece I’d wear. I know that I’m not interested in wearing a traditional veil, but other than that, I wasn’t really sure what I wanted.

Enter Etsy. I’ve said it before: I’m an addict. The only problem with Etsy is that you can’t try anything on before you buy. And so I had to make a few purchases before getting it right.

The first was this beautiful feather fascinator from seller fatalefemme:

Quirky. Stunning. Chic. Unfortunately, it just didn’t look right on my head. Maybe if I had a short, chic hairdo like the model, I could’ve rocked it, but for now, it was back to the drawing board.

Next, I bought a headband from seller FeathersandFrills.

I. Love. This. Headband. I love it so much that I put it on all the time and walk around my house with it. But I was impulsive and bought this headband before I bought my dress. Once I had my dress in hand, I realized that this headband just didn’t look right with it. Sob.

Finally, finally, I found what I was looking for. Another bride was selling a headpiece she’d bought from Etsy seller VelvetOwl. And she was selling it for a steal.

It’s fabulous. It looks good on, it works with my dress, and I adore it. I’m planning on buying some Russian netting and making a birdcage veil to go along with it, but you’ll have to wait until you see the final product.

What are you going to wear on your head for your wedding day?

So pretty! I’m hoping to convert a vintage brooch into something bridal, but otherwise, my hair may be pretty nekkid.

I LOOOOOVVVVEEEE your headband. That’s exactly along the lines of what I want to wear on my head. I know I don’t want a veil, and I want some headbandy/tiara type thing that is leafy/flowering. I’ve loose flowers scattered all over my dress, so it would fit right in. That is just gorgeous. Mmm. Love. Lovelove.

I love your taste! All are beautiful. I made a birdcage veil and was beyond excited until my fiance told me it looked like a lunch lady hairnet. . .

love the last one! i regret not being bolder and getting a “big arse hair flower” ala Mrs Perfume. My flowers looks so small now in pictures!

I got my birdcage veil from Velvet Owl! She’s great. You’ll surely find something on Etsy, that’s a treasure trove of fascinator-type thingies.

Gorgeous! I went headpiece-less…cause I’m cool like that. :)

[...] My dress came from Kohl’s (new, especially for the shower, and on sale!), and the adorable and perfectly matching headband came from the amazing Mrs. Sloth. It was so very nice of her to send it my way and I appreciated it [...]
