I know, I promised I would be back to my regular posting schedule and that was very clearly a fib. My profuse apologies! But my excuse is a good one. You see, I was waiting to get my professional photos back before I began the recaps. And they’re here!!

But before we dive into all of that, I want to tell you guys about our sun-soaked honeymoon on the Oregon coast. I can see the shock registering on all the Pacific NW faces out there…
But I’m serious—look! Sunglasses!

Our honeymoon didn’t really start until nearly a week after our wedding. We decided that we wanted to use two weekends for it, and if we were to leave immediately after the wedding, I would have had to take more vacation time. I was thrilled to have an extra couple of days, but I will tell you that it was extremely difficult to return to work for those several days between—my mind was far more occupied with happy memories and excited anticipation than it was with anything at the office.
We arrived late on a Friday night, and had dinner with (my new!) family at one of our favorite Portland restaurants: Hopworks. The self-titled sub is awesome, and we grabbed a couple of growlers full of their winter seasonal brew, Abominable. Then we were on our way in the convertible generously loaned to us by this guy, who had already gone above and beyond helping out at the wedding:

Thanks again, FM, we are truly taken aback by your kindness.
We arrived at the beach house just after 1:00 AM, and following a day full of work and travel, we both fell fast asleep. So please accept my apologies for the lack of photos of the house looking beautiful and welcoming—it very much was, but my tired mind didn’t think to photograph it!
The next morning was, as expected, drizzly. We headed to town to stock up on food and cocktails, then spent the day floating in the hot tub and attempting to regain some of the energy we’d expelled over the past year. And on Sunday? Well, football of course!

Okay, couple of things about the photo above:
- Believe me, I know it’s a very unflattering angle for me. But it was the only photo I have of us both in our jerseys, and Mr. Husky looks cute in it. If that’s not selfless, I don’t know what is.
- You’re probably also wondering about the hats—well, we don’t normally dress alike. At least not on purpose. But the hats belong to the car, I believe for the purpose of keeping your hair out of your face when the top is down. We were having so much fun with the top down, we just had to try out the hats! Yes, we’re cheesy.
Moving on. It was a bad day for football. We lost that day, and we have continued to lose since. In fact, I’ve surprised myself a bit with my willingness to even post a photo of us in the jerseys. But I’m all about honesty here.
Honestly, the next week was a blur of seaside soaks…

Whew! I think I just used every word in my vocabulary that starts with the letter S! How’s that for some alliteration? And now for the rest that I couldn’t quite describe with .038% of the alphabet:
An afternoon at the Devil’s Churn:

And finally, my favorite photo from the week, but also the one you should consider skipping if you are in a public and/or conservative location. While there is no nudity, there is lot of skin. I really debated whether or not to share this photo, because I feel a bit exposed. But thanks to the confidence of boudoir-ed bees before me, I have more courage to post it. So if you don’t want to see a lot of skin on my back, please move along. After all that hype, be prepared to be let down.
While enjoying a sunset from the hot tub one evening, Mr. Husky set up the camera on auto timer. We leaned in to kiss one another just as the sun sank into the ocean behind us. And this was the resulting photo:

And then the honeymoon was over. We drove back to Portland and spent a few days rushing around to visit various friends and family members who weren’t able to come to the wedding, and eating at our favorite restaurants in town. Our bellies full and our energy refreshed, we boarded the plane home.
So many thank yous go out to Mr. Husky’s generous family for letting us occupy their wonderful beach house. For other honeymooning couples on the Oregon coast (and beyond!), they do offer it as a rental: The Gullhouse.
