Mrs. Knitting's Picture
Mrs. Knitting, Toronto Age and Occupation: 24, Student Recruitment Assistant Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Neuroscience PhD Candidate Engagement Date: October 2009 Wedding Date: December 2010 Venue: University of Toronto Faculty Club About Me: I'm a pearl wearing, etiquette book reading Toronto girl who loves cooking and baking, museums, charm bracelets, and collecting books on Jackie Kennedy (a lot). I've been known to spend Sunday mornings at the antique market, Wednesday evenings at sister sushi dinners, and any bit of spare time reading. After six and a half years of many late night walks, watching DVDs together in bed, travelling to places like New York, and Tobermory, doing Sudokus together on the couch, lots of Indian food, the occasional yoga class, moving in together and so much more, Mr. Knitting and I are planning a cozy Christmasy (it's a word!), vintage wedding in Toronto complete with many DIY projects (eek!) and lots of help from our amazing group of family and friends.

Look What Came for Me!

November 16th, 2010 @ 4:58 pm by Mrs. Knitting

I’ve been sick with the flu for the last week, which has sucked a lot. I’ve been pretty much incapable of doing anything including work, wedding stuff, applying for grad school, or finding a new job. It hasn’t been the best week. Luckily I was hugely cheered up when I opened my mail box yesterday and found and envelope from my sister/MOH. I opened it up and found this:

I think maytryoshkas have just officially become one of the visual motifs of our wedding. I may have squealed when I got this, which is embarrassing since I live in a condo building and my mailbox is not so private.

Opening it up I found this:

I love the picture of the salsa dancing! For my bachelorette we’re having drinks and snacks at BM Rachel’s house and then going out salsa dancing. I’m actually really shy about things like going to clubs, but with a group of my favourite ladies there I suspect I’ll be well taken care of! I’m so excited.

I knew my MOH and bridesmaids were planning this, but it feels so nice to know that I have people in my life who care enough to plan me an event like this. The only thing that could make it more perfect would be a tight belly baring “Bride With No Pride” t-shirt (KIDDING, or am I?).

What was your bachelorette like?

Awesome invitation! I am from Toronto too! I had matryoshka dolls as my favours, and I went to El Rancho (right across the street from Plaza Flamingo) for my bachelorette. Crazy, eh? ;)

[Side note... I have been to both and I found that El Rancho is smaller but has more salsa pros and they play salsa/merengue/etc. all night long. Whereas Plaza Flamingo plays salsa for a bit but then changes their tune to more modern music. If you like that, then it will be fine! But if you start to dislike the music, don't be afraid to walk across the street!]

That invite is the cutest thing ever and has totally made me hungry for chips and salsa. I will have to get some for lunch.

totally cute! Lula Lounge in Toronto is a dinner and dancing (salsa) place too. Such a fun idea especially with all girls. You can all laugh together and don’t feel silly learning to dance!
