Mrs. Knitting, Toronto Age and Occupation: 24, Student Recruitment Assistant Fiance's Age and Occupation: 24, Neuroscience PhD Candidate Engagement Date: October 2009 Wedding Date: December 2010 Venue: University of Toronto Faculty Club About Me: I'm a pearl wearing, etiquette book reading Toronto girl who loves cooking and baking, museums, charm bracelets, and collecting books on Jackie Kennedy (a lot). I've been known to spend Sunday mornings at the antique market, Wednesday evenings at sister sushi dinners, and any bit of spare time reading. After six and a half years of many late night walks, watching DVDs together in bed, travelling to places like New York, and Tobermory, doing Sudokus together on the couch, lots of Indian food, the occasional yoga class, moving in together and so much more, Mr. Knitting and I are planning a cozy Christmasy (it's a word!), vintage wedding in Toronto complete with many DIY projects (eek!) and lots of help from our amazing group of family and friends.

We’re the Kings of the Castle

December 6th, 2010 @ 4:03 pm by Mrs. Knitting

Back in the summer I wrote about our dilemma as to who we should sit with at our wedding. Thanks to Weddingbee readers futuremominlaw and glitterashley23 (who pointed me in the direction of this post), we decided to go with a king’s table.

Here’s a look at how the club will be set up:

Mr. Knitting and I will be sitting where those two Xs are, and then our wedding party and their dates will sit on either side of the table. This image isn’t quite to scale, since the king’s table will be quite a bit longer than shown, but it gives you a pretty good idea.

I’m really happy with this plan. They’ve never done a king’s table at the Faculty Club before, so we’ll see how it works in the space. However, I’m really happy with this plan because it means we get to sit with all our favourite people, but they still get to sit with their dates, which was really important to me.

Who will you be sitting with at your reception? Did you struggle with this the same way I did?

A King’s table looks like a great solution! However, I must warn you, we didn’t do much sitting at our wedding. In fact, I think I sat at our table for a total of about 10 minutes and Mr. G didn’t sit at all :(

we are doing a sweetheard table for the simple fact - as stated above and heard over and over again, no bride and groom actually sits at their own wedding. we are doing 10 round tables of 10. - I’m really hoping everyone isn’t squished and likes where they are sitting. I do like your idea though, if my place had room like that I may consider that.

That’s so sweet, and so thoughtful. Your wedding party’s dates will definitely appreciate being able to sit with them, especially if they don’t know too many other people. Great solution!
