About Mrs. Champagne

It’s hard to believe that almost two years ago I married my best friend and I still have yet to finish my recaps! Looking back through my posts has been such a wonderful reminder of what a seriously supportive community Weddingbee was and has been for me. If I hadn’t met Miss (now Mrs.) Tiramisu, I may not have stumbled across Weddingbee, and the details of our wedding wouldn’t have been the same. Still, when picking my all time favorite post, it’s not a DIY or tutorial but rather two posts that remind me of the overwhelming emotion I experienced after our wedding and how lucky we were to be married in the beautiful mountains of my hometown in Colorado.

Hi Hive!! Oh how I’ve missed you! We’re back from Mexico and happily married! The adjustment from the snowy mountains of Colorado to the hot beaches in the Riviera Maya was intense, but we’re loving EVERY MINUTE of the married life. We actually decided early on that when we returned from our honeymoon we would take a few days off before going back to work, and I can’t tell you how special these days have been. There’s something about watching movies on the couch in your pajamas with your husband that’s so much better than watching them with your fiance!

I’ll soon have a ton of pictures and stories to share with you, and I must warn that I have the “ugly cry face” in many of the photos (something I tried to avoid, but alas there was no stop for my floodgate of tears). I was SO EMOTIONAL and our wedding was full of romance and laughter. I can’t think of one thing that went wrong… truly.

As promised, we also had our day after shoot with my cousin who was a bridesmaid, but who also happens to be a wedding photographer, so here’s a sneak peek of those pictures, too!! I’m sad we’re back in the cold weather, but so happy I’m finally Champ’s MRS.!

Best of the 'Bee - We Are The Champs!!! : wedding best of weddingbee pro pics 106 Portraits! (The SNOWY version!) : wedding photography 106 Alright, so you’ve seen the non-snowy portraits with Abby Jiu, but they were clearly missing one important element-Champ! The day after our wedding insane celebration, we somehow composed ourselves enough to take showers, recoup, and smile for the camera. I’m semi certain we were running on post-wedding steam and we may or may not have actually been awake, but my cousin (who was also a bridesmaid) was ready to take our photos! All photos by my beautiful cousin MB of Design MB Fotografie.

I grew up in Vail, so I knew some basic landscape where we could get away and capture some photos without tourists. My cousin MB and I had scouted out a few spots to take some photos (the first picture is here-you might recognize it in this post), and if you’re ever planning on portraits with a landscaped background, I highly recommend being prepared with where you’ll want to go. We headed first to a path along the golf course where I grew up.

I love Colorado for so many reasons, but the mix of aspen trees and pine trees is unreal. In the winter, there are bare beautiful aspens and rich green pines and in the spring and fall there are fiery aspens and golden tones that dominate the mountains. It’s truly something you’ll want to experience, much like the New England fall colors.

After our wedding reception, I somehow remembered to put my gorgeous wedding bouquet into water so I could use it the next day for our photos. Rose of Rose Petals in Vail produced my dream bouquet full of white peonies, and believe it or not- the wrap is ONE piece of fabric. She’s insanely talented.

OK, so it’s not always easy to take great pictures when your crazy cousin is the one telling you how to pose. Things got pretty silly when she would tell us to make “sexy faces”. I would try my best blue steel…

Best of the 'Bee - We Are The Champs!!! : wedding best of weddingbee pro pics 602 Portraits! (The SNOWY version!) : wedding photography 602

Champ would laugh and say “seriously?”… And I would then get silly. This is what lack of sleep + family member photographer brings to a day-after photo shoot.

I’ve mentioned a few times that I decided to wear my grandmother’s fur stole for our wedding-it was my something old to fight the cold. :) My mom wore her mother’s and it was so special for us to share that bond.

Best of the 'Bee - We Are The Champs!!! : wedding best of weddingbee pro pics 802 Portraits! (The SNOWY version!) : wedding photography 802

My cousin managed to save her bridesmaid’s bouquet for photos, and I love the embroidered detail my grandmother added to her fur-it is truly a family heirloom.

Best of the 'Bee - We Are The Champs!!! : wedding best of weddingbee pro pics 1002 Portraits! (The SNOWY version!) : wedding photography 1002

Have I mentioned there are a lot of kisses in this post?! What do you expect? We were literally married for 12 hours!

Best of the 'Bee - We Are The Champs!!! : wedding best of weddingbee pro pics 402 Portraits! (The SNOWY version!) : wedding photography 402 We got a little goofy when my cousin told me to take off my clothes. She just meant my stole, but mind you, it was February in Colorado (a littttle chilly!).

When I got too cold we headed to our second location-the golf course.

Best of the 'Bee - We Are The Champs!!! : wedding best of weddingbee pro pics 1501 Portraits! (The SNOWY version!) : wedding photography 1501

Champ warmed up the camera (Sexy, huh?! ) while I warmed up my wobbly bits in the car.

Best of the 'Bee - We Are The Champs!!! : wedding best of weddingbee pro pics 1601 Portraits! (The SNOWY version!) : wedding photography 1601

I got out , ready to take photos, and BAM-huge hole in the snow–my boots were full of snow. I was not exactly the blushing bride.

Certain family members of mine call this the “soap opera photo” because I’m so serious. The truth is this was the last location and I was just tired (AND I want to audition for a soap-so kill me).

Best of the 'Bee - We Are The Champs!!! : wedding best of weddingbee pro pics 24 Portraits! (The SNOWY version!) : wedding photography 24 One of my favorite locations we picked is actually on Vail mountain. We had people yelling at us from the chairlifts, but it was all in fun. I loved sharing our joy!

What beautiful pictures! I know you must have been freezing, but the pictures of you without the coat in the snow are absolutely breathtaking - I wish I was getting married in the mountains now! Congrats!

I think this is one of the first posts I saw when I first joined weddingbee - so seeing this again kinda brings me full circle.

LOVE your winter wedding - the stole and the uggs are awesome.

So I’m sitting in a coffee shop with Mrs. Husky, telling her about this other awesome Colorado wedding from the past. We were trying to remember which bee it was, spouting off about 10 different monikers (”Was it Hot Cocoa?” “No…maybe Cherry Pie?”) while her sister and husband laughed at our bee craziness. And wouldn’t you know it, karma decided to answer my question with your Best of the Bee post! Such a lovely, gorgeous, stunning winter wedding you two had. And if you don’t make the best lookin’ couple on this blog, we would be hard pressed to find another! Still in love with your fabulous wedding :)

Aww I love it!!! I thought about a Winter Wedding, but since we were already married in a Courthouse (military) we decided to keep it as close as possible to our original date! I am getting married in Beaver Creek, so I am def going to look into your reccomendation for Flowers, Who did your cake? Do you have any other vendor reccomendations?

You are my favorite blogger on this website! I think I love reading your posts because you’re sentimental and a big cry-er like me. I asked my makeup artist to give me tips on maintaining my makeup because I know I’m going to be weeping on the big day. :)

Thanks so much for your posts.. I’m wedding planning right now and have been reading through your archives for ideas, since you have similar taste as me. Also- I love that you are petite and Mr. Champ is tall- I’m 5′ feet and my fiance is 6′ feet! :)

Your wedding photos are gorgeous! God bless you and Mr. Champ :)

I have a little obsession with Vail - having grown up visiting every winter since I was 5 - and your wedding is just the epitome of a gorgeous Vail wedding - these photos are stunning!
