Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, MBA Student
Engagement Date: March 2009
Wedding Date: June 2010
Venue: Tannery Pond at the Darrow School
About Me: I'm a country girl who somehow found herself living in the Big Apple and loving every minute of it. I'm planning a rustic, country-chic wedding in my hometown in upstate New York and it's going to be a Party with a capital P. White wine, flea markets and running keep me happy and my friends, family and fiance are my world. I'm a little bit crafty, a little bit crazy but mostly just crazy in love.
I figured I’d throw my hat into the ring for this series since I remember when I was a reader, I always enjoyed hearing about the process of becoming a bee…plus, I don’t have too much longer around these parts (SOB!) so I’m overstaying my welcome as long as I can…
Alrighty then, first things first: How did I find Weddingbee?
Let’s see, I got engaged in March 2009 and jumped right into planning mode, despite the fact that our wedding wasn’t going to be until summer of 2010. I hit up The Knot and Martha Stewart for inspiration but my greedy bride-to-be self wasn’t satisfied with just those two. I wanted more, more, more!
So, I Googled. I literally Googled “Wedding Blog” and whaddya know? Weddingbee was the first one that came up. I didn’t really understand how it worked at first (the monikers really threw me for a loop) but it was Mrs Peep Toe’s beautiful San Francisco wedding that really drew me in and from then on, I was hooked. And by hooked, I mean rabidly obsessed.

Mrs. Husky, Denver
Age and Occupation: 26, Systems Administrator
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, Mechanical Engineer, recently laid off
Engagement Date: August 14, 2009
Wedding Date: October 2010
Venue: Rancho San Carlos
About Me: I am planning a quirky-crafty wedding with my recently out-of-work fiancé for a (fingers crossed!) warm October afternoon. We are two self-professed nerds with an affinity for all things outdoors---be it rain, snow or shine. Recently relocated from the drizzly Northwest, we're enjoying the many sun-soaked days in the mile high city. Our day will be filled with both of our large families and friends, a self-served Cajun feast, and a Zydeco-style jazz band rocking beneath the beams of a historic red barn.
I know, I promised I would be back to my regular posting schedule and that was very clearly a fib. My profuse apologies! But my excuse is a good one. You see, I was waiting to get my professional photos back before I began the recaps. And they’re here!!

Mrs. Lioness, Atlanta
Age and Occupation: 25, Physical Therapist
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Attorney
Engagement Date: August 29, 2009
Wedding Date: April 2011
Venue: Anthony’s Fine Dining
About Me: I’m a Southern girl with New England roots. I say "wicked" and "y’all" in the same sentence and I like to drink sweet tea with my lobster. Mr. Lion and I are both former Floridians now living in Atlanta, which fortunately is still SEC country...Go Gators! We both love baseball, coffee, traveling, cooking, and playing Words with Friends with each other on our iPhones all day long. I’m very passionate about the things and the people I love, and I tend to plan things with all of my heart...our wedding, of course, is no different! Oh, and also Mr. Lion is a first generation American of Cuban descent. I may look more like Lucy than Ricky, but I’m doing my best to incorporate some Latin elements into our vintage-garden-Southern wedding!
One of my PT school BFFs got married back in August. I had the privilege of being a bridesmaid, but more importantly, my other PT school BFFs were bridesmaids, too. It was the first time that the five of us (well, the ten of us if you count our SOs) were reunited since graduation in May, so we had a lot of fun to catch up on!
One of the most important people present was PT school BFF Christina’s husband, Evan, who was the wedding photographer that weekend. As I’ve mentioned before, he’s also our wedding photographer…and I have to say, seeing Evan in action was a really interesting experience. Evan has been our friend for a couple of years now. He argues with us about whether or not the finale to “Lost” was good enough, he’s always introducing us to great new music, and he has a serious problem with saying “that’s what she said” far too often. But that weekend, I got to see a different side of him.

{personal photo}
Granted, we had already hired Evan, but that weekend was almost like an audition.

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 27, IT Student/Store Manager
Engagement Date: March 29, 2009
Wedding Date: April 2011
Venue: The Tribute Golf Club
About Me: I'm a Philly native creating roots deep in the heart of Texas. I might be a little obsessed capturing those Kodak moments of anything and everything (mainly on vacations). I've become more of a gamer thanks to Mr. Elephant, who I met online and can't wait to spend the rest of my life with. We are planning a wedding based on our favorite colors, blue and green, with a travel theme for 150 of our closest friends and family. Hopefully our long (2-year) engagement won't kill me!
No joke hive, I cried when I saw these flowers.
I previously mentioned that our planner Kathie, with Grand Events, is also doing all of the floral elements for our wedding. Since flowers were the least important part of the wedding for us, I was completely surprised by my reaction when Mama Elephant and I headed over to Kathie’s house to see mock ups for our centerpieces. I was blown away by how beautiful they were. They were everything I didn’t know that I wanted!
Here are some pictures of the shorter arrangement.

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Electrical Engineer
Engagement Date: June 27, 2009
Wedding Date: July 2010
Venue: Anela Garden Chapel & Japanese Cultural Center, Honolulu
About Me: I'm an easily entertained, compulsive idea-scheming machine who loves good art, good food, and a good engineering challenge. I'm planning a half-destination wedding on the beautiful island of Oahu - imagine a plethora of movies, art and games; savory Hawaiian food; blended Chinese and Japanese cultural details; lush, fragrant tropical flowers and all the air conditioning a NorCal native could want! And once I marry the love of my life, we'll come back to the 'mainland' to party it up all over again in my hometown of Salinas, the salad-bowl capital of the world!
Before we party it up at the reception, I’m going to step back and throw out the details thus far. I always appreciated a good detail post while planning, and our photographer took so many pretty shots, so why not?

Ms. Cheetah, Los Angeles/Palm Springs
Age and Occupation: 31, Artist, Educator
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, TV Finance
Engagement Date: April 2010
Wedding Date: March 2011
Venue: The Viceroy
About Me: I’m a silly, sassy lady with a compulsion to create. I love to sing and dance, despite the fact that I lack any talent doing either. I somehow manage to be messy and organized at the same time. I like to spend my days road tripping, watching '80s movies, reading true crime books, buying things on sale, sending postcards, playing board games, dining at food trucks, snuggling, and drinking ginger ale. I have a weak spot for all things sweet, especially Mr. Cheetah! I’m a Chicago girl and he’s a Nor Cal boy but we love living in the City of Angels. After 10 years as a couple we are planning a fun-filled semi-destination wedding in Palm Springs. Hope you enjoy the ride!
You know how good it feels when you cross a big item of your wedding to-do list? I got that sweet feeling today when we ordered the bridesmaid dresses for the Cheetah Girls! We went with Priscilla of Boston dresses in crinkle chiffon from Bella Bridesmaid (with a nice 10% discount for our large order).

personal photo
Two ladies will be ordering the first dress, the second dress is the most popular as four Cheetah Girls will be wearing it, MOH Sister Cheetah will be in the third dress (that drape-y part is actually a strap that goes over one shoulder), and finally, one woman will be in the last number.

Wedding Date: May 2010
Venue: Carlouel Yacht Club
About Me: I'm a self proclaimed perfectionist and a professional nomad (seriously, I've lived in TX, WI, MI, FL, NC, and now VA!). I love wine, cooking, curling up with a good book (nerd alert!), spoiling the furbaby, and of course, the wonderful Mr. Buttons! We are planning a lighthearted and whimsical wedding (with a good deal of DIY projects) in Clearwater, Florida, but from a distance of 800 miles away! We are looking forward to sharing our day with our family and friends, and most importantly, starting our lives together as husband and wife!
When we arrived at the venue, it was time to take a few family portraits, as we had allotted about an hour for group shots before the ceremony. I wanted to take advantage of the beautiful stone fireplaces and the mantles that Carlouel constructed just for us! First we posed with Mr. Buttons’ parents.

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 23, IT Consultant
Engagement Date: July 26, 2008
Wedding Date: December 2010
Venue: Al Cielo / La Laguna
About Me: I’m a tech-savvy tomboy with an affinity for hot tea and good sushi. Us Meerkats are just a couple fun lovin’ geeks from Michigan. We love anything having to do with movies, books, video games or technology and we hold a special place in our hearts for our two very spoiled shih-tzus, Wicket and Bravo. We also LOVE to travel. We love it so much it only took us 12 hours after we got engaged to decide to have a destination wedding. We are working our little Meerkat tails off planning a rustic-chic, travel themed destination wedding in the Riviera Maya with a semi-formal, vintage-turned-modern, outdoor at home reception back here in Michigan.
So you want a look into the Meerkat past? Cue up the Wayne’s World flashback music please.

I am going low budget here. Just pretend. KThanks.
Growing up I was not your typical teenager. In high school my life revolved around two things; softball and friends. If I wasn’t training with MOH Meerkat, we were out with our friends at the beach or having a bonfire in my backyard. I never went crazy partying or out every weekend. All those typical teenager activities bored me.

Some of our friends at prom.
As far as relationships went, I did a little bit of random dating here and there but nothing serious. And academics… HA!

Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Firefighter & Mountain Patrol
Engagement Date: February 25, 2009
Wedding Date: January 2010
Venue: Mr. P's Grandparents’ Ranch
About Me: I’m a Chilean girl who's crazy about nature and swimming. I enjoy carving, drawing, reading and sewing; I drool over computers, fabric, pretty paper, purple and patterns. To me, chocolate should be one of the seven wonders, right next to lemon pie. I never thought an exchange work experience program was going to change my life forever, but while working in California, I met Mr. Poodle, and ever since my days are better and brighter. We are two goofy souls that, after finding each other, couldn’t help but want to be together forever. It has being a long and sometimes hard road, since we have to deal with such a long distance between us, but we are now facing the last stage of our Fiancé Visa, and soon we will be together. You know the best part? We will be married! So I’ll be blogging from Chile until just a few months before our “green and purple” wedding.
After all the funny pictures Mr. Poodle and the groomsmen took while getting ready, they decided to take some normal portraits. Gotta love the boutonniere shamrocks!

They ran around the ranch using the caboose and the old house for their backdrops.

Ms. Sloth, Philadelphia
Age and Occupation: 35, Account Manager and Fashion Blogger
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Design Admin
Engagement Date: December 25, 2009
Wedding Date: May 2011
Venue: Bartram's Garden
About Me: I'm an internet junkie and music snob with a good eye for a bargain. I couldn't live without thrift store shopping, cheeseburgers, sushi, Coke Zero, websites devoted to silly photos of baby animals, Photoshop, and Mr. Sloth. Speaking of which, he and I are a pair of goofball homebody nerds who love our beagle (the most ridiculously adorable dog EVER) to an embarrassing degree. We're planning a low-key and intimate yet festive and quirky outdoor wedding with DIY details and deeply personal touches, and it's all taking place in the city where we fell in love and call home: Philadelphia.
First I fell for a ruffly princess dress, but it was too fancy for our garden venue. Then I bought a prom dress for a steal, but I wasn’t 100% sure about if it was the one. Then, in a moment of frustration and weakness, I bought a wedding gown that I ended up regretting, big time.
And then, I finally found a dress that I actually love. But I was a tease, hive, and I didn’t show it to you right away. But it’s been a few months, and I’m still in love with the dress, so I think the time is right for the big reveal.
Introducing the Galina WG3165:

Mrs. Moonbeam, Los Angeles/San Antonio
Age and Occupation: 26, Intern Architect
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26, Studio Analyst, aspiring Screenwriter
Engagement Date: May 20, 2009
Wedding Date: November 2009
Venue: Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church (LaCoste, TX) and Mary Gray Events Center (Castroville, TX)
About Me: I was born and raised in Texas, but after college I moved to Seattle for a couple of years and loved it. Then I followed my beau out here to LA and we're getting settled in. I've been making things since I can remember. I was raised by crafters. I love to sew, draw, paint, build, cook, bake (anything with a tangible end result is fair game). In that same spirit, I've been hosting since I was old enough to cook and set a fancy table. I kind of take after my grandmother, who believes that your morning OJ always tastes better out of the good crystal.
One of my favorite projects was our invites. It took me a while and many discarded design ideas to get to the end result, but I was really happy with them. We got tons of compliments from recipients and I like that they are very us (or at least very me, I don’t think Mr. MB cared one bit). They were also the thing I had the most control over, go figure. Hope you like ’em.
~~~
They all went out in the mail Saturday, and it’s such a great weight off my shoulders.
Mrs. Hot Wings, Chicago/San Diego
Age and Occupation: 28, Professor
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 32, Instructor
Engagement Date: December 20, 2008
Wedding Date: August 2010
Venue: Ocean View Villas/Jasmine Seafood Restaurant
About Me: I am a psychology grad student living in Chicago and planning my wedding to a fellow psych grad student. I am a Sunny So-Cal bred gal who trudged across the country to follow her love of psychology and ended up finding a partner in the process. I am overly passionate about anything I involve myself with. I am an activist, a foodie, a reality TV watching junkie, an over-analyzer, a photography obsesser, and am utterly cheesy to the core. This is a story of what happens when a boy and a girl meet, fall in love over academic dorkiness, and a shared love for life. We (mostly I) are planning our semi-destination wedding in my hometown of San Diego. We are excited to bring our families and friends together from across our lifespans to celebrate our future in a grand 400+ person culturally blended affair!
Having children in and at our wedding was never a question. In fact, I had discussed the fun photos of kids we could have because they were around.I let our flower girl, my little cousin, pick out her own dress. Could you tell she was in love with it? I totally see the youthful me in her.
Age and Occupation: 24 Marketing/Costume Designer
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 26 Management/Firefighter
Engagement Date: December 12, 2008
Wedding Date: March 2011
Venue: The Providence Biltmore
About Me: I'm a small town New England girl with an affinity for procrastination, crossing the proverbial line, and putting her foot in her mouth. I'm a lover of history, all seasons, sewing and Incubus. I design costumes on the side for my old high school's theatre department, which is where I met my sexy man. Our motto for our Big Fat Lebanese/Portuguese/Irish near-300 person wedding is "the more the merrier"! We are marrying in a Catholic ceremony and are hammering out the details of our Victorian-inspired reception.
Pretend that it’s a striped ass
I did it. I can’t believe I did it. I fell victim to one of the most common mistakes us brides make.
Assumption
Never assume, because as Momma Zeebs says: “it makes an ass out of you and me.”
Ass+u+me = Zebra… get it?
What is it that I assumed, you ask?
Fiance's Age and Occupation: 25, PhD/Biomedical Engineer
Engagement Date: December 18, 2009
Wedding Date: May 2011
Venue: Glendale Lyceum
About Me: I'm a pilgrim soul of a girl with a house full of books and a coffee addiction that could slay Juan Valdez. My life is a whirl of grammar correction, good music, glue-gunning, and two pets named Hazel and Winston Churchill. I'm marrying my high school boyfriend in a formal-ish spring affair, roughly themed: "Elizabeth Bennet crashes a party co-hosted by Jay Gatsby and Cath Kidston, and loves it."
Recap: Like a dress/lose a dress, find the dress again, and now the final installment: in which I road trip with my mother and great-aunt to Chambersburg, PA, home to the last store in the country that has this dress in my size.
J & B Bridals was bustling. The Saturday clientele was half prom-goers, half brides-to-be, and I worked my way past both to get to the front desk. Gun-shy from my last experience, I was already feeling a little overwhelmed.
There I met Jami, who had originally emailed me. When I told her I had an appointment, and then my name, she clapped in excitement. She said she had been excited all day for me to see the dress. Her enthusiasm was so genuine that it soothed my uneasiness right away. I don’t know about you, but I can smell falseness a mile away, and it is very off-putting. Let me tell you: there is nothing fake about Jami or her sweet parents, who run the store.
“It probably won’t fit,” I said, rambling. “It’s a bridal size 10, right? And that might be pushing it.”
