I Heart Nathan Russell!

December 2nd, 2010 @ 1:13 pm by Mrs. Plaid

Simply put, I heart my photographer big time. I know I’ve shown y’all some of his amazing work with our engagement shoot and my boudoir shoot, but I swear, he just keeps getting better and better. I’ve been waiting to post this until I got my recaps back. Well, I’ve got them (which means recaps are a comin’), and they are fabulous!

I Heart Nathan Russell! : wedding austin photography Nathan Nathan, with his adorable wife/assistant Amy

Let me start at the beginning, though. Let’s start with how I found the fabulous Nathan Russell.* One day I was perusing Weddingbee and searching the local Austin board, when I came across a thread about an awesome deal on a photographer. I just happened to be in the market for a photographer, so I clicked on the link.

It lead to Nathan Russell’s website. Basically, he is in the process of growing his wedding portfolio, so he was offering five lucky brides one hell of a deal! The deal included an engagement shoot, a bridal session (or in my case, a boudoir), and an entire day of wedding photography. (Oh yeah, and he threw in a second shooter plus his wife/assistant on our actual wedding day!) All for the small price of five hundred buckaroos! And to top it all off, after the wedding he gave us a $500 gift certificate to use on his site to order an album or prints.

Now, if you don’t think he’s totally awesome** yet, let me share a little more. A bridal session was included in his original package. I, however, wasn’t interested in lots of photos of me in my dress taken on a separate day from my wedding day, so I asked Nathan if there was any way we could do a boudoir session instead. He enthusiastically agreed! My boudoir session was his first, and because it was so successful, he has decided to offer the option to all his future clients! How awesome is that?!

Oh, and a few months before the wedding, he informed me that he’d like to throw in a photobooth setup, complete with background and props, for no additional charge. I think he must have been psychic because two days before I received his e-mail I had decided to scrap the whole photobooth plan. I just couldn’t figure out how to do it and decided it wasn’t that important. Instead I got to have an awesome photobooth, and I didn’t even have to worry about it!

I Heart Nathan Russell! : wedding austin photography Photobo Here’s a preview of my kick-ass photobooth!

Do you have a crush on your photographer? Where did you find yours?

*I’m not getting paid to say any of these nice things about Nathan. He’s just awesome and everyone should know it!

**Please excuse my excessive use of the work “awesome.” There is clearly no better word to describe Nathan’s work.

That’s fantastic! Looking forward to your recaps!
I also am a little in love with the photographer from my wedding, who was way more amazing that I could have ever hoped for. (Any MD/VA/DC brides– hire Valerie Usui! She’s awesome!)

@R.Elliott: I know he traveled to Iowa to shoot a wedding so I’m sure he’d travel the three or four our drive to do yours. Check him out!

I heart Nathan Russell, too! Nathan and his talented wife Amy shot my wedding, bridals, and engagement shoot. In fact, I’m the Iowa bride that Jenn just mentioned! (I live in Austin– it was a destination wedding.) I can not stress enough how happy I was with Nathan’s work.

If anyone’s interested in seeing more of Nathan’s work while we all wait for Jenn’s awesome recaps, here’s a link to my bridal portaits:
