Mrs. Jaguar's Picture
Mrs. Jaguar, Sydney Age and Occupation: 27, Primary School Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 29, IT Consultant Engagement Date: August 8, 2009 Wedding Date: June 2011 Venue: Curzon Hall About Me: I'm an Australian girl who is a self-proclaimed nerd, loves all things stationery and would be lost without books, music and the internet. Mr. Jaguar and I have been together for the past eight years and he finally popped the question last August. Hurrah! We currently live in Sydney, Australia with our adorable cat who thinks he's a person. We're a couple who likes to multi-task: we've been planning a wedding abroad, a permanent move from London to Sydney, and preparing to build our own home all at the same time. Travelling makes me giddy...as does Mr. Jaguar, of course!
About Mrs. Jaguar

Must. Have. Sparklers.

December 5th, 2010 @ 3:40 pm by Mrs. Jaguar

There’s something I feel like I have to admit up front to you all: I may cry if I don’t get a sparkler send-off at the end of our reception. I can’t help it. I’ve been a trifle obsessed with them for years now, ever since seeing amazing pictures like this:

And this:

Sparklers just seem to make everyone SO HAPPY. Seriously, I’ve yet to find a wedding picture that uses them where people are not grinning like loons. I’m already swooning just imagining our guests lined up around the circular drive leading out of our venue, sparklers in hand…ah, it will be absolutely gorgeous.

We could have them sitting in jars, ready for people to grab as they prepare for our exit:

Or even have them looking sweet all packaged up individually, ready to light up:

I hope our venue has nothing against sparklers! They don’t leave a mess, they’ll look amazing with night photography…and I’m really excited to get busy with ideas to make this part of our reception work!

Did you use sparklers for your send-off?

*sigh* I so badly wanted sparklers…but they are banned in NZ except for on certain dates! I hope you are lucky and get your sparkler dream so I can live vicariously through you :)

i want sparklers too! our venue said we can have them but we can’t have them on display - we need to pass them out ourselves. they ran into issues of guests just taking sparklers and lighting them inside right away when the sparklers were set out on display. *eyeroll* i mean seriously what goes through people’s heads sometimes? at least we still get our sparklers!

We anticipated having a sparkler send off however, due to the fun filled night of drinking among family and friends my best friend (the bride) was too tired and tipsy to want a sparkler send off. LOL!!!

Hmmm…what to do with the 100+ sparklers?

We had a sparkler send off for our wedding. We got the 2 minute sparklers, and we ordered 2x our guest list… Good thing we did! They light the sparklers about 5 minutes before we left and all our guests sparkler’s burned out!!! Luckily, we had the extras just in case!!!

@Miss Earrings: Fingers crossed indeed! Maybe I’ll set something HUGE on fire so you can see it from across the Tasman. :D

@airythia: Ha, oh dear. I had this visual image of your guests going crazy with sparklers. It was kind of funny, at least in my head.

@becky: Good advice - makes perfect sense when you think about it. I think I’ll bookmark this so I remember to get some extras. Thanks!

@wgowood: Oh, this would look beautiful at night. :)

Yep, definitely using sparklers! We’re just going to have them in a jar because we’re doing 1 long sparkler per guest.

I really want to do this, but we’re having an afternoon wedding and reception. We’ll be leaving at 7pm, but since it’s summer, it won’t be dark yet. Do you think it would still look okay? I’m in it more for the fun than the visual anyway, I just don’t know if people would think it was a mistake.

I’m hoping to do a sparkler send off for pictures like the ones you posted. Hopefully our venue will let us. *fingers crossed!*

I love sparklers. I turn into a child on the 4th of July in the States and buy boxes and boxes of them for the whole family to light. They are a must-have for my wedding. I hope I get to have them.

I loved our sparklers. I thought I had bought a ton of them and would have a bunch of them left over for july 4th, but I guess our guests liked them too cause they were all gone. I have pics of guests double and triple fisting the sparklers. I think they were a big hit.
