Mrs. Cardigan's Picture
Mrs. Cardigan, Austin Age and Occupation: 21, Student/Soon-to-be Special Education Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 20, Student/Soon-to-be Accounting Systems Analyst Engagement Date: August 16, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2011 Venue: Vintage Villas About Me: I'm a native Austinite who was raised as a die-hard Aggie. Luckily, I'm a pretty persuasive girl because I managed to convince my high school boyfriend (now fiance!), Mr. Cardigan, to ditch his hardcore Longhorn ways and join me up at A&M, where we currently reside with our adorable dogs, Cullen & Ranger. We're currently planning a bright, cheery wedding with a ridiculous amount of DIY projects that I can't wait to tackle! I love crafting in any form, reading, and margaritas (I think I love them the most!). Organization is what keeps me sane and I love helping others, which is probably why I ended up as an education major. It gets a little chaotic sometimes when you're planning a wedding among all of the papers, projects, finals, and certification exams, but we're having the time of our lives and we can't wait to get started on our journey as husband and wife - and we're so excited to share our wedding with the hive!
About Mrs. Cardigan

Crossing ‘Em Off the List!

December 1st, 2010 @ 2:22 pm by Mrs. Cardigan

So, Mr. Cardigan and I have less than 50 days until our wedding. No big deal. I’m totally calm.

Um…YEAH RIGHT.

I’m freaking out, convinced we don’t have enough time to complete everything. As a result, I’ve kicked it into wedding overdrive, and I’m knocking projects out left and right!

Here’s a quick peek at what I’ve been up to.

Our table numbers are officially 100% finished. I picked them up from Daddy Cardigan a few weeks ago (he had to finish sanding them and cutting the lines I couldn’t quite get), and I spent a few afternoons spray painting them. I think they turned out beautifully!

Remember my DIY aisle decor? Well, I’ve been hot gluing like a madwoman lately, and I’ve got all the little petals glued into flowers!

I have two giant boxes of these sitting in our extra bedroom just waiting to be finished. I’d show you a photo, but my camera is broken.

All that’s left to do on this project is glue the individual flowers into balls and attach a ribbon, but I think I’m going to save that part for when I can get some help from Sister Cardy. She’s way more talented in this area, and last time I tried to make one of the balls it didn’t turn out so well. I still think these little guys are evil, and I’m kind of terrified to try it again without some serious moral support.

So, this project will be completely finished in December, when I head out to Austin a few weeks before the wedding. Hear that, Sister Cardy? Get excited ’cause you’re totally helping me with this evil project!

And lastly, the evil craft to end all evil crafts: My napkins.

Now, before I say anything else, let me just say this. If you are thinking about making your own napkins…DON’T. Just…don’t. Really. Don’t. Do. It.

You listening? I’m telling you, it might be the best wedding advice you ever get. Especially if the last time you sewed something was in high school drama class and you don’t know the first thing about sewing. Then you REALLY shouldn’t do it. Not like I’d know anything about that…

Anyways. The stupid evil horrible napkins are finished. I’m not 100% happy with them, but maybe that’s just because of all the hell they put me through. All that matters is they’re done and I’m not going to think about them anymore.

That’s two. There are approximately 100 more of them in our extra bedroom. Evil, evil napkins.

And that’s where we are right now! I still have a to-do list that’s about a mile long and several other projects that I’m working on, but I feel pretty good about accomplishing everything that I have so far! My brain is in total wedding mode and will probably stay there for the next six weeks or so, so I’m hoping I can keep the momentum going!

Did you hit a point in planning where you felt like you were constantly working on projects? Please tell me you survived it!

While I don’t envy the amount of work you’ve put into your projects, I can’t WAIT to see how it all comes together at the wedding!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your tables numbers. Would you have any interest in selling them after your wedding? I would love to be able to make something like this but unfortunately don’t have the power tools to do so (and my fiance is about as unhandy as it gets), so I would be incredible interested if you wanted to sell them after. They are fantastic! Great job with everything, I can’t wait to see your wedding!

Don’t worry, you’ll survive!! Your brain might be mush by the end of it, but you will! I’ve got 10 days to go & I keep forgetting what day it is and what color vest he’s wearing compared to his men.. And where are my keys?! Haha! But all our projects are done, done & done! Definitely can’t wait to see your aisle decor in action, though. Those are so much fun!

Those table numbers are amazing!
PS I’m so glad that the table linens (including napkins) come with my venue so I can’t even toy with the idea of making my own napkins ;)
