Mrs. Cardigan's Picture
Mrs. Cardigan, Austin Age and Occupation: 21, Student/Soon-to-be Special Education Teacher Fiance's Age and Occupation: 20, Student/Soon-to-be Accounting Systems Analyst Engagement Date: August 16, 2009 Wedding Date: January 2011 Venue: Vintage Villas About Me: I'm a native Austinite who was raised as a die-hard Aggie. Luckily, I'm a pretty persuasive girl because I managed to convince my high school boyfriend (now fiance!), Mr. Cardigan, to ditch his hardcore Longhorn ways and join me up at A&M, where we currently reside with our adorable dogs, Cullen & Ranger. We're currently planning a bright, cheery wedding with a ridiculous amount of DIY projects that I can't wait to tackle! I love crafting in any form, reading, and margaritas (I think I love them the most!). Organization is what keeps me sane and I love helping others, which is probably why I ended up as an education major. It gets a little chaotic sometimes when you're planning a wedding among all of the papers, projects, finals, and certification exams, but we're having the time of our lives and we can't wait to get started on our journey as husband and wife - and we're so excited to share our wedding with the hive!

Post-Wedding-Mail Depression

December 6th, 2010 @ 5:33 pm by Mrs. Cardigan

Or, as I like to call it, PWMD.

I don’t know about you guys, but I love, love, LOVE getting mail. It’s one of my favorite things in the world, and quite frankly, it doesn’t happen often enough. Before all of the wedding craziness, Mr. Cardigan and I were lucky to get any mail most days, and when we did it was usually just ads or credit-card offers. Lame-o.

But now? We get mail all. the. time. Whether it’s RSVPs (which, ahem, still aren’t coming in quite as steadily as I’d like them to, even though it’s past the damn due date), packages for the wedding, or even presents for other people like my bridesmaids, I feel like we’re constantly getting some new and exciting piece of mail. And I’m LOVING IT!

But, in all reality, I know that once the wedding is over we’ll go back to only getting mail three or four days a week. And it will very rarely be anything exciting. And I have a feeling that I’ll suffer some serious PWMD from the lack of mail.

Maybe I need a pen pal.

OK, in all seriousness, I really am going to be sad about the lack of mail. There’s something just inherently exciting about opening the mailbox and finding some fun thing in there with your name on it. I’ve loved getting mail for as long as I can remember, and getting so much mail is one of my favorite things about this phase in wedding planning! I’m going to seriously miss it!

Did you suffer from PWMD, or am I the only crazy mail-obsessed one?

I have yet to experience the barrage of mail! Anxiously waiting for that to start. :)

I identify with your anxiety about post-wedding sadness though. I’m having so much fun reading wedding blogs, looking and pretty flowers, tasting sweet things, etc. that I can totally see how I might fall victim to post-wedding depression (that’s a strong word..let’s say ‘post-wedding pout’ instead).

I soooo miss getting mail regularly. Especially packages. Even if I was the one who ordered it and knew exactly what was coming. I would be SO excited all day at work, anxiously awaiting my arrival home so I could tear into paper samples.

I do suffer from PWMD. It sucks, Cardigan!

You’re definitely not alone! Although right now I’m only waiting for one particular piece of mail - pro pictures! It’s a long, hard wait :(

We got three packages over the weekend (supplies for our invitation packet and bmaid gifts I’d ordered)– it was AWESOME! I was wondering if that’s what it will be like from now until the wedding, now. We’ll have to make the long walk (oh all of 300 feet) down to our mailbox more than once a week!

Oh I totally agree, it’s so nice to get real mail! But just remember, holiday cards are right around the corner! I’m excited to be getting more of those now that there are two of us in a permanent home, twice the amount of holiday cards (hopefully!!)

Maybe you should think about it from another perspective - you’ll be writing all your thank you letters, so you ‘ll be sending mail to other people, making them happy!
