Mrs. Elephant's Picture
Mrs. Elephant, Dallas, TX Age and Occupation: 27, Financial Operations Analyst Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, IT Student/Store Manager Engagement Date: March 29, 2009 Wedding Date: April 2011 Venue: The Tribute Golf Club About Me: I'm a Philly native creating roots deep in the heart of Texas. I might be a little obsessed capturing those Kodak moments of anything and everything (mainly on vacations). I've become more of a gamer thanks to Mr. Elephant, who I met online and can't wait to spend the rest of my life with. We are planning a wedding based on our favorite colors, blue and green, with a travel theme for 150 of our closest friends and family. Hopefully our long (2-year) engagement won't kill me!
About Mrs. Elephant

Man, oh man! When I heard about this Bee series, the first thing that flashed through my head was my hair. Maybe that sounds a little odd, but I went through so many hairstyles in high school it wasn’t even funny. In fact, one of my friends even signed my yearbook “Elephant, I enjoyed watching you change hairstyles constantly this year…”

Don’t believe me? Here are a couple of the various Elephant styles (I apologize in advance for any wonky edges, most of these pictures were taken from my old scrapbooks)…

Love how I’m rockin’ those glasses on the left? I picked those up in London and thought I was so cool!

See what I mean?

In high school I was part of the “smart jocks” (term not coined by me) group. My friends and I played sports (I was on the Varsity track team all 4 years) and took Advance Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses, I actually graduated #7 out of my class of 650 students. I’ll admit that my “love” for studying in high school did not carry over into college. Parties and business frats got in the way. ;)

Track memories

High school is also where I met my best friend, MOH Navy. We were paired together (based on our last names) in an athletic program the summer before sophomore year of high school.

You’re probably thinking, “funny pictures, but what about the Elephant high school love life?” Well I didn’t really have much of one (sad face). I had a major crush on a guy through middle school and was beyond excited to go to homecoming with him Freshman year.

Besides that I didn’t really date much in high school, instead I enjoyed hanging out with the guys on the track team. I had a good amount of guy friends and I really loved that, but there was a small part of me that was sad I didn’t have a high school sweetheart. I focused on school and track, and just looked forward to college, where I thought I would meet, fall in love and marry an Aggie upon graduation. How cute would it be to have an Aggie maroon wedding? OK, maybe I’m not that hard core, but I definitely would have added A&M touches here and there.

As you know by now, that didn’t happen. I had one serious boyfriend in college, but that didn’t last. Although things didn’t work out the way I thought they would have, I cherish the path my life has taken because that path gave me wonderful friendships and has lead me to Mr. E.

Are any of your bridal party members high school friends? Anyone else rock a beehive?

I have one BM aside my sisters and I met her when I was 10 (dang, I’m 32 now. How time flies). I didn’t have any of those wonky styles because I was in boarding school in Africa and if you didn’t have your hair ’short short” (think BoyzIIMen circa early 90’s) you had it in cornrows. I didn’t date. I went to an ‘only girls boarding school’ Anyhow, I’m glad my friend and I are still close. We’ve known each other waaaayyyy too long (it makes it so hard to act brand new with her because she knows me so well) :)

Love the beehive!! :)

3 of my bridesmaids are my sisters, so they don’t count. But two of the other three are high school friends :) I met one during sophomore year and one during junior year! :)

Two of my BMs are from high school. One is my co-author and my theatre friend. We met in 8th grade when we were in the same committee for mock-Congress. Another is my geeky friend, we met in Gifted class in middle school and discovered that we lived near each other.
My last BM lived on my hall freshman year of college and rushed the band sorority with me (neither of us decided to pledge because of time).

hey nice pictures, you had a lot of different looks in HS. I had AP and IB courses too, and during those years I was pretty depressed by all the work that I have while my friends (non-IB) were all having fun/having a life. I too didn’t have a HS sweetheart (I guess that’s what really makes me sad?) Now that we look back, not having a HS sweetheart may just means one less heartbreak eh?

My MOH and I met in 3rd grade but didn’t get super close until Jr/High School. One I met in college and we’ve stayed close. I love all the photos!

@future.mrs.v: What a small world! Allen has grown so much since I went there.
It’s crazy because it seems like high school was just yesterday but next year will be 10 years since I graduated.

Miss Elephant! I graduated from Allen High School too! I instantly recognized your sweatshirt logo in your first picture! Love Allen. Sadly I have moved to Washington with my hubby, but I LOVE Allen. Go Eagles!

@spatchet: Yay for another Allen Eagle! I’m really interested to see their newest project (the stadium) when it’s complete.
