I might be a little obsessed capturing those Kodak moments of anything and everything (mainly on vacations). I've become more of a gamer thanks to Mr. Elephant, who I met online and can't wait to spend the rest of my life with. We are planning a wedding based on our favorite colors, blue and green, with a travel theme for 150 of our closest friends and family. Hopefully our long (2-year) engagement won't kill me!

Can’t Get Enough Of Our Venue

November 8th, 2010 @ 11:32 am by Mrs. Elephant

I just can’t get enough of our venue! The Tribute holds 2 bridal open houses a year where brides and their families can see the venue set up for a wedding, taste some food and meet with preferred vendors. With our 25 month engagement it’s safe to say I’ve been to more than one. :)

As we drove up to the venue, we decided to head to the back where the gazebo is to test out the length of our DIY tissue paper pomanders. I think they look great and will add some color to the ceremony area.

I tend to fall in love with everything I encounter, but more than anything, I love my two little kitties, Bela and Josie, and my big kitty, Mr. Panther! As a wannabe crafter, I'm still waiting for my artistic talents to emerge. (Any day now, really.) In the meantime, I spend my days eating anything put in front of me, buying every pair of shoes I see and absorbing wedding inspiration from every inch of my surroundings. Mr. Panther and I are hardcore New Englanders planning Connecticut nuptials from our new home in the Dirty South, and can't wait to mix our newfound love of classic Southern charm with some modern city touches.

I love reading, writing, bicycles, animals, roller skating, and antique-y things of all sorts. I'm a vegetarian who likes spicy foods, while Fiancee Seahorse is a meat eater who does not like spices. We live outside Boston with our menagerie: a fifty pound dog, a one-eyed, seventeen-toed, toothless cat, and a perfectly put together cat who has a penchant for pooping near rather than in her litter box. In addition to planning our small lake-side wedding, we enjoy running around with the puppy, playing board games (Scrabble, anyone?), having little adventures, talking about how we should really clean the house more, and maintaining our little garden of vegetables and wedding flowers.

We Invite You…

November 8th, 2010 @ 10:38 am by Ms Seahorse

We interrupt your regularly scheduled recap posts to bring you—ready for it?—our invitations. Okay, so these were a long time coming, and I’m sorry we didn’t share them sooner, but here goes. I had seen a lot of other people’s prospective invitations, and it helped us to hone in on what we did and didn’t like in invitations. To start, we knew we liked an outdoor theme: birds, trees, leaves. We knew that fancy folder invitations were really pretty, but that we didn’t have the finances or the patience to do something fancy. We knew that we would keep our invitation, and maybe immediate family and best friends would, too, but we also knew a lot of people would throw them away, and so we only wanted to put enough effort into it that we loved it and were okay with other people not realizing how Absolutely Amazing our invitations were.

A friend of mine from roller derby does graphic design stuff, and she offered to design and print our invitations essentially for cost.

I couldn't live without thrift store shopping, cheeseburgers, sushi, Coke Zero, websites devoted to silly photos of baby animals, Photoshop, and Mr. Sloth. Speaking of which, he and I are a pair of goofball homebody nerds who love our beagle (the most ridiculously adorable dog EVER) to an embarrassing degree. We're planning a low-key and intimate yet festive and quirky outdoor wedding with DIY details and deeply personal touches, and it's all taking place in the city where we fell in love and call home: Philadelphia.

The Name Game

November 8th, 2010 @ 9:38 am by Ms. Sloth

When Mr. S and I got engaged, I had to tell him that I didn’t want to change my last name to his. He seemed fine with my decision and didn’t question my reasoning behind it whatsoever (love him). But, unfortunately, some other friends and family members have questioned me. So here is my laundry list of reasons for keeping my last name. Some of them are a bit more profound than others.

First, the important reasons:

One Last DIY

One Last DIY : wedding diy newport stationery thank you Img 04703 Creating the thank you notes was bittersweet. For a wedding loving girl it was sad, because I knew it was the end of my wedding planning. Thank God I have Weddingbee to relive every detail of the day! To be honest though, it also felt great, because DIY projects and wedding planning is time consuming!

Since the wedding is over and projects are complete, I’ve had much more time for friends and family. Including these lovely girls. Can you guess who they are? ;)

Bridal Party

November 8th, 2010 @ 8:38 am by Mrs. Prairie Dog

Let’s just say it: choosing a bridal party is equal parts sucky and joyful.

I’m more of a “small group of close friends” than a “big group of acquaintances” gal. I was thrilled to ask my closest friends to stand next to me…but I am still—STILL—feeling the sting of not being able to include everyone. I’m lucky, though, and every single person has been a gem about it.

I mostly just asked them on the phone, but I did send out three different versions of a card, which said on the inside, “Will you be a bridesmaid?”

I love to sing and dance, despite the fact that I lack any talent doing either. I somehow manage to be messy and organized at the same time. I like to spend my days road tripping, watching '80s movies, reading true crime books, buying things on sale, sending postcards, playing board games, dining at food trucks, snuggling, and drinking ginger ale. I have a weak spot for all things sweet, especially Mr. Cheetah! I’m a Chicago girl and he’s a Nor Cal boy but we love living in the City of Angels. After 10 years as a couple we are planning a fun-filled semi-destination wedding in Palm Springs. Hope you enjoy the ride!

I've been crafty for as long as I can remember, and will DIY something twice over before I have someone do it for me. I'm a semi-awkward, typeface obsessed, design junkie and have been know to break out my dance moves for no reason as well as try my best to be ridiculous at all times. My love of pop culture, wordplay, and graph paper almost rivals my love of Mr. Giraffe (who is just the bee's knees). I'm a self-proclaimed attention-w****. If it involves a camera, I'm in front of it! You'll never meet a girlier tomboy than me. I can go toe to toe with any guy on the subject of college football, and lift more than any girl in my gym, all without chipping a nail. I hope to someday be the only person you want delivering your sports news. My FI and I are the loving parents of three Labrador Retrievers (one of each color) and are planning a "Southern Romantic Charm" wedding in the beautiful, historic city of Savannah. I'm not extreme in anything except moderation... and wedding planning.
About Mrs. Labrador

Our wedding was just a week after Halloween (my favorite celebration of the entire year) and in a city known for its ghoulish residents. So in addition to the ghost tour after the rehearsal dinner, I thought it would be fun to do the official “Thriller” dance at the reception!

So, I put the word out to our guests well before the wedding to learn the dance if they wanted to participate. And as we lined up at the reception, I was actually surprised that we got so many takers!

While I love NYC, I miss good Tex-Mex, my college friends, central A/C, and being in close proximity to a Target. I’m thrilled to finally be planning an event that’s not work-related and to be marrying my best friend in what I hope will be a unique and personal ceremony followed by a reception with plenty of good food, good drinks, and dancing (regardless if it’s good or not).

Mosquitoes Love Me

November 7th, 2010 @ 1:20 pm by Mrs. Hippo

They really do. If there is one mosquito in a room, it will find me. I can be in a room with 15 other people and one mosquito, and it will bypass everyone else and come after me. It’s really a problem. During our engagement shoot, those little critters were everywhere, and while it looks like I’m enjoying myself here, they are seriously biting the crap out of my legs. Not OK.

Boobs, Bustles and Crinoline

November 7th, 2010 @ 11:25 am by Mrs. Meerkat

This past weekend we had our very first dress fitting with Mama-In-Law Meerkat’s friend L. who is an amazing seamstress!

First thing Seamstress L. did was take a look at the pattern we got for the bridesmaids’ dresses and the material we brought. Truthfully, I was biting my nails with worry that I had got the wrong stuff, but she said what we picked was perfect and the pattern was very simple. (Yay…score one for the Meerkats!)

I work full time for a Commercial General Contractor (aka my father) and I go to school for Interior Design at night. I love modern design, music, wine, crafting, DMailing, my family, my Westies, and of course, Mr Frenchie! Mr Frenchie and I met 3 years ago on Match.com and have been best friends ever since. About Mrs. French Bulldog

I’ve already shown you all the Birdie Details from our wedding, but I had to show off the other details.

I’m a Virgo, i.e. overly sensitive, emotional, and critical, and there’s no such thing as short and sweet in my world. I want to say and do it all. Mr. Brooch grounds me.
