Let’s take a walk down Indecision Lane, shall we?
First I considered mismatched floral bridesmaid dresses. Then I wanted ivory. And then mismatched brights and then mismatched yellow. I shot down each idea. Florals would be too hard to coordinate. Ivory and yellow aren’t flattering on all skin tones. Mismatched brights weren’t cohesive enough.
And then, it finally came to me. Mismatched grey.
I emailed my bridesmaids and told them that they could wear any grey dress they wanted, any shade, as long as it was approximately knee-length and not sparkly or too tight or revealing. That’s it.
We’ve also made the final decision on what the groomsmen will be wearing as well. Grey pants. white shirts. Dark purple ties. Black shoes. Basically, the same thing as Mr. S, without the jacket.
Sounds like a lot of grey, right? I was worried about that, too. So I mocked something hypothetical up in Photoshop to see how it would look. And with some brightly colored shoes and accessories, I think it looks pretty fab:

(That’s my actual dress in the photo, but I blurred it out, because I want to keep it a surprise for the time being. That’s also my actual brooch bouquet, which is still in progress.)
I was so excited to tell the girls my final decision, and they were excited to start shopping! I feel good about my decision and I’m confident that I won’t change my mind again.
How long did it take you to decide on bridesmaid dresses?
