Memory Mayhem

December 2nd, 2010 @ 4:22 pm by Mrs. Waffle

In my excited quest to dig up pictures and objects for our memory jars and guestbook project, I failed to keep one thing in mind. Cleaning up afterwards. The pictures can go back into the photo albums. No problem. Where was I going to put all these memory objects, though?

I don’t have our jars yet and probably won’t have them for a few months. Uh oh.

*cue bride downward spiral*

Do I put them back where they came from and pray I can remember their location? Do I get a new box and keep only memory jar business in it? If I do get a new box, where will I keep it? Where will I keep any of the wedding projects I work on in the next 7 months?! Ahhhhhh!

It’s all making me kind of dizzy. I need to balance keeping the house tidy and uncluttered (’cause an untidy house stresses out Mr Waffle), having space for my freelance design business and having space for wedding work. As I look at all of the surface space in my office, it is all covered with wedding or costuming. Yikes! Who knew one small project that had me giddy and excited would create this little ball of stress in my tummy? I suppose today’s task will be reorganizing my office, clearing out some space for the wedding and setting a plan to avoid clutter build up. But first…I’ll finish my coffee.

How do you keep your house organized while you’re planning your wedding?

welcome to my constant battle :) we’ve solved it by getting a clear storage bin and XL plastic zip bags to store each of our diy projects. i label each bag and keep all of them together in my “wedding bin”.
so excited to see how these memory jars turn out…they sound great!

We live in a small one bedroom condo so keeping our place clean and organized is next to impossible. I bought a bin from Target to keep my wedding stuff in so that I don’t lose it. I keep the bin until a table. My only issue is that I didn’t buy a big enough one and it’s already filled. So I’m gonna have to figure out plan B

I actually purchased a giant Ikea bookshelf with tons of those semi-attractive cardboard boxes to hold all my wedding/crafting stuff. It takes up a whole (small) wall in my bedroom. But still, my guest room is FULL of crap. I don’t know what I’m going to do with it when we have guests next month! Gah!
Good luck! I feel your pain.

Our guest room closet is packed with all things wedding! At first it was all over our dining room table and that clutter got to me so I donated a bunch of old clothes in the other closet and made room for all of the wedding stuff.

I am a big advocate of the “shove a big plastic tub under the bed” ploy. I have been using the space under things (bed, couch, last row of pantry) for storage for the last 4 years- thank you tiny college apartment. If you get desperate (aka- the almost inlaws are coming over in 30 minutes) the trunk of your car, or any good friend’s car will also do the trick (not that i’ve ever done that, of course…).

I threw everything into my guestroom and have not dared to enter since 10-10-10.

@the artist: Hahaha! I have also used the trunk of my car before! I had no more room to store a batch of costumes once and I just threw them back there.
