Ms. Cheetah, Los Angeles/Palm Springs Age and Occupation: 31, Artist, Educator Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, TV Finance Engagement Date: April 2010 Wedding Date: March 2011 Venue: The Viceroy About Me: I’m a silly, sassy lady with a compulsion to create. I love to sing and dance, despite the fact that I lack any talent doing either. I somehow manage to be messy and organized at the same time. I like to spend my days road tripping, watching '80s movies, reading true crime books, buying things on sale, sending postcards, playing board games, dining at food trucks, snuggling, and drinking ginger ale. I have a weak spot for all things sweet, especially Mr. Cheetah! I’m a Chicago girl and he’s a Nor Cal boy but we love living in the City of Angels. After 10 years as a couple we are planning a fun-filled semi-destination wedding in Palm Springs. Hope you enjoy the ride!
About Ms Cheetah

Such Great Heights

November 30th, 2010 @ 3:25 pm by Ms Cheetah

OK, I’m just going to say it: I hate platform shoes. I know they’re all the rage, but I just can’t get on board. Please don’t hate me all you platform-loving ladies out there. Especially you, Lady Gagawe’re still besties, right!?!

Maybe it’s because I’m tall, but I also just don’t like the look of platform heels. To me they seem unbalanced and kind of chunky, while I find non-platform shoes to be very classic and elegant.

Audrey isn’t a platform fan either.

I may not want a platform, but I do want a heel for my wedding shoes. I like the way heels look, and I like how I feel fancier in them. And let’s face it: I want to feel pretty fancy on my wedding day. There are times when I’m all about rocking a four-inch heel, but the wedding is not going to be one of those times. Mr. Cheetah is around three inches taller than me. While most days I don’t care if I’m a smidgen taller than Mr. Cheetah, for some reason I don’t want to be taller on our wedding day. (For the record, Mr. Cheetah doesn’t care either way, but then again, his SIL is six inches taller than his brother.) Although the main reason I don’t want sky-high heels is that I want to be comfortable and I want to dance. All. Night. Long.

My goal wedding-heel height is two-and-a-half inches, but I am willing to go a bit lower or higher. However, platform shoes are so popular, it’s becoming difficult to find fashionable heels without a platform.

I would love all these shoes if only they were platform-less!

Adorable—except for that pesky platform.

Love the color, love the bow. Hate the crazy heel and platform.

The name of this shoe is Cheetah! Too bad it has a giant platform.

It’s looking more and more like I will be shopping in my platform-free closet for my wedding shoes, but I have found some cute non-platform options if I decide to get something new.

Crossing my fingers that these go on sale before March.

Love the chevrons, love the sparkle!

I’ve had these bookmarked for months.

How do you feel about platform shoes?

I personally like a little platform. They make the heel more comfortable to me. Not a giant one, just a little in front eases the ball of the foot. Just my opinion. Good luck on your shoe hunt!

As a short bride-to-be platform shoes are a MUST for me!!…I am 5′2″ so I would love to look 5′5″ on my wedding and that is not possible without the wonderful blessing that are platform shoes hahaha…

But since you are tall I can see why we have different views!…it’s your wedding rock what you want and it’ll be fabulous (by the way I LOVE the green ones with the bow!! and the first ones, you ahev awesome taste!!)

The Kate Spade’s are on sale. Yay for you!! I wore Kate Spade shoes (no platform) and they were REALLY comfortable all night long. Great taste.

I agree, i’m waiting for the platform trend to go back out. That’ll make shoe shopping all around (not just wedding specific shoe shopping) much easier. I’m too tall for platforms.

How funny — I was having the opposite problem, trying to find a lower-heeled shoe that DID have a platform!
Anywho, love the chevrons and sparkle. :)

I don’t like platforms either. I’m about the same as you - on a regular day (when I’m dressed up!) I don’t mind being taller than Cinnamon Buns, and he doesn’t care either. He’s about 4″ taller than me.
On the wedding day, I want to be shorter than him! I don’t want to look at the photos and say ‘who is that tall person marrying my husband?’. I’m hoping for flats or up to a 2″ heel at the most. Almost all the dressy shoes I can find are 4″+! It’ll be fun, because I’m 5′3″, and we’ve got 2 members of our 4-member bridal party who are over 6′ tall. :)

I’m with you whole heartedly! I had a hard time finding one that I loved for my wedding that didn’t have that silly platform!

i’m 6′1″, so anything with a heel pretty much makes me an Amazon woman. I’m with you on the platforms ;-)

i once read that christian dior referred to heels over three inches as “profane.” i like them on other people, but not on myself. as usual, my style leans toward old-fashioned. haha.

I am in the same boat - FI is about 3.5 inches taller than I am and like you, I don’t care at all on a normal day but it’s bugging me for the wedding day. As of right now I am thinking about compromising because I am such a high heel girl, so I bought a pair for the ceremony but am planning on changing to flats (for comfort and height) for the reception. I haven’t tried the heels on yet though, so we’ll see how that plan works…

@LongLegAmazon: I think just the purple ones are on sale–which are super pretty, but not in our palette ;( So glad to hear that Kate Spade shoes are comfy!

@Miss Cinnamon Bun: We are the same way!

I wore platforms. Worst mistake of my life. Should’ve went with a low, sensible heel. Love those white ones!

I was in the same boat- I wound up going with Nina shoes (Culver), as they had several reasonable-heeled styles. Their stuff is simpler than some of what you were looking for, but definitely comfortable! Good luck!

There are a lot of shoes out there with a “hidden” platform (sort of like your first pair, where the fabric covers the platform so it’s not noticeable). I went with a small hidden platform because I loved the shoes and wanted them to feel a little more comfortable, but I’m a lot shorter than my man, and I’m also planning on changing into sandals for the reception so I can dance. So I totally get where you’re coming from!

Definitely with you on the platform shoes! I’m a pretty tall person and my fiance is exactly half an inch shorter than me, and I really don’t want to tower over him while we’re up at the alter (he’s fine with me being taller, but for some reason it always bothers me). I can never find a nice pair of heels that don’t turn me into an amazon!

They can definitely look tacky sometimes, but I do like the extra height they can give you!
