You got to see a bit of my mother’s wedding dress in its original glory here. I have always wanted to try the dress on and have a few photos taken with it, and we won’t have time for that on the wedding day, so we decided to do our own photo shoot….kinda like the Southern pre-wedding bridal session tradition that I have seen around the blogs (just think of me as being really far South).
Mr E is shooting his first ever wedding in just over a week as well, so he wanted some bridal portrait practice for that; plus, isn’t it fun to just have a chance to dress up? It also turned out to be a great opportunity for me to get more comfortable in front of a camera.
Hanging out for the pics? Well, here are my favourites:

I’m also wearing my mother’s wedding shoes that we found last week, and the pearls of three generations (a bracelet from my grandma, another bracelet of my own, and my mum’s necklace)!

Mr E made my bouquet—I loved it

It was great having Mr E as a photographer; we had so much fun together.

I’m not exactly the most glamorous or graceful person in front of the camera, but we enjoyed ourselves and I will always treasure the pics because the fact that I got to wear my Mum’s wedding dress for a few hours is very special to me. The dress was also one of the most comfortable things I have ever worn—I didn’t know it was possible for “wedding dress” and “comfortable” to be in the same sentence!
I’m glad I had this chance to practice facing the camera as well, because it helped me reconcile with something that I am very self-conscious about. You will notice that I’m not wearing glasses in the photos. Yes, I finally faced the beast and got my contacts in. Yay me. However, when I was looking through all the photos, I noticed that in a few of them one of my eyes was very cross-eyed. I don’t have binocular vision (meaning I don’t see with both eyes at the same time), and my right eye is practically blind. And sometimes that eye decides to wander off by itself, especially when I am tired, and I can’t do anything to control it. It all results in a very unflattering look. When I saw the cross-eyed pics I panicked a bit, but then I realised that we took over 80 photos, and I was only cross-eyed in 3-4 of them….so on the wedding day I am sure there will be many pictures taken, and yeah, some might not turn out right, but my eye seems to behave well the majority of the time, and that is the main thing.

I’m aiming for un-cross-eyed photos like this!
Has anyone else had a chance to rock their mother’s wedding dress? Or do any of you have one thing that really bothers you in photos of yourself?
